Danny Morgan Islander Ballaneer wrote in the late seventies about Captiva Island, 'Island of My Dreams.' ...'you have stolen my heart.' He sang of the island's beauty and our home was built to forever portray that beauty. Some call it, the old Key West House but whatever you call it, you will love the tree house feel nestled in the natural lush vegation of the island. The house has many beautiful features like an English, antique stain glass front door, a hand carved veranda from an Victorian home in Chicago inverted over the bar and antique furniture on a white tiled floor giving the home a nice contrast to the typical Florida decor.
Captiva has miles of luxurious award winning sandy white beaches, pristine waters for swimming, unprecedented shell hunting opportunites, a charming village with resturants & live music, shopping, and it is all within walking distance of a picturesque, sunset you want forget. Our home is just steps from Chapel By The Sea and the library .

Hello Kathy, thank you very much for allowing us to stay in your home. We and our children enjoyed it a lot. It so beautifully green around the house. Our daughter loved to play around the house and to watch the geckos. Also the beach is so peaceful. The whole area is a real gem. Too bad there is this red tide problem. At the end there was a lot of dead fish at the beach. Anyway, we were very happy with our stay and thank you again for your help! MagdalenaDid you find this review helpful? We love the peacefullness of the Gingerbread House and its surroundings. It is a quaint stay where you can hear and see the sounds of nature and leave rejuvenated. It is a MUST!Owner response: I went to the rain forest in Panama with hopes of hearing and seeing many birds. Honestly, you will hear more in the morning hours being on the beautiful island of Captiva. It is the subtropics with the ocean breezes in the summer, and beautiful vegatation in the winter.

I have been to the Gingerbread house three times now. What a great place. The house is beautiful on the inside and very clean and kept up. It is very close to the beach, literally less than a five minute walk. The house is surrounded by vegetation which makes it very very private which is a big plus. The owner was very helpful in answering my questions regarding the property. island is beautiful, everyone is very friendly. If you want a great house, beautiful inside and out then you should stay here. I can't wait to go back!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, people with disabilities, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

Hello Kathy, I just wanted to drop you a note to tell you that we really enjoyed staying at your rental in Captiva Island. Your home is beautiful. We loved all the antiques and decor in the house. Most of all the dining room table where we put together a 1000 piece puzzle in the evenings. The landscaping around the house is amazing!!! We did in fact fell like we were in a treehouse. It was a lovely stay on a lovely island. Thank YouDid you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 3/3
