Luquillo condo description
Location: Luquillo, Puerto Rico, is a quaint and tranquil seaside town, uniquely located 30 min. from San Juan International Airport, 10 minutes to El Yunque Rainforest and 10 minutes from Fajardo.
Accommodations: Condo, 2 bedrooms, 2 baths, sleeps 4-6, 27 ft oceanfront balcony, fully equipped kitchen.
Keywords: Caribbean, Puerto Rico, Oceanfront/beachfront, Small and tranquil seaside town. condo/vacation rental.
This beautiful, newly renovated apartment is located on the 12th floor of Playa Azul, building #1 which has the best panoramic view of the 3 buildings in the Playa Azul complex. Throughout the apartment, new floor-to-ceiling windows provide a cool ocean breeze and breathtaking views. Ceiling fans also keep the apartment well ventilated so that air-conditioning is not necessarily needed.
The apartment is beautifully furnished. Two air-conditioned bedrooms overlook the ocean, each with full private bath and walk-in closet. (One has a queen size bed and French doors opening onto the balcony; the other has 2 queen beds and a spectacular view of the ocean). A fully equipped kitchen includes a brand new dishwasher, microwave and washer/dryer. The living room has a 40-inch flat screen HD-TV with cable and wireless Internet connections.
Amenities on the premises include: Private parking lots, an Olympic-size swimming pool, tennis and basketball courts. There is 24-hour security at the front gate and lobby. Supermarket, pharmacy and bank with an ATM are available within walking distance or a short drive away.
Located in front of Building #1, Playa Azul Beach is lovely and not crowded, however, there are no life-guards on duty and the currents can be strong at times. Please be careful. Beach chairs and beach towels are available in the apartment for your use. If you prefer a beach with calmer water, amenities, parking and lifeguards on duty, the famous Balneario La Monserrate - Luquillo beach is only a 2-minute drive from Playa Azul. Three minutes away, are the renowned 'kioscos of Luqillo' where you can delight in good, authentic local cuisine; otherwise, you can drive a short distance to more upscale restaurants.
The apartment has a guest book with suggestions of where to eat and activities available in the area. You can hike or zip-line in the rain forest, book a snorkel trip, kayak on the bioluminescent bay, scuba dive in Fajardo, rent jet skis at Luquillo beach, go horseback riding, go to casinos at nearby resort hotels or take day-trips to Old San Juan, Ponce, Arecibo or the Camuy Caves.

Great condo, spectacular view!
Great condo, spectacular view!
First off everything was just as depicted in the photos. My family and I had a wonderful stay in this condo. All the amenities of home, close to shopping and easy access to other parts of the island via expressways. But of course the main reason to stay here is the beach, and ocean view from the great balcony. My wife and I loved going to sleep to the sound of the ocean with the french doors open. We had plenty of space for my daughter and son-inlaw and 2 grandkids and newborn. Also the pool is very nice to hang out at and theres a kids pool too. The parking is easy in and out. If you go the kiosk be sure to check out #31 vejigante There was great communication with the owner, I highly recommend this rental to families or couples to share.

This condo is special. It feels welcoming from the minute you walk in! The den is very airy, the furniture appears to be new, and the condo is spotless. The kitchen area is small but very functional. There were only two of us, but the condo could easily handle up to six. It was nice having two bathrooms, and the showers were very refreshing. All that being said, however, the main thing I loved about the condo was the large balcony (located on the 12th floor of Unit 1 of the Playa Azul) and the stunning view of the ocean below. Another very nice touch about the condo is the entire back wall of new windows and doors equipped with louvers that can be opened to let the cool breezes in. Another nice surprise is the box of goodies on the deck that contains beach chairs and other items for beach use. Security and parking at Playa Azul were also a great addition – security guard at the entrance of the complex and plenty of parking (for only $20 for your entire stay). If there was any negative, it would have been that the air conditioner in one of the bedrooms was loud, but this has been passed along to the owner and will be fixed. While in Luquillo, we visited El Yunque and got thoroughly soaked (but what do you expect in a rain forest?). It was lovely and quiet when we visited (early morning) and a must see. We also ate at some of the cafes in the 60 kiosks located off Highway 3. These little food stalls don’t look like much, but you can find some good, local food here and the atmosphere is priceless. We also drove over to Fajardo and took the ferry to Culebra. I had read so much about it being hard to get tickets, but we had no problem at all. ( I would advise getting there about an hour before the ferry leaves in order to buy your tickets). Culebra is a quirky little island but very much worth a trip, and Flamingo Beach does live up to its reputation. While in Puerto Rico, we stayed in Old San Juan the first night, but it would be a fairly short drive back there from this location. Having rented this unit through Vacation Rental By Owner (VRBO), I was a little hesitant that things would go as smoothly as they did, this condo being out of the U.S. However, the whole experience was very efficient from the timely connection with the owner (Sonia) to the check in/check out process. Both Ernest and Enoc answered all my emails and phone calls quickly. Overall, this was a very good experience, and I would highly recommend this condo.

