Homey, yet elegant, this spacious five-bedroom four-bath house is ideal for large families or reunions of any kind. Fully equipped inside with a huge deck outside the house has wireless Internet and a pool with waterslide. Casa La Palapa is anything but the usual vacation rental. Located on the hillside that surveys the Tamarindo Bay, the view from Casa La Palapa is unbeatable. The jumble of roof tops and palm fronds in the foreground gives way to the vast expanse of ocean stretching into the distance as far as the eye can see. Homey, yet elegant, this spacious five-bedroom four-bath house is made unique by the immense open-air palapa that is the entire second floor. A grassy yard surrounds the main house on one side and an ample sun deck with a large pool lies on the other, just outside the entrance to the one bedroom apartment above the street-level garage. Inside the majestic wooden doors of the front entrance, the living area of Casa La Palapa is walled by sliding glass doors that paint a perpetual panorama in greens and blues. A first floor master bedroom lies to the right, looking out over the gardens and pool. On the back side of the house are two bedrooms, one with a double bunk and a single bed, the other with two single beds. A full bath is located between them and serves also as a powder room for guests. The kitchen of Casa La Palapa is open to the living area and enjoys the same feeling of sunny brightness as the rest of the house. The enormous refrigerator, gas stove and oven, and the dishwasher are all in stainless steel, creating a unique contrast to the bamboo-detail cupboards and granite counter tops. Another small bedroom, in the style of a maid’s quarters, with a private bath is located behind the kitchen. From the kitchen stairs lead up to the level that gives Casa La Palapa its name. A private master suite in wood and palm are closed off from an open-air living space that covers the entirety of the lower level of the house. A four-poster queen sized bed complete with drapery, a large L shaped couch, a big screen TV, a dining table, chairs, a grill, hammocks, rocking chairs, a foosball table, and gym equipment make the palapa a place that’s almost unnecessary to leave. A beautiful wooden bar and stools are set up as front-row seats for the show of ocean sunsets. A door in the back wall of the palapa opens onto a one-of-a-kind waterslide that gives one and a half turns on its way down to the pool. The master suite on the north side of the palapa has an entrance to the stairway and a separate entrance by the Jacuzzi into the common space. The simplicity of the elegant furnishings and the beauty of the view afforded by the sliding glass doors on the front side of the room, give the master suite the feeling of a fairytale bedroom. Casa La Palapa is ideal for large families or reunions of any kind. The balance of private and common spaces inside this fenced property with such an extraordinary view creates a sense of comfort rarely found away from home.
