Bienvenidos! Welcome to beautiful Isla Mujeres and welcome to our home, Paraiso Sur (Paradise South). Whether you want to just kick back and enjoy the private heart shaped pool, go zipping over the water at Garrafon Natural Reef Park, or just relax with a cocktail in the rooftop jacuzzi to watch one of the most beautiful sunsets, you can do it here.
Paraiso Sur is located in Isla Mujeres, MX, just a short 20 minute boat ride from Cancun, and a 5 minute drive from the port. Isla Mujeres is a beautiful, very safe, low-key island, with more of the 'old Mexico' feel. No high rises, no chain restaurants, just friendly, laid back people, gorgeous beaches,and a rich island history. Trip Advisor lists Isla Mujeres as number 15 on their '2011 Travelers Choice' awards for best beaches!
Paraiso Sur is in the Garrafon area, toward the south end of the island, but about 5 minutes from El Centro by taxi or golfcart. We have 3 bedrooms, each with it's own private bathroom,a/c and ceiling fans. The master bedroom has a kingsize and comfortable bed. The colorful upstairs guest room has twin beds, which can be pushed together to make a king. Downstairs is a queen size pillow top bed. The house is air conditioned with a split system, so you only have to cool the rooms you are using. TV's with dvd players in all bedrooms & living room. Washer and dryer on premises. The palapa adjacent to the pool is finished, complete with outdoor shower, toilet and sink. Great for getting out of the sun and enjoying the breeze and sunset. There's also a private sunning area behind the palapa.
There is a full kitchen, in case you don't want to eat out every night in one of Isla's delicious restaurants. Getting around is no problem, as the red taxis come by often, and the fare to town is only about 75 pesos. If you get tired of lounging by the pool, just steps away is Garrafon de Castilla, where for about 5.00 US you can swim or snorkel the coral reef that runs all the way to the Garrafon Natural Reef Park, or get a beach chair & a snack. It's about a 2 minute walk to Garaffon Natural Reef Park with it's exhilarating zip line, snorkeling the reef, and a very nice beach. Or rent a golf cart in town for exploring the island at your leisure. The Dolphin Discovery is on Sac Bajo, along with the turtle farm and Rolandis. Punta Sur is just a short 5 minutes walk from the house. At Punta Sur you can have a meal overlooking the Caribbean Sea, check out the sculpture garden, or climb the lighthouse stairs for awesome views of the island, and learn about the history of the island. Take a ride to Hidalgo Street for restaurants, shopping and nightlife. Don't forget to see the Conch shell house!

Cancellation and refund policy: Deposit of 50% is due in 7 to 10 days of making reservation. Reservation not confirmed until deposit is received. Full payment is due 30 days prior to arrival. Reservations made with less than 30 days to arrival are to be paid in full within 7 days of reserving house. A full refund of deposit will be given if intent to cancel is received at least 60 days prior to arrival; one half the deposit will be refunded between 30-60 days prior, and if less than 30 days, no refund will be given,however, if full payment has been made, and a cancellation is requested at 30 days or less, 50% of the total will be refunded. Trip insurance is available online, to safeguard against loss of any kind.

From the excellent care provided by Gaspar (the local custodian of the house), to the spacious designed-for-entertaining outdoors, our stay was a success. The proximate Pueblitos (two for one Margueritas - the biggest we've seen...), Garrafon National Park, Acantilado restaurant at Punta Sur (great lobster deal!), and rented golf cart are essentials for your visit. The three bedrooms (one basement level dbl, one 2.nd floor dbl singles, and another 2.nd floor dbl) all have a/c, however the breeze through the sliding doors was sufficient for cool evenings. Book early! While the kitchen - fully stocked (but no oven, so pizzas are out) - was small, it served our purposes well. All modcons you'd have in your own kitchen are there - even the blender for Margueritas. The rooftop soaker jacuzzi is refreshingly cool, while the en-suite palapa is large enough to seat ten guests or more. Be sure to go to the nearby Chedraui (convenience store) for all your food - the smaller grocery store en-route provides charcoal (carbon de barbacua). Be sure to take the charter craft to Isla Contoy - delightful island with protected nesting for Frigatte birds. We used Captain Tony's charter - v. professional and reasonable ($60 all-in beers, fresh fish meal, boat ride). Whne your stay at Paraiso Sur is done, the hired help arrives to clean the entire place - nice! No need to do that prior to leaving, eh? We'd go again in a heartbeat!Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, girls getaway, tourists without a car.

