Burns is one of the most beautiful lakes in the area (about 350 acres), with great fishing. This real log home was built by executives who loved the woods. You will never find a lovelier setting for your ultimate relaxation in the wilderness. Listen to the lake, paddle in the kayaks, fish, soak in the hot tub, ski, snowshoe, hike or mountain bike on logging roads and private paths.
All bathrooms are tiled and luxurious. Relax in the 24 foot tall great room with the full-height fireplace. Gourmet cooks will love the kitchen - with calphalon cookwear. The house was completely redone for the 2011 season, with oriental rugs and luxurious leather furniture, a home gym, lounge area with wet bar, and rustic log beds by a local artist. The Chippewa National Forest in northern Minnesota covers a huge proportion of Itasca County. We live among hundreds of thousands of acres of wilderness and very little private land. The Forest itself consists of 1.6 million acres, and hosts the largest population of nesting bald eagles in the lower 48 states. During your stay, you may see osprey, eagles, pileated woodpeckers, hawks, red foxes and of course lovely white tail deer. winter evenings think about the great day outdoors and curl up in front of your own huge stone fireplace with hot gingerbread and coffee, a mystery novel or the love of your life!

Owner's Profile
Owner Description
Year Purchased: 2010
I'm a researcher and an author (Martha Grace Reese), my husband is president of a publishing company. We love our land and the lakes in the north woods! We kayak as many of the 1000 lakes in our county as we can and are members of a canine search and rescue team. Please come north to join us in the most gorgeous place on earth!
Why the Owner Chose Burns Lake
Burns Lake Cabin is "next door" to the cabin we built and live in - "next door" is 1/2 mile down our private road and a mile through 100 year old woods from the public road! We have 60 acres of prime woodland and over 3000 feet of shoreline. Burns Lake Cabin is at the end of the property, in the oldest, most beautiful woods, and right next to Chippewa National Forest. So you, as our guest, share our home woods and the place we love best in the world. Burns Lake is gorgeous (and great fishing!), the woods are so quiet and peaceful - the house is one of the most beautiful in the area.
The Unique Benefits of this Cabin
Fishing, boating, swimming, sailing, long walks in the woods, over private roads. We love hiking, snowshoeing, nordic skiing! We have a terrific restaurant in the area, and one of the most exciting live theaters and art galleries in Minnesota (go figure!) Come join us!

We stayed here with our family in the summer of 2011. What wonderful memories we made. Very private. The cabin and facilities are superb. Everyone loved it and begs to go back. A little off the beaten path (for us prairie folk) but worth the drive. Fantastic owners that care and put the extras in to make it a wonderful experience.
Recommended for:Families with teenagers, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, age 55+, sightseeing, families with young children.
