We recently spent a weekend at this farmhouse and thoroughly enjoyed it. The property was great- it was a charming house, very well maintained, and extremely comfortable. The owners were very friendly. Most important, coming from the City of St. Louis, I can not emphasize enough how enjoyable it was to spend a weekend on an operational farm. We took advantage of opportunities to milk a cow, feed goats, and enjoy farm-fresh eggs every morning. While our family is not accustomed to life in the country, we all loved the experience and certainly plan to visit again. I would highly recommend this to anyone looking to get away from it all or to enjoy farm life for a weekend. We also visited Peoria IL for an afternoon which was easily accessed from the farm.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

Our worship team had an overnight stay at this ideal location. We cooked meals together, had fun watching a movie and spent great time worshiping around the grand piano. It couldn't have been more perfect. This home would be great for any gathering. The owner was very helpful during the process of planning this trip. Overall a wonderful experience.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway.

Our family (4 adults, 4 children) stayed in this unique house in February, 2013. This large house stayed warm and cozy inside, even though it was bone-chilling cold and snowing outside! It was in a rural area and had a nice size yard. Our grandchildren loved the farm animals outside and the large staircase inside. Every time I came down the stairs I thought of the scene in the movie, "It’s a Wonderful Life". The kitchen was fully-equipped and met the needs of our family. It had 2 large tables, so one was used for dining, and the other was used for games, etc. All 4 bedrooms were on the top floor, so the parents were just down the hall if the kids needed them during the night. (This floor plan was convenient also because I was able to enjoy my early-morning coffee downstairs without disturbing the sleeping ones upstairs.) Our family visited The Lincoln Home and The Lincoln Museum in Springfield, IL, which is less than 2 hours away. It was a remarkable historic site! We made some sweet, snow-white memories at this house, and doing business with Kris, the owner, was a pleasure. And...while you are there, be sure to order a pizza from Casey’s General Store just a few miles away. (It was so good!)Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

My family and I come down every year for the Morton Pumpkin Festival, and most of the time we stay in a hotel. But with prices constantly going up, we decided to look elsewhere this year for lodging and found this house for a great deal. The house was as advertised and a great retreat from city life, yet close enough to Peoria and Morton to head into town whenever we wanted! My kids enjoyed the animals (especially chasing the chickens!), and my wife and I enjoyed the peace and quiet of country life! The beds were comfortable, and the newly remodeled bathroom upstairs was delightful! The whole experience was fantastic and we look forward to staying here again next year! I would highly recommend if you are looking for an alternative to a hotel!!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, families with young children, romantic getaway.

The Peaceful Farm could not have been more perfect for our group. The home is lovely, comfortable and charming. We loved being next to the working farm and being able to purchase the fresh produce and keep tabs on the goats, cows and pig. Kate and her family were wonderful hosts - we especially enjoyed the tour of the farm provided by James. The farm house accommodated our family so beautifully - everyone had a comfortable place to sleep, and the younger generation gave the family room high approval ratings for a place for them to retreat to and play games into the wee hours of the morning. The front porch was a favorite spot for gathering in the morning with coffee and after dark to watch the fireflies. We enjoyed our walks down the country road in front of the house. Thank you Kris for opening up this beautiful home to our families who traveled from New York City, Minnesota and DC to be close to our ancestral home in Trivoli.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

What a terrific spot for our family gathering. We had plenty of room for our extended family to spread out when needed and large spaces to gather for meals. This is a very nice setting-close to Peoria and other smaller towns. We loved the country setting with farm animals to entertain the little ones, the deck and spacious front porch where we could congregate. Helpful owner and friendly local property manager. The kitchen met our needs for preparing meals and the bedrooms were spacious, and homey. We are sure to meet family here again as it is a pleasant drive from Chicago and St. Louis.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway.

