Beautiful home with an unbelievable view
Beautiful home with an unbelievable view
You won't find many rentals that you will feel as comfortable in as this one. The home is spacious and has all of the comforts you need, plus some. The three full-length balconies provide a view that can't be matched. I spent hours swinging in the two person swing, looking over the lake and surrounding mountains. The kitchen was perfect, even for a large Thanksgiving meal. The location is remote, but close enough to a town that you can run out for groceries without too much of a burden. It snowed while we were there, but the roads were still manageable. Communications were difficult at times with no cell service, a somewhat flaky phone line and limited satellite Internet. But, you shouldn't be spending too much time on the phone or Internet in this location anyway. This is a true getaway. My only disappoint, and the only reason I couldn't give a perfect score, was the lake's water level. It is a power-generating reservoir, so the levels fluctuate greatly depending on rain amounts. We had to walk through very slick mud to get to the water's edge and put in the canoe or kayak. This wasn't possible for the older ones in my group. That being said, once on the lake, the recreation was wonderful. Even with the low water level, I wouldn't hesitate to visit again.

Brown Family Vacation
Brown Family Vacation
Each year we as a family look for a place to rent for a week. We looked at lakes in NY and Virginia however during our search we ran across this beautiful home on the lake in N.C.. The photos on the web doesn't do the house justice. A beautiful home with room for 3 children and their spouses and 3 grandchildren. If not enough to enjoy canoing on the lake with there is rafting and a train ride within a 30 minute drive. One day we did rent a pontoon boat from the marina. This allowed us to explore the lake where we found the water falls, a little island with a rope swing, and some tried tubing. The owner does allow well behaved pets. My dog had as much fun as did the entire family. . Dwight did call at least 2 times to make sure first that we arrived as planned and again to follow up that everything was going OK . Overall it was a great week will certainly contact Dwight again if we decide to vacation at a lake again

Owner response: Thanks for being our guest and it's great to hear that your vacation turned out well. Vacation is an important time for family and friends. We hope we made yours better. Dwight
We spent a very special anniversary @ Liz and Dwight's wonderful lake house. Views of the lake are awesome from the decks and you are right on the water. The house itself is amazing, comfortable and well stocked with most everything you would need. Rented a pontoon @ Lakes End Marina and Steve was great to deal with. Was going to rent the pontoon a 2nd day but it rained.. We would highly recommend this house to anyone looking for a mountain lake getaway. Lots to do in the area when you want to explore.

Wonderful Family Retreat
Wonderful Family Retreat
Our family had an amazing time at Nantahala, and found this house to be the perfect retreat. The owners take great pride in their house, and it shows. Absolutely everything is in top-notch condition, and they even called to check in and make sure there were no problems. To get on the water, we rented a pontoon boat, which was incredibly easy to do. The kids loved being towed behind on the inner tube, and it was fun for all of us to explore the lake from the water. You can also hop in the kayak and canoe that come with the house. There's a nearby island with a rope swing that is an easy paddle away. Being right on the water is fabulous. The deck faces East, so it is a wonderfully relaxing place to start your morning, enjoying a cup of coffee while the sun rises and the mist lifts off the lake. And once the kids woke up, swimming couldn't have been easier. The kids could simply change into their bathing suits and run down the dock and jump on in. It is deep enough for diving. The dock gets some nice shade in the afternoon, which saved us from having to reapply sunscreen late in the day. The house is on a quiet, dead-end road, so it was a very peaceful place to relax. The kids want me to add that they enjoyed evening campfires down at the fire pit! The place is pretty remote, so there isn't a grocery store nearby. But with a little planning ahead, that wasn't a problem. We just packed coolers to take all of the food we needed for the week. All in all, it was an unforgettable week of peace, quiet, tranquility, family relaxation, and fun!

We spent New Year's on Lake Nantahala in the home called "Hooked by the View". This home was everything and more as described by the owner! Dwight obviously takes so much pride in his home. The house was immaculate and so well stocked with everything you could imagine you would need, except your own food. The Christmas tree was unbelievable! I have never seen such a beautiful tree except maybe in a 5-star hotel. My family felt so comfortable the entire time, it was truely like a home away from home. Dwight contacted us the first night to make sure we had all arrived safely and made sure everything was satisfactory and if we needed anything. What great customer service! We spent the days walking, canoeing, kayaking and gathered outside at the firepit. What a great relaxing time we had away from our busy lives! Thanks Dwight. We'll definitely recommend your place to anyone who wants to get away from it all!

Owner response: Thanks for the kind words. I realize how valuable peoples' time is and the expense and stress involved in getting away to relax. I just want you to have a positive experience and I want to be part of the solution; not part of any problem. It gives me and my family great pleasure for you and your family to be able to enjoy a place that's so special. "Thanks"
My friends and I had a wonderful time at this beautiful mountain home. Everything we could possibly need for an outstanding time was provided and the home and scenery were beautiful. All eight of us had a wonderful time and we want to thank these wonderful people for a great girl's weekend...all eight of us had a ball!

My family and I stayed at this beautiful home just 2 weeks ago and I cant say enough about how beautiful and perfect this home is! We made memories here that will last a lifetime. The home seems brand new, is extremely clean, and the views from almost every room are breathtaking! Sitting on the porch rocking chair early every morning watching the fog rise from the lake was one of the most peaceful experiences I have ever had. My children loved fishing off of the private dock and jumping into the water right off of the dock too. The house has every amenity we could have possibly needed. It is so warm and cozy and I only wish we could have stayed longer. The entire house is beautiful!!! I cannot say enough about the owner, Dwight. He was an absolute pleasure to speak with and plan our accomodations at his home. Just by speaking with him the first time on the phone I could tell how much pride he takes in his home and I just knew it would be lovely. He called us the day we arrived to offer his assistance with anything we might need during our stay, and even went out of his way to help us with directions. I have already recommened this beautiful home on pristine Lake Nantahala to some of my coworkers. My family and I will absolutely be returning to his home to make more wonderful memories in the future. Thank you so much Dwight for giving us the opportunity to share your special home! It was a pleasure to "meet you".

I enjoyed my weekend at your cabin so much. Entertaining was perfect with your open kitchen to the den with a beautiful view of the lake the entire time. Y'all made your home so comfortable to quests with every amenity desired. The water was so clear and the view was awesome. We loved renting the boat at the marina and taking a hike to the waterfalls. That was truly a beautiful site! It was so relaxing taking the afternoon hikes with my dog on the many private roads. Thank you again for opening your home to us. We will be back very soon.
