My family and I just returned from staying at the Casa Buena Vista over spring vacation. We met up with my OLD classmates and their families. Upon arrival we found the property to beautiful with the most amazing view. We had the privilege to watch a herd of 30 Elk graze on the fields below. A few of us were blessed to admire a Eagle that perches regularly on a tree, located on the corner of the property. We we’re thrilled to find that Pagosa Springs was just a few minute drive away and the Wolfe Creek Lodge was a leisurely and picturesque ride to the resort. The families enjoyed cooking in the kitchen, utilizing the large table to play games, and the Hot Tub was a hit, with the kids and adults alike. I can not wait to play another trip to Pagosa and stay here again.Recommended for: Sightseeing, tourists without a car, girls getaway, families with young children, adventure seekers, families with teenagers.

We have had the opportunity to stay at this home twice. Once in the winter of 2006 and once in the summer of 2011. The first time it was just 5 of us and the second time it was 9 of us--3 couples, 2 kids (a teenager and a toddler) and one great grandmother. We love that we all can fit very comfortably and the open floor plan is just perfect! The bedroom off of the garage is actually more of a mother-in-law suite which was great for my husband and I and our toddler. The gazebo adds a unique outdoor space that we enjoyed for hours. We look forward to our next stay and hope this review can help you see this gorgeous home from a prior renter's perspective. Summer or winter, this place is divine!Recommended for: Sightseeing, girls getaway, families with young children, adventure seekers, families with teenagers.

I believe that the description of this property should be modified. The 4th and 5th bedrooms are in a room off of the garage. One needs to walk down stairs from the house and go through the garage to their room. It looks like the room may have been set up as a suite at one time (or should have been). There is a small kitchen, a windowless room with two twin beds and a sleeping area with a queen bed. The room with the queen bed adjoins the kitchen and is completely open. The area is not suitable for adults. It would be adequate for a couple with children. There is no closet in the room with the queen bed. The water heater is stored in the room that looks like it should be a closet. The heater is outside the door. We were awakened every night by the heater banging when it turned on. It was very disappointing. The rest of the house is as described.Recommended for: Tourists without a car, girls getaway, families with young children.
Owner response: I don't mind changing the description. However, I have been renting the house for 8 years (just one year plus with VRBO, 8 years with a local management company) and had several hundred rentals without any similiar complaints. It has never been an issue in the past. This review is by a member of the renter's party, not the renter. The renter wrote me saying he would definitely consider my house again next year and not mentioning this review. George

Why the Owner Chose Pagosa Springs:
I always wanted a mountain home for skiing and other outdoor activities. When I came to Pagosa, I really liked the town. When I saw the house, I had to have it. Here is what some of my renters have said: - "It's a perfect getaway--whether you like floating the river, biking, or just sitting on the deck (or in the hot tub) enjoying the scenery and the weather, you can't find a more relaxing vacation. We loved every minute of it."; AND,- "This is a wonderful home to spend time with family. Kitchen was well equipped, furnishings were nice and comfortable as well. The hot tub and grill made outdoor living VERY enjoyable......and the view from this home is simply breathtaking!" AND - "This was our third time to stay here. It has always been comfortable …. We love the house and the grandkids call it "The Big House." We are ready to stay again."
The Unique Benefits at this House:
Skiing, rafting, kayaking, hunting, fishing, ballooning, hot springs, golf, horseback riding, cross-country skiing, hiking, camping, wildlife, etc, etc. There are several million acres of virgin government land surrounding Pagosa. There are many things to do in every season.
