Posh Rainforest Villa Overlooking Costa Rica's Pacific Coast
- Minimum stay:2-3 nights
- Internet:No
- Pets allowed:Yes
- Wheel chair accessible:Yes
Casa Buendía is where modern architecture meets the rainforest above Costa Rica´s beautiful South Pacific coast. If you are looking for a contemporary home-base from which to explore and enjoy Costa Rica´s most amazing natural assets, look no further!
Spectacular coastal and mountain views abound in this 5,000 sqft 4 bedroom luxury hideaway, which includes a large office with private bath (converting to a 5th bedroom if needed). Swimming pool, Jacuzzi, and Palapa-covered terraces beautifully contrast the clean modernistic lines of the house. The main floor surrounds a small inner garden courtyard and fountain. Large, bright fully appointed kitchen has granite counters, gas stove, and wet-bar. Adjacent dining and living rooms boast double-height vaulted ceiling, accessed from a gallery-styled passage and stunning vestibule entrance. On the upper floor, an elevated walkway separates the swank, private master bedroom from another VIP guest suite, along with two more bedrooms, each with balconies and breathtaking views. A giant 3-car garage, laundry room and storage area comprise the lower floor below.
Casa Buendía is located on 2 ½ acres (1 hectare) of forested land, bordered by a mountain stream on the westernmost limit, accessible via a private footpath. Toucans, howler and white faced monkeys are common attractions. Just to the south lies Ballena National Marine Park and Corcovado National Park, while Manuel Antonio National Park is a short drive away to the North. Surfing, sport-fishing, diving, hiking, birdwatching, mountainbiking, horseback riding, sea and river kayaking and rafting, are just some of the activities offered in the area. Spa treatment, maid service and gourmet food preparation are available on request.

This was our second time to Casa Buendia, and it is truly is a magical house. We decided to spend half of our trip outside Montezuma, and half returning to the Dominical area. This trip confirmed that Casa Buendia is such a special place, and there is really no reason to look elsewhere. We will continue to return to this house each time we visit Costa Rica.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

Amazing home with beautiful view, from every room in the house! We enjoyed the pool, and the beautiful sunrises and sunsets. We also enjoyed hearing the howler monkies at sunrise. Perfect family adventure! The meal we had cooked on our arrival day was delicious. Enjoyed Eric taking us to waterfall early in day on last day of our stay. Eric, Yelba and Luis were all helpful and friendly.None of us wanted to leave and we will definately be back!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, sightseeing.

We had a wonderful holiday with a family of 5 adults and 2-year-old. The house was spacious enough for all of us to have own privacy, pool was perfect also for our small child and everything was just like in the pictures - no surprices there! The garden was full of life - birds and monkeys- and much more in a short drive away. In the house description 4-wheel-drive is recommended, but from our experience it's a must. Even during dry season it would be a real challenge to dry driving up there with normal two-wheel-drive. Surrounding area is quiet and not suitable for party seekers. Fun & tasty Jolly Rodger's bar was a short walk/ drive away, so if you don't want to make your own dinner every evening, their chicken wings and burgers are excellent choices! We also booked Luis to cook for us for the first evening, which was a perfect start for our luxurious holiday. Me and my family warmingly recommend this house to all! We had a wonderful holiday with great thanks to this lovely house!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Casa Buendia exceeded all of my expectations - the house as beautiful as the pictures and the views are absolutely STUNNING. The house is set up perfectly for large groups and families with a great balance of common areas and private spaces. The house comes with every amenity you could possibly need. We saw lots of great wildlife in the trees while relaxing at the pool (toucans, humming birds, and even a monkey!) and took a great hike around the property - there is a waterfall not too far away. You truly feel like you are in paradise! Dominical is a great town - not too touristy and very relaxing - lots of surfers. There is a bar/restaurant half way up the hill to Casa Buendia called Jolly Rogers that has great food (pizza, wings, burgers), cold beer, and American football on the TV! Tortilla Flats in Dominical is also great for food. Stand Up Paddleboarding in Dominical with Shawn was awesome - he was a great teacher with lots of energy. Quepo Canyoning (near Quepos) was spectacular - our favorite activity by far. It was a 45 min drive from the house, but totally worth it. The "monkey drop" is something you will never forget! You will definitely need to rent a car to get around (make sure it is a four wheel drive) - taxis will come up to the house, but they tend to be a little pricey. The caretakers on property (Juan and Glenda) are friendly and beyond helpful. Louis, the property manager, cooked us an amazing meal the first night of our stay - it was a great way to start off our vacation. Vince, the owner of the house, is a pleasure to work with - he was very responsive to answer all of my questions and accommodate all of our requests. I highly recommend a trip to Casa Buendia - I will definitely be returning in the future!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

