My family stayed here (myself, wife, 18-month-old) and we were very pleased with the apartment. The host is incredibly thoughtful and warm. The location is very central to the bus line, or in a car, 5 minutes to "downtown Ballard," 10 minutes to Queen Anne, and 15 to Pike Place.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

For our 2013 family vacation we decided to visit Seattle. I found this charming apartment online and fell in love with photo of the front of the home. Even though we visited during the winter I was not disappointed. The apartment is small but so efficiently laid out that there is a space for everything. We especially enjoyed having the kitchen. The bed was hands down the most comfortable bed I have slept in that was not my own and I had no problem falling asleep. Silvia was a perfect host. She had great reccomendations for lunch and things to do with our toddler. She was also amazingly accommadating providing a full crib and plenty of toys to keep our little guy entertained for our week stay. Our family really enjoyed the feeling of being in a home rather than a hotel. It's much cozier and you can't beat the price for the amount of room and the great location. Ballard by the way has great restaurants and a wonderful Sunday farmers market. If you find this place is available don't hesitate. Book it because I can't imagine this place staying a secret for long .Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with young children, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

My husband, myself and our 3.5 yo and 15mo old boys stayed here for 4 days 3 nights. We called the day of with rapid response and accommodating replies. She assured us the area was great for kiddos and she was right! We thoroughly enjoyed parks within walking distance as well as a short drive to other attractions such as the Aquarium, the Locks and Golden Garden Beach. When we arrived, she had already set up a toddler bed for our oldest (with a cute mobile and a box of toys to play with) and there was room enough for all four of us to sleep comfortably in the one bedroom - pack and play, toddler bed, queen bed and a desk with room to easily move around! The flow of the space was great and the architectural details were very enjoyable to experience. This is a gem of a location at a wonderful price. Thank you for our wonderful visit!Recommended for: Families with young children, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

We were exceptionally pleased with our rental. Silvia, our hostess, could not have been more welcoming and helpful. The apartment was immaculate and was a welcoming place to return to after a long day out sight seeing. The bedroom is large with plenty of wardrobe space, the bed was cloud like and overall it was delightful little place to stay in Seattle. We felt immediately at home.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

The listing for this property description is very accurate regarding the location, it is convenient and accessible, nestled in a lovely, quite neighborhood. The photos are accurate, which made it easy to find and know what to expect. The property is very clean and well maintained. The owner is very helpful in providing great recommendations for cafe's and restaurants in the area. I have had three family members enjoy their stay in this suite and will be recommending other visitors to this lovely home.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

My wife and I spent an extended weekend here while visiting our son, a student at UW. The location was very convenient to everything. The bus stop was less than a 5 minute walk away and the bus trip downtown only took about 15 minutes. The apartment was extremely clean, modern and provided everything we needed. It was so much nicer to stay in a private home in a residential neighborhood than in a non-descript hotel. Silvia was a fine hostess and we certainly enjoyed our stay.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with young children, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

The property and furnishing description is very accurate but one cannot fully appreciate the warmth, comfort, and coziness until experienced! Silvia is an amazing host, quick to offer assistance and answer questions. Our visit was family-oriented as we welcomed a new grandchild into the family. Space was more than adequate to enjoy several sleep-overs with a toddler. This was a perfect accommodation and location for our visit. Although we did not make use of area activities or restaurants, we know from prior visits that anything would would want is nearby. Without hesitation, we would return and recommend this property to others!Recommended for: Age 55+, families with young children, tourists without a car, sightseeing.

Our little family had a relaxing stay at Mary House in October. The owners were so friendly and welcoming, they made sure we had everything we needed. They provided us with a crib for our daughter and their little boy even shared his toys to keep our girl occupied. We had a lovely, relaxing weekend in their suite. We will definately stay there next time we're in Seattle! Oh and I forgot my cell phone and they mailed it to me right away, thank you!Recommended for: Age 55+, families with young children, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

My husband, Peter, and I have just returned from a week stay in lovely "Mary House". It was everything we could have wanted! The rooms have been completely remodeled and there is a comfortable feeling of swedish decor and warmth, tidy, clean and cozy. The Queen bed was one of the most comfortable we have ever slept in! The kitchen and dining area were so well thought out, we had everything we needed. We also enjoyed the "rain" shower, large enought to fit my husband, 6'4" and lovely and warm enough for little me. All the notes that were there for us really helped us settle in quickly. We will definately come back to stay here on our next Seattle visit. We highly recommend Mary House for any couple! We thoroughly enjoyed our recent stay; the Mary House is a welcome alternative to any hotel room. We were able to prepare most of our meals in the very adequate kitchen area, and used the beautiful backyard for a BBQ with family and friends. The sitting area provides a very comfortable place to hang out and relax, and the bed with the European style comforter was heavenly! The surrounding neighborhood is friendly and very well-kept. We walked to nearby grocery stores and restaurants, and often walked to the main business district of Ballard (we are active walkers). The apartment is also one block from a major downtown bus line. Sylvia is very friendly and helpful with any and all questions. We've already booked a return visit!Recommended for: Tourists without a car, sightseeing.