My entire family lives in the city of Chicago. In the city. Every year I look for a family event that brings us all together and this year I wanted to give them all the experience of a farm. I have to be honest, the idea met with mixed reviews and perhaps the more challenging part was actually finding a farm. Not easy but I stumbled on this one. Well...........the farm hit the ball out of the park. My wife and I, my kids, and my grandchildren absolutely loved it. Milking a cow, a goat, eating fresh eggs (oh, thats where they come from). Turkey, pigs. Kate was a pleasant and welcoming host. Her son James only added to the wonderful experience. A real farm kid and mom. They actually do wear bib overalls! Nice people. Really nice people. Well, by the middle of the day that we arrived I was already being peppered by requested to do it again. The sprawling open meadow and the serenity of freshly planted three inch high somethings completed the experience. The house is immaculate and very well appointed. If you want a TV and DVD player its all there but if thats your interest your missing the best of what this farm has to offer. Catch up on nature and your roots and give Kris a call. My family and I stayed here for 2 weeks in February and could not have had a better time. The farmhouse was charming and exceeded expectations in the way of accommodations and comfort. We have four children ranging from 10 to 2 and the fact that they could experience the sights, sounds, and interactions of a working farm while getting to travel with me as I worked was such a blessing. And the fact that we weren't all on top of one another in a character-starved hotel room made it a trip that my family will remember always. The house is great - washer and dryer on site, fully stocked kitchen (utensils and appliances), comfortable furniture, an absolutely fantastic bathroom (heated floors, heated towel bar, great shower) that put hotels to shame. The area is quiet - true farmland. Almost no light pollution means that you'll see more stars than you might have in a while if you live anywhere near city lights. I loved the fact that I could, in just a short drive, be out from the city and truly in a restful and relaxing place. The ability to enjoy farm fresh eggs (can't get much fresher) made each morning that much better. I recommend "the farm" (as my kids called it) to anyone who wants to try something different from the usual "hotel" vacation. It truly has so much to offer and you will come away feeling refreshed and relaxed. All of our questions were answered before we arrived, and then there was both the patience and willingness to answer all of our farm questions once we were on site. We are already trying to figure out when we can return.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

9 women ages 23 to 83 just spent a very fun, relaxing weekend at this charming farmhouse. We gather ever fall for a women only weekend (we are all family) and this house was a great choice. It was very accommodating for our group, clean and well stocked with dishes, linens, etc. We only had one small problem with water presssure upon arrival and the owners were very attentive and fixed it up in a jiffy. Since most of us grew up in Chicago, "being on the farm" was a real treat. One of the highlights of our weekend was feeding the animals and taking turns at milking the cow and goat. Everyone asked millions of questions and Kate graciously answered all of them. We would definitely return to this property and are even thinking of it as a future gathering spot with our husbands in tow. Thank you to Kris, Kate, James and John for helping to make our weekend a success!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

What a lovely home. Nice big rooms with lots of windows. I loved "listening" to the quiet. Peaceful to watch the animals-glad they were so close by. Farmer, the gentle giant dog became my protector. Stayed on my side of the road every night. I fell in love with that dog. Will be going back again.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway, pet owners.

Our stay at this lovely house was wonderful. We had the time of our lives! First of all, the farmhouse is absolutely precious All the beds in house are, in fact, very comfy. The kitchen was fully stocked with dishes, pots and pans; Kates garden is amazing! We picked a couple squash and sautéed them in olive oil, It was lovely and peaceful out there it has far exceeded our expectations the rental price is very reasonable for the comfort they are offering I simply cannot recommend Peoria farm house enough. I cannot wait to come back. RKRecommended for: People with disabilities, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, pet owners, sightseeing.

I was fortunate enough to rent this house from 5/15-5/23 2011. Very nice home and everything we needed for a weeks vacation was available. Beds very comfortable and lots of sleeping room! The kitchen and the front porch were our favorite sitting areas. The farm fresh eggs from Kate were yummy! Loved the rocking chairs on the front porch. The piano was perfect as my Aunt E and Cousin Rick kept us entertained. My Mother and I had plenty of bake ware for our favorite sweets. I am originally from Peoria but had moved away many years ago. So going home to visit and staying in a hotel limited me to the number of family member's that I could visit. But not this time! This house brought family together that hadn't been able to get together, some of us over 30 years. It allowed us to have a "Girls Night" Slumber Party with Cousin's and Aunt's, as my Mother's family is many! We caught up on all the year's that we had missed. We loved and laughed and stayed up all night without any worries. Our Love and Laughter will echo in this amazing house and in our heart's forever. There are no words to express what a mark in our heart's that this home has left. My family and I cannot thank you enough! Sincerely, Wendy San Antonio, Tx.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car, pet owners, romantic getaway.

