  The description in the listing does a good job of describing the property, but we were even more amazed upon our arrival. The deck overlooking the river is really a three-level deck, which was really great for hanging out and listening to the rush of the river. We made use of the great backyard and played some croquet and frisbee during the afternoon while grilling. The hot tub was perfect in the cool evenings. We lucked out with the weather (sunny, warm, and clear skies in April, which is rare in Oregon). The house itself was great with plenty of kitchen space and all of the gadgets we needed to prepare our meals, with a nice dining table overlooking the yard. We enjoyed the yard so much that we never ended up needing to use either of the two living rooms. We drove up to Mt. Hood Meadows for a day, which was uber-convenient. We couldn't have enjoyed ourselves more. The owner was very communicative as we prepared for our trip, quickly responding to emails and making sure we had everything we needed. Highly recommended!

  Truly one of the great VRBO properties in Oregon, we couldn't have been happier with our experience at this house. The setting is gorgeous, the house has lots of character without being shabby (like some other Mt Hood forest rentals), the price is very reasonable for larger groups and the owners are wonderful to work with. I know it takes more work for owners to manage houses themselves, but the experience of dealing directly with an owner versus a management company cannot be compared - I'll take the friendly touch of an owner every time. Looking forward to getting back to this house for a summer visit sometime when we can enjoy the great river view.

  This is the perfect cabin for a family gathering. The formal dining area was a big hit for our holiday dinner. Love the table that seats 8. The kids loved the pool room. The interior of the cabin is very nice. Leather couches are so relaxing, excellent for reading by the fire or watching a holiday movie with the family. Cabin is much larger than photos convey, almost like 2 cabins in one. One half looks like a chalet. This place would be excellent in the summertime with the huge lower deck and beach access. We will be renting again.

  We had such a great time. A great place for a family gathering. My sister,her husband and nephew flew in from Texas and they loved it. They didn't want leave. It was great the way the house can be seperated into 2 seperate areas for extra privacy. My kids loved the loft and felt "grown up" since they weren't in the room right next to Mom and Dad. The river is gorgeous and so relaxing. We definetly will be making another trip there. Things are very well set up and the owners were great about answering all of our questions.

  We were looking for a place to bring our young children to play in the snow, and the Zig Zag River Chalet ended up being the perfect place! There was enough snow at the property that we didn't have to trek up to battle the crowds at the mountain, and plenty of yard space and trails to keep everyone entertained. The cabin is set up such that there are two separate living rooms w/fireplaces that are connected by the kitchen. The comment all weekend seemed to be "there was room to spread out". This was of particular use when one side needed to be "closed" due to napping children or wandering toddlers. It worked well for us (2 families with 4 kids under the age of 6) but would be equally fitting for a group of adults. The owners were personable, responsive, and easy to work with. We will wait until our kids are "river ready" and book a summer trip in upcoming years....

  The cabin was absolutely amazing - I had high hopes, but had no idea how awesome it would be out there. Perfectly secluded but still close in. We would all love to come back sometime, so I'm sure you will be hearing from me at some point in the future. also passed on a recommendation to a coworker looking to take his family out somewhere, so he may contact you soon as well.

  We have had the pleasure of many visits to this outstanding ZigZag River home. The warmth and spaciousness is wonderful, but the river and outdoors really sets this vacation home apart from the usual.