Every element of our stay was perfect! The house was impressive in its design, cleanliness and comfort. The staff was impressive in their ability to provide fabulous meals, a clean home and pool and beautifully groomed gardens, even though we rarely saw them. The chef prepared meals were absolutely superb! Even their reference to Uvita Information Center, yielded curtious assistance and linked us to the greatest experiences scuba diving, surfing, zip lining, and even restaurants. Our week at Casa Buendia can only be descibed as perfection! And all that was complimented by stunning views of the Pacific, the stream that can be heard in the house and the amazing monkeys that call from the trees. We can not wait to return!! Thank you Casa Buendia!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 3/3

Esperamos regresar pronto.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

Our group of 9, composed of two families with five children ages 6-12 stayed for one week in March 2012. This house met our every need and exceeded all expectations. The home is very spacious yet welcoming, open and breezy. The house and everything in it feel new and are exceptionally clean and well kept. The kitchen is large and functional, with everything you could need. The views are breathtaking, the pool pristine and large enough for 5 active kids. From the large outside living area we watched birds including acaris, and listened to howler monkeys. The on-site caretakers were friendly, most helpful, and gave us peace of mind at night and when we were away from the house. We will definitely return to stay again, and would recommend this property to anyone.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway.

If you are looking for the great rental in Costa Rica, look no further. This house was fantastic. Every room is perfectly designed. The pictures don't do it justice, There are balconies off of every bedroom and it had a great living area. We loved this house and didn't want to leave. We arrived on Sunday afternoon and immediately put on our swim suits and settled in. Luis cooked a delicious dinner for our family. It was so good, we asked him to cook another meal later in the week. Don't pass on this option! Sonia at Uvita Tours took care of all of our activities from canopy zip lining, horseback riding on the beach, hiking in the rainforest, kayaking in the Pacific Ocean to massages at the house. The housekeepers Juan and Glenda, were great. Juan took us to the waterfall near the house. We never would have found it without his help. What a fantastic vacation! We can't wait to return to Casa Buendia!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 3/3

Corcovado National Park View on map
Ecologically varied, the Corcovado National Park is among the most biologically intense places on earth. Located on the wild and untamed Osa Peninsula, this national park is breathtakingly beautiful and is one of the remotest parks in the country. Home to the largest and only tropical primary lowland rainforest in the world, the Corcovado National Park is also the habitat of a plethora of endangered plant and animal species. Created in 1975 to protect this gorgeous region from illegal gold mining and logging, the Parque Nacional Corcovado is today, an extremely popular ecotourism destination. Mostly undisturbed because of its isolation and inaccessibility, it is home to the beautiful Scarlet Macaws as well as the Resplendent Quetzals,

Owner info
Year Purchased: 2009
About the owner: We are an American-Costa Rican couple married for over 17 years. We are world travelers and active outdoor action sports afficionados. We bought land in Dominical after falling in love with the place during surf trip getaways, back in 1998. Ten years later, we decided to build our dream house and share it with family, friends, and guests!
Why the Owner Chose Dominical:
We are in Dominical because it offers so much to so many kinds of adventurers! We have been to Asia, Africa, the Middle East, a throughout North, Central, and South America, and we have yet to find a place that is so natural, wild, scenic, and fun. Amazing surf and lush forest waterfalls drew us in. Eventually, we discovered other options, including kayaking in the Savegre river, exploring Corcovado National Park (one of the most bio-diverse locations on the planet). It is far enough from the big cities and overbuilt tourist traps, but still close enough to make for a 2.5 hour drive on the new highway from San Jose.
The Unique Benefits at this Villa:
Comfortable, luxurious living in the middle of the rainforest, in a new contemporary house with private swimming pool, Jacuzzis, and a feeling of peace. A jungle trail is on the property, with occasional monkey and colorful frog spottings, not to mention toucans and hundreds of other bird species. Our brother Luis manages the property, a super friendly Tico who knows how to make your stay the most comfortable and enjoyable possible. This house is an ideal home base for day trips to the myriad nature and adventure sports options available in the near vicinity.
