Wow, the pictures really don't do this place justice. It's so spacious but warm at the same time. The backyard has plenty of space for laying out in the sun, picnics, mingling. It was really easy for me to cook large meals because of all the counter space in the kitchen. All the rooms are comfortable. Even the guests in the bunk room were perfectly happy. The view makes you feel like you're tucked away in the mountains, but you can still reach the grocery store, etc conveniently. The owner was very friendly and replied to all my questions in a timely manner. I definitely want to come back again and have already recommended the house to friends.

The location is great if you are looking for a quite vacation spot. The house itself is large and roomie and accommodated our group well. We really enjoyed the pizza oven. The home itself is much older than the photo's and in need of TLC. The AC was broken and it was a pretty warm weekend so during the day it was very hot in the house. The screens where not in place so when we opened the sliding door to get some air we where swarmed with flies. The fridge was not working properly and we had to have the owners come to give us access to the fridge in the garage which was smaller.... unloading and reloading was not fun.. I would not recommend this place for people with small children the fence around the proper is very low and you would need to keep a very close eye on the kids. The outside patio has stone floors which are uneven and not suitable for the elderly. All in all we had a good time but would not return to this property.

Owner response: Since the climate in Santa Cruz is fairly mild throughout the whole year most houses in Santa Cruz do not have air conditioning. The a/c at the house was not broken, there is not one installed. There is a forced air heater so the thermostat may look as though there is an a/c since it has a “hot” and “cold” for setting the temperature. The fridge that was in the garage was a subzero fridge that had a freezer that we needed to be fixed but the repair company couldn’t come out until after the rental was over. We did our best to problem solve once the issue was made known to us. The rental was for 3 nights over the weekend, which made it impossible to get a replacement or repaired in such a short timeframe. The stone patio is installed to look like a old cobble stone road in Europe.
The view of the surrounding hills is beautiful! Not to mention how nice the inside of the house is. The master suite is huge and the beds in the guest room are so comfortable! The house is a perfect place to get away for the weekend and relax. I would definitely return to this house if I were to go back to the Santa Cruz area.

From the moment we pulled up, we knew it was going to be a special trip! From the spacious living room to the peaceful hot tub overlooking a redwood forest, everything was perfect. My favorite part of the house however was the pizza oven! What a great addition! With a large party, it was the perfect dinner. So much fun! They had all the tools ready for us including fire starters. We loved relaxing out in the patio by the fire pit. Without a doubt a trip to remember. I look forward to my next visit here!

Why the Owner Chose Santa Cruz:
We absolutely love all the activities, weather and scenery Santa Cruz has to offer. We absolutely love going to the beach. The only thing we don’t like about the beach is the summertime fog that comes and goes. We loved this house because it put us 1.4 miles from the beach but out of the fog patterns so that we can enjoy the beach when its sunny and beautiful but not get stuck at a house covered in fog. The other limiting factor with most the homes near the beach that we looked at was the lack of space. With 4 acres, tons of parking, 2 roads, huge patios, decks and lawns…it provides us with a place to entertain our friends and family without feeling smothered by the next door neighbors or annoyed with the constant flow of traffic to and from the beach. Another thing we loved was the safety, privacy and exclusiveness of the neighborhood. An added benefit to the house that we realized after we moved in was that it was right in the center of all three Santa Cruz villages.
