Fabulous neighborhood and beach access
When my husband first told me he booked this house I was a little confused because it is a bit out of town and we normally stay I right in South Haven. It was a fabulous surprise! We ended up loving the neighborhood, and the beach access was unparalleled. You’re able to drive your car right up to the beach and leave it there. The beach is, so private and just wide-open. Wonderful for rock collecting. If we hadn’t just impulsively bought a cottage in South Haven, I would want to stay here every year! Clean and lovely home, great communication with owner.

About the host

My husband and I live in the charming town of Douglas, just 10 minutes from the rental property. We moved from the city of Chicago in 2002 and have loved every minute of living in this area. Because we are now 'locals' feel free to ask questions and get recommendations on what do while you visit. Happy Travels!

Why they chose this property

We fell in love with the lakefront from South Haven to Saugatuck when we were residents of Kalamazoo many years ago. In the interim we moved to Chicago, and as much as we loved the city, we missed the peace, quiet and beauty of this area. We hoped to build a vacation home and searched for many years for the perfect location. We found Glenn Haven Shores to have the best beach (when the water is not at an all time high!) in the area and bought a lot in the early 90s. We were lucky enough to be able to move here permanently and bought this vacation house in 2002.

What makes this property unique

It's a very quiet area, with a lot of privacy when you are in the back yard. There's a wooded lot behind the house, and there's an empty wooded lot to the west, so when you are in the backyard in the summer, you can't see any of the neighbors.

There's a firepit in the backyard, roast marshmallows with the family!

The other thing we enjoy is how quiet and dark it is. On a clear night you can sit in the hot tub and see stars forever.
