Our Garden Home Guesthouse is a beautiful 1600 square foot, two bedroom two and a half bath house on West 3rd Avenue. Take a short walk to dinner downtown, or enjoy the extensive River Trail that runs along the banks of the Animas just a few blocks from the house. Or just sit on the classic front porch overlooking this quiet old-town Avenue neighborhood lined with huge trees. Feel good about taking a green vacation… this house has a 4.5 KW PV solar system providing 100% of the electricity!!
Garden Home is decorated in a serene garden style with high quality furnishings and original artwork. There is a full kitchen gas range and oven, kitchen aid dishwasher, plenty of dishes and pots and pans to cook a holiday meal for your family. All the little things like coffee, oil, and spices are there to make you feel at home. Also a full sized washer and dryer for your use with supplies provided. Two beautiful bedrooms upstairs have high-end queen sized mattresses for a comfortable nights sleep. There are down comforters and lots of extra towels and linens.
Totally kid and pet friendly with our “Romper Room” full of toys that opens up to a fenced back yard. Your kids and dogs will have a blast exploring the nature trail up the back hill, safely fenced in. We have kids and dogs ourselves so have outfitted the house with plug covers and baby gates.
It is a 30-minute drive to Purgatory (DMR) where you can ski some of Colorado’s best. Or just stay in and make popcorn and take advantage of our comfy leather furniture, DVD Collection, LCD TV with Dish and small library of great books, and of course Wireless High Speed Internet. The downstairs has vaulted ceilings and slate tile floors with in floor heat for your winter comfort. The dining room has a glass door that opens up to a private courtyard covered with a trellis, a great place to have a romantic dinner al fresco.
We are local and have lived in Durango for a long time, so can help you plan your perfect downtown Durango vacation.

We recently stayed at the Garden Home for three nights. We could not have asked for a better place to stay! I am a very picky person and an extreme clean freak, so I am always somewhat nervous to see the cleanliness of the home. This house was very clean everything in place, not a speck of dust or Dirt to be found. It had everything we could possibly need; pots and pans, laundry detergent, zip lock bags, you name it the house had it. We brought our two dogs and they loved the backyard. It was fenced in and safe for Them to romp around in. The landlord Holly was fantastic! So hospitable and available the entire extent of our stay in case we needed her. I was so impressed! We will absolutely be returning to the Garden Home. I would recommend this house to any and everyone!Recommended for: Tourists without a car, age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, people with disabilities, families with young children, pet owners, romantic getaway, adventure seekers.

This was a great place to stay. It was close to downtown, had ample space for our dogs and was nestled right in a quiet neighborhood, made me feel like I lived in Durango! Close to hiking trails, restaurants and fully functional kitchen. We will be back!Recommended for: Tourists without a car, families with young children, adventure seekers.

We loved staying in this comfortable, light, airy, totally outfitted home right near a great park and the river walk. The playroom had fun things to play with the baby and the dog loved having a two story enclosed yard to either sun on or sleep in the shade. BBQ grill and patio bar was wonderful for an afternoon lunch even if it was November. Floor heating was efficient and toasty toes:) Thank you Holly for being so easy to work with and accommodating.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, families with young children, pet owners, romantic getaway, adventure seekers.

We enjoyed our stay at the Garden House. The location was perfect - in a quiet little neighborhood with easy access to everything we needed. We took the (free) trolley everyday. We also enjoyed walking to the park, the Discovery Museum, the Library and along the Animas River Trail. The beds were very comfortable and everything we could have needed was already stocked at the house (spices, garbage bags, foil, sandwich baggies, toilet paper, etc). Holly was great to work with. The dinosaurs in the play room were a huge hit with our 3 year old...And the best part was enjoying the weather (especially the rain :-)) while sitting on the front porch! We will be back!Recommended for: Tourists without a car, age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, sightseeing, families with young children, pet owners.

Very nice, clean, comfy place to stay. We had 4 adults. The bed in the master was super comfy!! Nice big counter space in the master bath as well. Plenty of room for luggage. The master has a stained glass window about the size of a stop sign that faces the direction the sun rises. We put up some foil in the window to reduce the light in the morning so we could sleep (we are very sensitive to light - others may not have an issue w/ this). Wifi worked great. Kitchen was clean & had all that we needed - except only one knife that we could find. The washer/dryer worked good. A very short drive to downtown & the trainstation. DVD player was nice after a day of outdoor activities we were exhausted. I definetely recommend this home & would stay here again if in the area! Owners were very helpful & super easy to work with!Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, families with young children, pet owners, adventure seekers.

The home was spacious, clean, comfortable and delightful. The Master bed was great. On Main St or the River Trail, it was a pleasant, easy walk into town. This was our second consecutive year to stay at The Garden Home! It is in a great location near downtown and not to far of a drive from the slopes! This home is definitely a home away from home! We were able have a campfire, barbeque, cook dinners, laundry, access Internet, watch movies, play with the dogs and there is even heated floors!! We would highly recommend this home for a romantic getaway, family vacation as well as a great place for a small group of friends to reunite! Thanks for a great way to start off our New Year! Hope to see ya next year!Recommended for: Tourists without a car, age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, sightseeing, families with young children, pet owners, romantic getaway, adventure seekers.

Thanks Holly and Ben for a wonderful stay. There were many small touches that made our stay great. Stocking your shelves with condiments, spices, sugar, creamer, laundry detergent, coffee, shampoo, soap, pens/pencils, writing paper, etc. was wonderful because I didn't have to purchase these things separately. Nicely laid out home, with everything easy to find, and very clean. The children's playroom was a lifesaver, along with the DVD collection. Additionally, allowing our dog to stay made things very nice. We will definitely be staying here again.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, sightseeing, families with young children, pet owners.

My boys and I recently stayed in this home on W. 3rd Avenue. It was very comfortable and spacious which allowed us to truly relax. The street is quiet and very convenient to downtown. There is a park about a block away that my boys walked to every night to play baseball. We loved Durango and if we eve return, I would want to stay here again. Owners are very friendly and nice to work with too.Recommended for: Tourists without a car, age 55+, families with teenagers, sightseeing, families with young children, pet owners.

My wife and I stayed in this house for 5 weeks, Found it very comfortable, very good location. Just a few minutes from Downtown but none of the Downtown traffic. Loved the heated floor tiles, The kitchen was great and nice to use. Found the owners very nice to work with. The neighborhood where the house is at is very peaceful and all the neighbors around house very quiet. Since we stayed in the winter months didn't get to use the front or back porch much but I could see that it would be real nice in the summer months. So if your looking for a great place to rent this is it.Recommended for: Tourists without a car, age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, people with disabilities, sightseeing, families with young children, pet owners, romantic getaway, adventure seekers.

Why the Owner Chose Private Homes, Downtown:
Location to downtown Durango, the River Trail, the library, and the Recreation Center. This is the best neighborhood in Durango!
The Unique Benefits at this House:
Quiet old-town neighborhood that is super safe and close to the river trail and downtown. This is a gorgeous house, very family and pet friendly, and the back yard is super private, and now totally fenced for dogs and kids. Also I love how there is an outdoor arbored patio right off the kitchen for indoor/outdoor meals and entertaining. Great Weber BBQ. The beds are new and amazingly comfortable with super nice sheets and great down blankets. Beautiful house, lots of light, great place for a family to enjoy Durango.
