  Absolutely loved this quaint little cottage. Our first time there and most definitely will not be our last. The home was so comfortable and relaxing. The homeowners graciously allow you to bring your doggie into the home. Our little Frenchie just loved laying on the front deck getting some sun. Good location and the homeowner, Jann, took care of us. Thank you for the use of your home. We highly recommend it.

  The cottage was meticulously finished and decorated. High quality furniture, appliances, and decor. Even the sleep sofa was very high quality. The kitchen was well appointed with cooking utensils, cookware, and oils and spices. There was a bottle of wine in the fridge and a beautiful bouquet of roses on the table when we arrived. The space was both elegant and inviting. I run a bed and breakfast, and I was very impressed with the level of hospitality offered by Jann and the accommodations of cottage.

  We loved this cozy cottage by the sea! It worked perfectly for us and our two canine companions. After a long day of exploring the beautiful Carmel and Big Sur area, it was so wonderful to return "home" to this lovely and comfortable retreat. The house was beautifully decorated and well appointed. The landscaping was charming and tranquil. Jann was a joy to work with - very detailed and attentive. The house is a little hard to find, so ask for the directions before you go. We hope to return here in the near future, and we definitely recommend it!

  My wife and I along with our dog thoroughly enjoyed our time at the cottage. It had everything we needed. The setting was perfect, quiet, secluded and the cottage was very comfortable and cozy - especially the fire place. On our walks the views were spectacular! We will be back later this year to take advantage of this find. Jann is a great hostess and took care of our every need.

  This cozy cottage by the sea was the perfect home away from home for Thanksgiving. It is perfectly equipped with everything you could possibly need and so many extras. The care and love that is put into maintaining the home and making sure it is perfectly comfortable shows in every little nuance. From the gorgeous landscape to the decorative touches, there were holiday pumpkins put out for us all around and it really felt like a special home. It was perfectly clean and modern and close to everything. It's amazing to be completely nestled in the forest and still only a 5 minute drive down a beautiful scenic Hwy and have the convenience of markets and restaurants. The owners are extremely hospitable and accomadating, we were very well taken care of and felt looked after. Thank you for this amazing retreat in the Carmel Highlands.

  My boyfriend and I were looking for a quick getaway for the weekend to take a break from life. What a perfect place! Jann was just absolutely wonderful and made us feel right at home. The cottage has a great character to it, and yet all the touches within the home are high quality. From the linens on the bed, the well stocked kitchen, fireplace in the living room....around every corner there was something else we were able to enjoy. We took up Jann's suggestion on watching the sunset at the rock bench just a short walk away. What a stunning view!!! It was truly a perfect home, with everything we needed, and we would return anytime we could!

  We really don't know where to begin, all we can say is it was the most relaxing five days vacation we have ever had. The cottage sits right above the world-famous Highlands Inn of Carmel where we had great lunches dinners at the two restaurants on the facility. We walked the dog daily up to the bench that was recommended by Jann and listen to the seals, watch the fog roll in and listen to the crashing waves. And with the Monterey aquarium passes that are available, we were able to take our two children to an experience that they will soon not forget seals, birds otters etc. what more can anyone asked for. We really can't put into words how much we enjoyed our stay at the cottage by the sea! It was relaxing, warm, loving and more importantly felt like home. We truly can't wait for next vacation, and this time, without the kids. Anyone that is looking for a complete solitude getaway, regroup and get your body and mind back in motion this is the only place.

  The Cottage by the Sea exceeded all of my expectations. The location is perfect--close to the downtown area of Carmel but far enough away to feel "off the beaten path". The house is charming and filled with character but also provides all sorts of modern amenities. It has a beautiful backyard area and deck and there are lots of places to rest and relax. The bed was very comfortable (like sleeping in a soft cloud!) and the living area was cozy with an easy-to-light fireplace and big screen TV. Jann was great to work with. She was organized and responsive and went out of her way to make sure I would feel comfortable and welcomed. I highly recommend this rental for anyone looking for a wonderful get-away home in Carmel!

  My husband, dog and I were lucky enough to secure this wonderful cottage for a restful, peaceful four night stay. The owner, Jann, is a very thoughtful and accommodating owner. Jann delivered on providing a great place to stay; she thinks of everything you may want, even dog bowls, leash and flashlights! I look forward to a future stay and we highly recommend the Cottage by the Sea.

  Spent a wonderful few July days here and dreaded heading home to the heat. What a treat is was to enjoy a cool weather summer trip! The cottage is adorable and so well equipped. We never wanted for a single thing, it's as if everything we needed magically appeared! The yard was delightful, our little poodles loved the small hill in the back and the deck. Husband loved the TVs of course! But he also loved nearby Point Lobos for early morning hikes. We used the Aquarium passes and took the dogs to Dawg Gone It ( recommend!) in Monterey while we enjoyed a day on the Peninsula. Had several great evenings on Carmel where dogs can run leash-free. Favorite thing was the gorgeous, peaceful neighborhood and the darling cottage. Have stayed in at least 10 VRBOs and Jann is the most responsive, conscientious owner I have ever dealt with. Looking forward to a return trip,
