Private Cabin @ Alaska's Only 100+ Year Old Chena Hot Springs Resort
- Minimum stay:2 nights
- Internet:Yes
- Pets allowed:Yes
- Wheel chair accessible:No
Please DO NOT contact the front desk at the resort to rent this cabin or ask anything about it. It is privately owned & operated. Unfortunately, they will not be able to assist you.
It is a DRY cabin which means it does NOT have a BATHROOM or running water like all of the cabins on the resort property. However, it is completely renovated and looks and feels like a deluxe cabin with nice amenities. All other resort owned cabins are occupied by employees and are not available for rent.
Bathrooms are only a ONE minute walk from the cabin in the Pool House (7AM-12AM) $15 daily fee to use the showers and rock lake, Activity Center 9AM-12AM), Full Service Restaurant/Lounge (7AM-10PM). 3 outhouses are within a 30 second walk available 24 hours a day for that truly Alaskan experience.
FYI - We only rent the cabin for a 2 NIGHT MINIMUM.
So whether you want to book and stay only one night, we block the cabin for a 2 night stay. There is no discount for only staying one night. However, you won't have to check out by 11AM the next morning. It makes for a leisurely visit and you can stay a little later the next morning since the cabin has been reserved for the 2nd night.
Enjoy a truly once in a lifetime rustic Alaskan experience by staying in our adorable cabin on the resort property!
The cabin is the ONLY one available for rent at the resort! A one minute walk to everything and located next to the Moose Lodge. Heated with an oil heated stove keeping it warm and toasty even in the coldest temperatures! Comfy King Size Log Bed.
CABIN DESCRIPTION
A 2 night stay is required for all bookings. The 30 year old cabin was completely renovated in 2009 and is cozy with a comfy king size log bed, 40 inch LCD TV & DVD player, 65 movie library, mini refrigerator & microwave, burl table & 2 chairs.
AMENITIES
2 Spa Robes & 2 over-sized pool towels for the hot springs, 2 folding chairs for the deck, 2 luggage racks, oil heated stove to keep it warm even in the coldest Alaskan temperatures!
FEATURES
It is beautifully decorated with gorgeous aurora photos taken by Alaskan photographer Todd Salat 'The Aurora Chaser' on one wall. Photos of Dale Chihuly's Tacoma Glass Bridge taken by the cabin owners adorn the other wall.
Enjoy the afternoon sun on the deck of the cabin & watch Moose walk right by! The Moose photo was taken by the owner last summer while sitting on the deck reading a book.
LOCATION AT RESORT
It's a short ONE minute walk to the resort's Restaurant (7AM-10PM), Pool House (7AM-12AM) or Activity Center (9AM-12AM). You can shower at the Pool House after your swim ($15 per person per day) and arrive at the cabin refreshed!
HOW TO GET TO CHENA HOT SPRINGS RESORT
You will need to rent a car at the Fairbanks, Alaska airport (Alamo, Avis, Budget, National) and it's about 1 hour 20 minute drive from the airport to the resort.
DRIVING DIRECTIONS:
Depart Fairbanks International Airport on Airport Way and travel about six miles staying on Airport Way. Turn left on the Steese Expressway intersection right before Ft. Wainwright Main Gate.
Take the Steese Expressway towards Fox about 3-4 miles and turn right onto the Chena Hot Springs Road exit about three miles from downtown Fairbanks.
Keep driving to the very end of Chena Hot Springs Road at mile 56.5 mile (completely paved and maintained year round) and you are there! Be on the look out for moose along the way on the side of the road!
So if you want a fabulous Alaskan getaway in a comfy cabin with amenities close by at a wonderful hot springs resort, this cabin is for you!

I stayed in this cabin at a perfect time of the year in Alaska. The one-room space is bright and tastefully appointed. It was warm, clean, and located right on the hot springs property. I will recommend this fantastic cabin to anyone who wants to stay in a private spot that is quiet, yet right in the middle of ALL the action at Chena Hot Springs Resort.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, people with disabilities, tourists without a car, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: Hello Rick, so glad you enjoyed your stay in our private little getaway which is close to everything the resort has to offer!

The cabin experience was so much better than we thought it would be. Even with the no water problem, it was not so bad. It is beautiful, the bed is so comfortable and the scenery the best. I think we had the best place in the whole resort. Thanks Denise, Kathy and John HardingOwner response: Thanks Kathy! So happy you and John had a great time in our little getaway!

My boyfriend and I were referred to this cabin by his mom, I'm soo glad we listened it was FANTASTIC!!! They had bottled water, snacks, and head lamps for comfort in and around the resort. The robes were really comfortable and warm, perfect for walking to the hot springs and back in our suits during winter. My boyfriends favorite part was the Aurora lighting in the cabin:) oh and he says the TV and movie selection was "right on" also. The bed was really comfortable and the linens smelled so fresh, the extra room we had without the dog was nice too. We will definitely be staying there on our future trips to Chena!!!!! If any of our friends are heading to the hot springs we will tell them to stay at the cabin.Owner response: So happy you enjoyed your stay at our little Hot Springs getaway! We are dog friendly so you are welcome to bring your doggie on your next visit!

This little cabin is well appointed and comfortable. As advertised, there is no plumbing but there are several facilities at the resort. Note that showering does require the payment of $10 per day to use the Hotsprings, but we planned on using the hotsprings daily anyway. One thing that is maybe not clear to us before booking is that it is right in the middle of other buildings and activities. This is great from an access point of view, but not if you are expecting a "secluded" cabin experience. Enjoyable stay, priced well and flexible and polite owner - will stay here again.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

Our trip was short but O so sweet! Me and my dear friend Eric stayed here last night. We have been in Alaska for one week and staying in this cabin for our last night. Right now there is a huge moose outside the cabin, so COOL! I am a tropic vacation kind of girl but I totally get the beauty of this state. The hot springs is the most wonderful thing I have ever experienced! We loved this cozy cabin and this will be a forever awesome memory for us!Did you find this review helpful? We had a wonderful time! Hiking, fishing, visiting puppies and the Chena Kennel, soaking in the hot springs and had awesome meals in the Restaurant. Our dogs became little socialites! Stayed in the 80's the whole weekend. Thank you so much for allowing us to stay at your adorable cabin. We will be back!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

About the owner: Denise and George Ferree have lived in Alaska since 1965 and 1972 respectively. We love the freedom Alaska provides and its natural beauty and wildlife. We enjoy sharing our private romantic getaway cabin at Chena Hot Springs Resort with all would be adventurers and dog lovers! We have three little poochies of our own who love going to the cabin and heading in the woods for long walks and exploring. The cabin's location on the resort property provides a unique opportunity to see moose walk right by the front door while still enjoying all the amenities you expect nearby, less than a minute's walk away! Come see for yourself and book your Alaskan hot springs getaway today!
Why the Owner Chose Fairbanks:
George and Denise purchased the cabin in 2008 from the original owners who had owned it for 30 years and started renovations.
After two years of long weekends and lots of elbow grease it was finally ready for visitors in December 2010!
Come see it for yourself and enjoy its comfort and natural beauty right outside your door!
Fairbanks offers lots of activities in summer and winter, so be sure to check out the Fairbanks Convention and Visitors Bureau website to learn more about what is available to see and do when you are headed this way.
Also check out Chena Hot Springs website for photos of the incredible activities offered year round to keep you entertained while enjoying your Alaskan getaway.