We rented Paraiso Sur as an alternative to a hotel and couldn’t have been more please with the accommodations. We had three couples and the space was perfect for our group. The property has great outdoor spaces and the roof deck & poolside decks had fantastic views of the water. The house sits up slightly on a hill for a unbelievable 270 degree view of the ocean from the roof deck. There is a beach club practically next door and it has great guacamole and cold beers. Not to mention there are so many tropical fish in the ocean and the water is so clear that you don’t even need to rent snorkel gear to get your fill of the fishes. We rented a golf cart for the whole time we were there and it was perfect for traveling around the island and visiting Mango Café and attending a good friend’s wedding at the beach on the other-side of the island. It was the first time for our group on the Island and we all had a great time and will definitely be considering a return trip to Paraiso Sur.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, romantic getaway, girls getaway, tourists without a car, adventure seekers.

Hi Kathy, I just wanted to let you know what a wonderful time we had at Paraiso Sur. The house was perfect for us in both its location and size. There was plenty of room for everybody and space to be alone as well. We didn't do as much as other families might have but were content to sight see in the golf carts, visit the beaches and a restaurant or two.Mostly we sat around the pool, played scrabble and visited to our heart's content.All the best, JudyDid you find this review helpful? We loved this house from the moment we arrived. The bedrooms are actually nicer than they appear in the photos, as is the pool and surrounding yard. The place was perfect for our family of six plus our toddler grandbaby, though we were careful to keep an eye on her while upstairs on the balcony and around the pool. The beds were very comfortable and we loved all the balconies plus the rooftop lounging area with the jacuzzi. The house is very clean, and easy to care for. We liked the location because it felt quieter than the Playa Norte, and it was easy to get around by taxi or golf cart. There are some good restaurants nearby, and sidewalks for walking through the neighborhood. This is the perfect place for three couples or a family of six.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, pet owners, age 55+, girls getaway, tourists without a car, adventure seekers, people with disabilities.

Our family had a terrific time this December in Isla Mujeres. Paraiso Sur was a great house for us; beautiful, comfortable, with plenty of space and privacy. We loved that each bedroom had its own bathroom too. There is tons of outdoor seating with a pool and a palapa. The location was lovely, and it was so fun and easy to get around the island on our golf cart. Beautiful weather and beaches, friendly folks, delicious food (don't miss eating at La Bruja, which is a ride from the house). We can't wait to come back!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway, adventure seekers.

"Paraiso Sur" is perfect for fun & relaxing with great location & incredible views of sunrise & sunsets from the rooftop patio & plunge pool. The property is beautifully decorated with all the amenities for an enjoyable escape you never want to leave! We will go back every chance we get! The island "Isla Mujeres" is a hidden jewel off Cancun with gorgeous beaches & awesome dining options everywhere you go. Every day was perfect! The heart shaped pool is my personal favorite area. The weather was incredible every day for our 9 day stay! The property is very clean & maintained in new condition. The owners are very knowledgeable about the island from native plants to places of interest. True & honest awesome owners to rent from. We would refer anyone & everyone to rent this beautiful property!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car, adventure seekers.