Our family stayed here the first week of June. The condo is perfect for a family of four. The views are incredible. This location is perfect for exploring the norteast corner of the island. We did the rainforest, the eco park with the lighthouse, rode atv's thru the rainforest and ate at several great restaurants. We came here after spending two days in Old San Juan. It was also awesome. We traveled to Fajardo on several occasions as it is more modern than Luquillo and has more restaurants. Also the grocery store is much better here. Make sure to check Trip Advisors as all of the restaurant reviews were very accurate. Don't be afraid to eat at Pasta d Pueblo. It is very good. We were not fans of the kiosks but I own a restaurant and I'm always very picky. Make sure to take advantage of the public beach. Water is very smooth and has lifeguards. Serenty Sea Tours was the highlite of our trip. Great snorkling and very friendly crew. This condo felt very safe and our family agreed we want to go back. This is much better than the large hotels and a much better value. Wonderful vacation.

Nice beach view, older-person condo complex, sketchy neighborhood
Nice beach view, older-person condo complex, sketchy neighborhood
My wife, young son, and I stayed at this condo for two nights. The good: We were excited and attracted to this spot by the beach views. In fact, the beach views are as shown in the photos, and that part we really liked. The waves right outside the condo were amazing, and I had the best boogie boarding (using the one at the condo) of my life. Also, we were 10 minutes away from the rainforest, so we had a good chance to explore the rainforest and still get back to the apartment for our son's nap time. The bad: We thought we were going to a 'resort' condo. Not so much. It's seems to be a retirement community condo complex; we are in our mid-30's, and we didn't see anyone staying there that was near our age. Also, the entire complex is more run down than expected (e.g., few dead cars just sitting in parking lot and the facilities just feel tired). Further, our first impression was jaded by the fact that we thought we'd be checking into a 'resort office'; instead the rental office is a tiny storefront next to a convenience store - not the setting we were looking for. The condo itself was nice, but again, felt a bit tired. Our biggest complaint was the neighborhood. We are not used to seeing barb, razor wire, and window bars, but the vast majority of houses near this condo had these features. Additionally, there were a number of burnt out buildings in the area. Couple that with a 'Kinky Condom Shop' a few hundred yards away, and it meant that we didn't feel super comfortable in the neighborhood. Overall we enjoyed our time, and the owner was nice. However, we would not return to the condo or Luquillo.

I have stayed in many condo's but this one was my Fav! As soon as we walked in as a family, we were blown away by the views! No A/C needed the breezes filled the apt at all times. The whole front wall facing the beach is open air concept, very nicely decorated. Everyone was nice and we felt safe as well. My daughters, 26, 14, and 11 all enjoyed the beach - the waves are great for boogie boarding, wouldn't recommend little children unless parents are in the water with them. The public beach of Luquillo is much more calmer and is only a 2 min drive and has souvenier shops, local food and restaurants, and pina coladas on the beach. We went snorkeling in Fajardo, hiiked to the Mina Falls at El Yunque Rain Forest and our most favorite adventure we did on the last day was a ferry ride to the Island of Culebra for $4.24 round trip p/p. Flamenco Beach is rated the 2nd most beautiful beach in the World according to Discovery Channel and it truly was a Gem! Get your snorkeling gear at Wallmart because we seen more there in the reefs than we did on the Fun Cat! I would recommend coming here again, it is a good location to do and see alot (except no night life here, have to travel to San Juan).