Mary House and our host are wonderful. The apartment is spotlessly clean and contains every amenity. Our host was extremely helpful. She had provided easy-to-follow information about restaurants, activities and transportation, and she met any additional needs that we had. The yard and neighborhood are so pretty. You'll be very happy staying here. We were!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with young children, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

'Cozy European styled apartment' My husband, I and 4 month old enjoyed our stay very much and wouldn't have wanted anything to be different. We were in Seattle for a wedding/vacation and this suited our needs. It was a quiet area and perfect location for us. Silvia was a wonderful host, was available for any questions and brought us stuff throughout the week for our 4 month old. Coming from amsterdam, we felt right at home in this apartment from the duvet cover to the separate toilet and shower. Silvia even provided information for local things to do. We prefer apartments over hotels since we can cook our own meals and it has a more home like feeling while on vacation. I would highly recommend this to anyone traveling to Seattle.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Dear Silvia, What a wonderful retreat. I asked my daughter to find me an apartment close to her while I helped with the arrival of her second child. I wanted something clean and safe and this was more than perfect. Thank you for the recommendations for restaurants and tourist activities. We had dinner at the Barking Dog 3x and also at at the Pancake House. I also highly recommend the donut shop just around the corner at 75th and 15th. VirginiaDid you find this review helpful? "Lovely and Cozy, Full of Charm and Hospitality!" A quick note of thanks for the wonderful time that we had while staying at your home. The apartment is lovely and so cozy! It was a great week for our family. We meant to leave a note in the guest book, however, we packed up most all our writing gadgets and pencil did not seem appropriate for a lasting note of gratitude. There were so many sweet touches, wine, chocolates, toys for our baby to play with! Thank you for thinking of everything! Our traveling was delayed and you were so kind with our late evening arrival. With the anticipated colder weather it was a real pleasure to come home in the evening to such a warm and relaxing space. I hope that you never have an empty space available (except when we return!), and I am quite sure that as word spreads such will be the case. What a treasure! Please place this in your guest book for all to see, not that such words are necessary - if they are there, then they already know! You and your family are such a treasure - we hardly spotted you, yet we felt sadness in waving goodbye...Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

I am from the East Coast and I stayed at this place for more than a week to visit a friend in Seattle. The location is excellent to visit downtown. You don't need a car actually and I took a lot of times the bus to downtown (25 min. away). The neighborhood is lovely, charming and safe and has a grocery store and bakery close by. It was a great option and much better than any hotel. The apartment was spacious, cozy, clean. The bed was extremely comfortable and the kitchen was equipped with a water cooker, toaster, oven, fridge. It was a wonderful stay and i would always come back! The family was extremely welcoming, friendly and thoughtful regarding fresh towels etc. . Highly recommend this place!!!!!!Recommended for: Age 55+, families with young children, tourists without a car, sightseeing.

This apartment was ideal for us firstly because of location, and secondly because of how affordable it was. It was a much better experience than staying in a hotel for the weekend! The owners are incredibly nice, and have obviously worked very hard to create an apartment that is cozy and comfortable. One of the owners even looked up directions to the Convention we would be attending, as well as left us a small pitcher of cream and a stove-top espresso maker once she realized we were coffee drinkers. We loved this rental, and it will definitely be our first pick for future trips.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with young children, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

My husband and I loved this rental. We wanted a rental in Ballard and were pleased to find this apartment close to our son's home. The location was convenient to travel and there were stores and restaurants nearby. The basement apartment was very airy and bright with windows at eye level. The owner was very helpful and gave great advice on nearby locations. We felt safe and comfortable in this quiet alternative to a hotel. The little kitchen was stocked with everything we needed. It was great to have ample room to store items! We loved the unique feeling of this property- not your typical cookie cutter room! It was very nice to have a separate bedroom! We are already planning another stay here! We loved the bed! Soooo comfortable! We wanted to take it home with us! Great experience! Thanks Silvia!Recommended for: Age 55+, sightseeing.

"Wonderful Location" My husband, 9 year old daughter and myself all loved this vacation rental. This wonderful basement apartment was clean and quiet. The quaint neighborhood is safe and has beautiful well kept yards. We were on a full blown "see the sights" kind of vacation, so we came home every night very tired and found this rental homey and relaxing after spending the days running. The Muehlbauers were so helpful by providing maps, directions and suggestions on things to do while we were there. It was a great vacation and I would recommend this vacation rental.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

"It was extremely comfortable and pleasant." I was very pleased with the location and it's proximity to the bus lines. My son's home was about a mile away and there is a grocery store in walking distance and a bakery the other direction. The family who own the place could not have been nicer. The only improvement would have been better lighting outside at night by the door. The owners already had plans in place to do this, but knew I needed a place before they could get it done. All in all it was a great experience!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

My husband and I recently traveled from Bar Harbor Maine to visit our daughter and son-on-law in Ballard, on the outskirts of downtown Seattle. We started browsing the internet to find a cozy and comfortable rental property (Ballard has no real hotels) where we could have time alone to relax and a kitchen to cook our own meals. We found the perfect location in Silvia's lovely basement apartment - bright, cozy and immaculate. The apartment was only two miles from our daughter's apartment and in walking distance to a grocery store. We had our own private entrance and although Silvia was always available if we needed her, we never felt that we were sharing someone's home. Not only that, but the bed was as comfortable as our bed at home - not always the case with hotel beds. We couldn't have been happier with our decision and will definitely stay in Silvia's lovely apartment again whenever we visit our daughter and son-in-law. However, I'm guessing that as the word gets out, we'll have to be sure to book well in advance to guarantee our reservation. Thanks again Silvia. You and your home were both charming!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with young children, tourists without a car, sightseeing.