Seven of my college friends, all age 65+ spent a lovely weekend at this farmhouse. We loved every minute we sat around the kitchen table sharing memories and news. This was the perfect spot for us to all get together, relax, play games, and have a birthday party! The house was so cozy but with plenty of space... we loved how the kitchen, living room, and piano room were all connected, creating areas for different activities while still still allowing us to all be together. The kids loved petting the cows, Farmer, and the goats, and seeing the turkeys and chickens strutting around. Such a great getaway; we hope to visit again next year!Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway.

We had such an amazing weekend that we almost regret writing a good review in fears that this house will be booked the next time we want to stay! We felt right at home from the moment we walked through the door minus any of the stresses and noise that we have at our normal home. This house had everything we are looking for in a dream home...A modern & spacious kitchen, TONS of seating, a great location, wonderful animals, and most of all - peace and quiet. Kate, the property manager/sister was very friendly and helpful. Not only did she give us more information on the area and farm life, but she also taught us how to milk a cow! If needed, Kate is right across the street or only a phone call away...If looking for privacy, she takes care of the farm and animals like a ghost that you never even see! This house is close enough to Peoria that everything you could ever need is near by. The drive is about 25-30 minutes from the house but only feels like 5-10 since it is so scenic. In town there is a 24-hour Wal-Mart, a Target, Kohl's, two malls and just about anything else you would expect to find in a major town. Everything is so close, yet it feels like it is a world away when relaxing on the farm. If looking for an amazing weekend getaway, or perhaps even longer, we highly recommend this house! We live right outside Chicago and were trying to find a place to spend our anniversary/Valentine's day but had procrastinated until the February 10th. With only a few emails back and forth with Kris we were able to book our BEST weekend ever and check-in the very next day! The family that owns this house and the property across the street are all amazing people and we look forward to visiting again in the VERY near future. If nothing else, as animal lovers, we recommend visiting this house just to meet all the great cows, goats, and ESPECIALLY Farmer AKA "that Polar Bear dog" as one previous guest called him in the guest book. Thank you very much for allowing us the opportunity to have such a magical weekend at your beautiful home. See you soon!Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

Thank you so much for sharing your lovely farm retreat. It was the perfect setting for our family Christmas Holiday-- just what we were looking for.. We had a wonderful Christmas in your house. It was everything you described and so much more. The house suited the occasion beautifully, from intimate conversations by the Christmas tree, to a feast for 23 people! The upstairs bath felt like a luxury spa hotel! And what a beautiful grand piano in the living room!--- Yet right outside was a working farm. What a fantastic way to celebrate Thanksgiving with our extended family! This is an extremely charming farmhouse, beautifully renovated - even better than the pictures - and so inviting and relaxing! It was a treat to get out on the farm and interact with the cows, goats, chickens and turkeys. Our host, Kate was so gracious to spend some time visiting with us. We highly recommend ordering her egg strata breakfast! We also look forward to cooking up the heirloom chicken and eggs we brought home with us! We did experience one problem during our stay - some electrical outages to parts of the home, however our hosts quickly looked into the issue, had an electrician out right away (Thanksgiving night) and final repairs are underway. Clearly The Potters take their business seriously. Not only did they look into the problem quickly, but they were also concerned about our comfort and needs in the process. We felt well taken care of. We will definitely be returning!Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, romantic getaway.

Our group had a very enjoyable weekend at the home-- which had the feel of visiting a friend's home. It was very clean, the beds were great, and the house was well-supplied. The older (and well-maintained) farm house-- on the farmland with nearby animals-- contributed to uniqeness, positive atmosphere, and relaxation. Kris and her family were great to work with-- including on little details. Our experience was all positives and not a single complaint.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

All in all everyone enjoyed it and feel in love with the house and the setting. Members of our party even got hands on farm time which they really enjoyed. The property was everything we expected and this listing was spot on in regards to location. All photos are accurate but does not do this property justice. It is so amazing, you have to see it up close and personal. We could not have chosen a better property owner to work with Kris and Kate were amazing. We would definitely recommend this property to anyone who is looking for a peaceful, relaxing get back in touch with life get away. During your stay you have to experience Kate's farm.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, sightseeing.
