Westcliffe house description
Our quaint cottage was originally an 1892 miner's dwelling. It has been lovingly upgraded to include the creature comforts of a modern home. This is our respite from the modern world so we have chosen to not include Wi-Fi but if that is an important feature for you, it is available at many of the local public spots located around town. Our backyard is the perfect setting for weddings, BBQ'S and gatherings with friends. Fully furnished kitchen with utensils and more than just basic spices, linens, comfy lazy-boy type seating in the living room to enjoy your favorite dvds or vhs, washer & dryer and a 50 gallon hot water heater to keep everyone squeeky clean. Just a couple steps out of the front door and you are smack dab in the heart of Westcliffe goings-ons. Parking available infront of the home as well as behind off the alley.
Located approximately 50 nautical miles west of Pueblo Memorial Airport and 55 nautical miles southwest of Colorado Springs Municipal Airport, Westcliffe is a small town that offers genuine old west atmosphere and hospitality. Westcliffe was built in the late 1800s as the end-of-the-line for the Denver and Rio Grande Railroad to harvest the rich silver and gold deposits found in the area and many remnants of that ancestry exist to this day. This is ranch country, and for those seeking beauty and solitude in the great outdoors, it is a prime vacation spot. Recreational activities abound with hiking, biking, camping, horseback riding, fishing, pack trips and hunting opportunities throughout the area
SilverWest Airport lays 8 nm southeast of Westcliffe in the middle of a 20 mile wide valley that is bordered on the east by the Wet Mountains, with peaks approaching 12,000 feet, and on the west by the spectacular Sangre de Cristo Mountains, the longest and straightest mountain range on earth. The Sangres' string of 13,000 and 14,000 foot snow-capped peaks tower over the 7,800 foot valley below.
We hope you will find our home to be the perfect nesting spot for your Westcliffe visit.

The perfect house
The perfect house
We stayed for two full weeks this summer. This place is spotless and cute as a bug. Although it has air conditioning it stays cool all day without even running the air so the house must be very well insulated. The two queen beds are as comfortable as our tempurpedics at home. The bath has a large shower with plenty of hot water and a nice magnifying mirror that lights up for putting on makeup or shaving. We sat out on the front porch a lot and "people watched" but there's also a newly landscaped backyard and patio with BBQ to relax in. The location is nice because it's right where the action is, yet at night when you want to sleep it really quiets down. We also enjoyed the TV and DVD. There are quite a few movies right at the house to watch. This place is really set up nice with a place for everything. And if there are two couple, the bedrooms are a distance apart for privacy although you do need to walk through on bedroom to get to the bath. The house is very organized with a place for everything. And it was nice to have a washer and dryer. I would not hesitate recommending this to anyone and hope to stay again.

"308" was the perfect location for our Labor Day weekend vacation. We felt we were in the heart of all the action yet the home is so cozy, it was like having our own little private hideaway!

About the owner: We enjoy all the lovely amenities that the Sangre de Cristo Valley has to offer. Gary is a busy computer guy during the week and I am the Founder & SE Denver coordinator of Project Linus, a successful charity that has provided over 3.5 million security blankets to seriously ill and traumatized children worldwide. We enjoy riding our motorcycles and enjoying the outdoors.
Why the Owner Chose Westcliffe:
We chose to buy our vacation rental in Westcliffe almost on a whim- a very lucky whim at that! We had purchased a 10 acre property just south of town a few years ago. The views were awe inspiring to say the least but my need to be around people and the desire to have a more pedestrian lifestyle, lead us to buying our cottage smack-dab in the middle of Westcliffe!
The Unique Benefits at this House:
Some of the unique benefits we have enjoyed while staying at our property is the opportunity to go for world class hikes within just a few miles from our home. We enjoy the tiny Amish community that is in Westcliffe providing the community with fresh baked goods at their bakery, quality handmade furniture and they have even churned homemade vanilla ice cream on the property next to us. People are very pleasant on Main Street- greeting each other with a warm smile and a hearty hello. There are many delicious restaurants, unique gift shops and a movie theater and bowling alley easily within walking distance of our home. If we ever forget anything, a well stocked grocery store is just down the street that also offers video rentals and hunting & fishing licenses/accessories. Westcliffe is a great place to beat the heat in the summer time too!
