Property description

THIS PROPERTY IS NOT CURRENTLY AVAILABLE UNTIL JULY OF 2016. This gracious and welcoming Craftsman home was built in 1913 and has been enlarged and completely modernized while keeping many of the original features such as hard wood flooring, high ceilings and a wood burning fireplace.

Walk into a large open plan, living room, dining room and kitchen, furnished with English and Canadian antiques and paintings. The main floor bathroom has a large claw foot bathtub equipped with a shower. Also on the main floor is the master bedroom with a queen sized bed and a view of the garden. There is a reading and TV room with a piano on this level. The upper floor is accessed by a sky-lit stairway, leading to two bedrooms with peaked ceilings and south facing views. One bedroom has twin beds, while the other has a queen. The bathroom upstairs has a sky light for lots of sun and fresh air with a full bathtub and shower. A washer and dryer are also located on this floor. There is a large private patio at the south end of the heavily planted perennial garden which features a water fountain that attracts a number of colorful birds. The patio contains a dining table for six plus a barbecue.

The home is within easy walking or biking distance of the Ocean, Kits beach, shopping on 4th Avenue and Broadway. There are also numerous playgrounds in easy walking distance making a family stay fun for children. There are a variety of restaurants close by, from fine dining to funky bagel shops as well as a wide choice of ethnic takeaways. A system of bikeways along the water is very close by. During the season, a wonderful Farmer’s Market is a ten minute walk away on Sundays. Easy transportation is available to UBC’s Museum of Anthropology, Wreck Beach, downtown Vancouver, and Whistler as well as the airport and ferries. Long term rates are negotiable.

About the owner: The house is a completely self contained home, with the owners living in a suite on the ground floor, so they are available if guests need any help with appliances, etc., or if a light bulb needs changing. There is no connection between the home and the suite and guests have the full use of the back yard, patio and bar-b-que area, as well as the off-street parking spot at the front of the home.
