Wonderful Breckenridge Area Cabin

My family enjoyed this cabin for 4 nights during early January 2013. Our group was comprised of mom and dad, two children (ages 4 and 2) and grandma. The cabin is very spacious and could accommodate 6 adults and 3-4 children in the beds, and there are also two couches and a futon. The description and photos of the cabin on the website are accurate (except there has been a nice leather couch added in the living room not shown in a couple photos). The cabin was very clean, modernized and nicely furnished and decorated. You can see that the owners care for the place and have been doing upgrades (new tile in the bathrooms is well done). We loved the mountain view from the dining room and living room. The location is excellent, about 5 minutes south of town. The cabin is 100-200 yards off Hwy 9 (so you don't need a 4WD to get there in the winter), but road noise was not an issue. The cabin is in a small neighborhood, but the lot is large, there is a forest behind it and it is quiet and private. The owners have thoughtfully appointed the cabins, especially for families with children. We appreciated the basement gameroom with lots of toys, games and puzzles to keep kids of all ages occupied during down-time. There is a Pack 'n' Play and high chair provided for little ones. There were also sleds in the garage and a good, moderately steep sled run behind and beside the cabin. The cabin has a full kitchen and all appliances, large and small (including coffee maker), and plates and utensils. (Bring your own food, but many staples are provided.) There is a spacious dining area with a large beautiful wood dining set. The wood burning stove (firewood provided) is nice and generates more than enough heat on winter nights. There is also baseboard heat that works great alone if you don't want to start a fire. The cabin has two TVs and Wi-Fi internet for computers and cell phones. (It was reliable and fast, except my laptop would sometimes hang on the connection and require a reboot.) The cabin is on the edge of AT&T cell range and we could get enough bars for a call in the dining room about 75% of the time. (The cabin also has a landline.) We didn't test the hot tub on the deck but the heater was running and it appeared ready to go. There is hassle-free, self-service check-in, which is great if you're arriving late. The owners were very easy to work with. All in all, a great place to stay and we would definitely return and recommend it to others.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

We are having a great time. The hot tub is new & easy to use & the stars are so bright. Location makes it soooo easy to get to the slopes, even if it just snowed. The best amenities I have EVER seen in any rental property hands down.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, girls getaway, adventure seekers, families with young children.

Owner info
Year Purchased: 2000
About the owner: Dave is an avid skier (learned at school in Switzerland). I don't possess his ability but do enjoy the blue & green slopes. Like most children, our son Ryan took to the slopes with no fear. Dave loves the outdoors, he usually spends his time outside rather than inside. Although I enjoy the outdoors, I can usually be found inside involved with art, design, decorating and charity work (usually involving children). Ryan just completed college & is an auto enthusiast.
Why the Owner Chose Blue River:
We chose Breckenridge, CO because besides the main event, skiing, there are a lot of other things to do both in winter & summer. Breckenridge has something for everyone. We chose the location of the cabin because we wanted a property 5-10 mins. from town & the slopes, one that was wooded, had mountain views, privacy, and backed up to National Forest. When we found the cabin it was love at first sight. We could just picture ourselves cozying up in front of the wood-burning fireplace.