Beautiful Sunrises and Ocean Breezes
Beautiful Sunrises and Ocean Breezes
My husband & I stay at this condo with our 2 adult kids (boy 24, girl 20) and it was the perfect amount of space for us. The kids had the room with the 2 queen beds, their own bathroom and a big closet. Very spacious room for them to share. And then we took the master bedroom which had it's own bathroom and big walk in closet. Plenty of drawer space in the furniture in both bedrooms as well. Between the bedrooms is the living area, balcony and kitchen, although you can walk out onto the balcony from the master bedroom. Very tastefully decorated, the kitchen had everything we needed to cook meals (we mostly just cooked breakfast at the condo). Having a washer & dryer in the kitchen was a really nice addition!! We never turned the air conditioners on when we were there since the ocean breezes made the unit very comfortable. And you can't beat the sunrises on the balcony - just beautiful!! Cable TV was great in the evenings when we wanted to just relax and hang out together. We had trouble with the remote or box (not sure which was the problem) for the cable mid-week, but Ernest came right away and got everything fixed for us. Ernest also gave us some great suggestions and tips on the activites we were planning to do while in PR. I really really liked how there was security right on site at Playa Azul. We felt very safe there and really all around Luquillo we felt safe. The owner of this Condo was so pleasant to work with. She always responded to any emails I sent her very quickly. Luquillo is a great location while staying on PR. All the activities that we wanted to do were so close by. Our highlights for the week were: El Yunque Rain Forest, hike to La Mina Falls and then swim there, Montserrate Beach (very nice), Old San Juan, La Parrilla restaurant in Kiosk row, boogie boarding on the beach right in front of Playa Azul. When we were there, the waves were pretty high, but they didn't seem so strong that they pulled you under, our kids loved it, but if I had small children I would have been a little nervous and wouldn't let them go out too far. It is also a great beach if you want to take a long walk. And we just loved hang'in out at the condo. Pool area was just OK, water was colder than the ocean and there was no hot tub. But it was clean and well maintained. We just like the beach better. If or when we go back to PR, we would for sure stay here again!! You should book it ~ enjoy!!

Playa Azul Condo
Playa Azul Condo
We had such a great time in Puerto Rico! The condo was perfect! The view from the balcony was spectacular! Most of my time spent at the condo was spent on the balcony-relaxing with coffee, reading a book, eating meals, playing games. It was beautiful. The rest of the condo was nice as well. The bedrooms were roomy and comfortable as was the living area. The kitchen was small, but fit our needs fine. The proximity to the beach was great! The location was perfect-central to the places we wanted to go...El Yunque, Fajardo for excursions, Ceiba for the airport, even Old San Juan wasn't too far. In addition, Enoc Rivera of Playa Azul Realty was wonderful! Very accomodating. It would have been nice to have more than one set of keys though. Since a key is needed to get in and out of the property to go to the beach, it was sometimes inconvenient if not everyone wanted to come and go at the same time. Minor inconvenience in the grand scheme of things though. I would definitely recommend this condo!

We recently came back from Puerto Rico from our family vacation and had the pleasure of staying at the Playa Azul Condos. We could have not asked for a better location: The condo is excelent, clean, with a well stocked kitchen, and the washer/dryer were a great addition. The condominium has 24/7 parking monitoring as well as security in the building. The beach just outside the condo is wonderful, one side has waves, but the right side of the cove is like a lagoon, perfect for those who want to learn how to snorkle. Overall, I will definetely stay at this location next time. Thank you for opening your home to us.

We highly recommend this condo! Every home comfort is provided. The beds are very, very comfy. The breeze and salt air make sleeping a joy. Having a dishwasher as well as a washer and dryer in the unit surely added to the well supplied kitchen. We made reservations for next year before leaving our vacation this year! The view of the beautiful beach is spectacular and we enjoyed many hours of relaxing and reading books provided as well. Come on down. All is provided for a splendid vacation....

Paradise in Puerto Rico
Paradise in Puerto Rico
The very best thing about this condo is the view. I don't think it's possible to find a better view than what you'll get from this balcony. This is a 10-star view. The second-best thing about this condo is the location. It is in a secure gated compound right across from a beautiful beach with soft sand, wild waves, and all the palm trees you need to feel like you're in a tropical paradise. You can walk to the grocery story, the pharmacy, several restaurants, and even McDonalds, if that is what you need in the morning. A short drive of less than 5m will take you to the kioskos at restaurant row, and a very calm swimming beach. Ten more minutes, and you'll be at El Yunque. Another half hour, and you're in San Juan. Head the other direction and you can be catching the ferry at Fajardo for a day trip to the islands. It's the perfect base for day trips all over the eastern side of the island. This is a five-star location. The condo itself is clean and well-furnished, with handy shutters to let the ocean breeze blow through the rooms and air conditioning in the bedrooms when the breeze fails. The internet worked well and we appreciated the beach chairs and other items available for our use! While not the very most luxurious VRBO rental we've ever had, there were a few oddities that keep this from being a five-star location. For example, there was no light in the living room -- the ceiling light was out, and there were no table or floor lamps. Also, I've never had a VRBO rental before where you had to buy your own toilet paper and trash bags. Most VRBO rentals we've had were very well-stocked with cleaning supplies, basic food items (salt, spices, tea, coffee, etc.), and more kitchen gadgets than you could shake a stick at. We may be a bit biased since my sisters and I all love to cook, but overall we'd have to give the kitchen a 2.5 out of 5 and the condo itself a 4 out of 5. Lest that last statement sound too discouraging, let me say that overall we had a wonderful time and would definitely stay there again, with or without small children!