Kathy, Everything was perfect!! The house is beautiful and I love the location. Everything was clean and we had everything we needed. I'm afraid we raided the first aid kit and used a few meds we forgot to bring. Also, I'm not sure how many beach towels there were. Please let me know if I need to replace anything. The teenagers all enjoyed the palapa late into the night every night. We spent a day next door at Garafon de Castilla, a day at Playa Mexico, a day at North Beach, a day out snorkeling with Lorenzo (saw the cross and the statues) and a day w the dolphins. I recently stayed at Paraiso Sur and couldn't say enough good things about it. The home is very large, with enough outdoor space to accomodate any dinner, gathering or other activity you could wish for! The property manager, Gaspar, is great! He is helpful and patient and even came to our rescue quickly when a golf cart company couldn't understand our less-than-perfect Spanish! This location is perfect as it is two doors down from garrafon de castillo, where for five dollars, you can snorkel all day and lay on the beach! Its also only a short walk to Punta Sur, which is georgeous for sunrise! The house is clean, safe, and they truly thought of everything! The air conditioners cool a room down immediately when you turn them on, and having a washer and dryer was invaluable! I don't see any reason we wouldnt stay there again and again! Thank you Kathy and Dewayne for sharing this beautiful home with us!!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, romantic getaway, girls getaway, tourists without a car, adventure seekers.

Renting this house was no doubt one of the reasons our vacation was so amazing! It is quietly located off the main downtown area which provides a relaxing atmosphere. It is only a golf cart ride away from all of the shopping and downtown excitement! The house provides a 360 view of the ocean. It's clean, well stocked with anything you may need for a beach vacation. Working with the owner of the house was smooth and easy. The local islander that takes care of the home is also awesome. He knows where everything is and can even help you order items such as food or gold carts. His presence gives an extra added sense of security, although the island is not unsafe at all. WHEN we go back, we will be coming here again!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car.

If you are looking for an awesome, relaxing get away with friendly/caring owners look no farther. This was a spectacular home to stay in with spectacular surroundings. Not only was it beautifully decorated but it had everything we could ever imagine needing. The pool/patio area was enjoyable and the palapa a big plus for hanging out in. Would I recommend this vacation rental-Absolutely!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, romantic getaway, girls getaway, tourists without a car, adventure seekers.

About the owner: DeWayne and Kathy Musick, two 50 something beach and sun lovers from Pensacola Florida. We've been coming here for the last 5 years or so, and finally decided what we really wanted was our own place in Isla Mujeres. It's hard leaving our 2 sons and 4 (!) dogs at home, but we do try to make it down every couple of months. In the next couple of years, we hope to be living here in Isla for part of the year.
Why the Owner Chose Isla Mujeres:
We chose Isla Mujeres because of it's location,being one of the safest destinations in Mexico, the friendly people, the 'laid back, small town' feel, just the whole package for a relaxing vacation. Beautiful beaches, lots of locally owned restaurants & bars. We chose our home for it's location on one of the highest points on the island,it's quietness,privacy, and the beautiful sunrises and sunsets we get to see every day! Freshest seafood anywhere. Anything and everything you could possibly want to eat, expertly cooked, wonderful presentations, super friendly service. Miramar,Jax, Bally Hoo, Rolandis, Bistro Francais, Seso Loco's, Olivias, La Cazuela, Los Amigos, Mango Cafe, Mama Rosa,Soncochos, and of course the Soggy Peso and their cheeseburger in paradise and Sunday afternoon ribs! Look out for the blue!! Too many more great places to list. I also hear the fishing is something else ;-)

People watching ( here comes the golf cart parade!), eating out, meeting the locals. 2 minute walk to Garrafon Natural Reef Park & the zipline ,5 minute walk to Punta Sur. Snorkeling available at Garrafon de Castillo, 1 block behind house. It's calm, quiet, beautiful, but 5 minutes away to the hustle and bustle of Hidalgo and the main drag, Av. Rueda Medina. We enjoy trying out our Spanish, eating out, sunning, reading, walking, and swimming.
