Little Sebago 7 Bdrm Lakehouse - Great for Winter Fun!

THE LAKES ARE FUN IN THE WINTER! Enjoy ice skating, ice fishing, and miles of Maine snowmobile trails just outside our door. Our house is 40 minutes from Shawnee Peak Ski Area and One Hour from Sunday River Resort and Mount Abram's ski area. The house serves as an ideal base of operations for exploring the Lakes Region in all seasons. The firepit near the beach is accessible year round and there is a great sledding hill on the property.
You can really relax at our lakeside house while enjoying all the comforts of home (linens, towels, w/d, beach chairs and toys provided) on a .86 acre waterfront lot with 150 feet of sandy beach and large grass yard overlooking the lake. Our house is built like a duplex, with separate exterior entrances and interior adjoining doors on the first and second floors. The adjoining doors can be locked or kept open depending upon guests' preference. There are two fully equipped kitchens and common areas, making this lakehouse ideal for a multiple family vacation. There is also a 3 bedroom guest house on the property which can be rented in addition to the main house (sleeps 6 in beds). Contact owner for photos and a description of the guest house.
For Summer Fun: We have a dock for boats, raft with slide for swimming fun, paddleboat, rowboat, fire pit, hammock, and outdoor games available (bocce, badminton,etc.). We are part of the Little Sebago Lodges Association which maintains the road near our lakehouse and there is a tennis court and boat launch for members & guests located 1/3 mile away from our house.
Beautiful Fall Foliage: The fall is the quietest season in our cove. The days are still warm enough to get out on the water and explore, but all the vacation visitors have gone home. From our house, enjoy the foliage from the sunroom or beach, looking out at two small uninhabited islands.
Little Sebago Lake is 5 miles long and consists of three large basins, locally referred to as Upper, Middle, and Lower lakes. Our lakehouse is located in a cove at the top of Middle Lake and is protected by a small wooded island, located 300 yards from our shore. We call it Blueberry Island for obvious reasons and there is also a sand bar that extends out from the island. Kids love to venture out to the island sand bar so they can stand in the 'middle' of the lake and then explore the island trails while feasting on blueberries.
Our cove, known as Pirate's Cove, is protected from winds and boat traffic as most boaters prefer to spend time on the largest basin, Middle Lake. Our sheltered cove makes for wonderful waterskiing conditions. There is lots to explore on Little Sebago Lake. Highlights are: Tarzan Swing, Jumping Rock (20 foot jump into the water), numerous islands and coves, two sand bars.

We rented the lake house the week of Christmas 2012 to spend time with our extended family coming from several different states and it was perfect! The house is huge and incredibly well equipped. The kitchen had every possible utensil, serving dish and pan for preparing a great Christmas dinner as well as large meals all week long. The bedrooms accommodated each family with comfortable beds for all and linens were provided as well. Two and a half baths made mornings smooth when we were going somewhere. The house was extremely clean and well set up. Wireless internet was perfect for teens setting up their new electronics and a room full of toys kept the youngest of our crew completely entertained. We spent a day snowbound by a large snowstorm but the house is so large that there was plenty of space for all to spread out and play games, read, and visit. With a fresh snowfall, many enjoyed snowshoeing and exploring the next day. The lake wasn't completely frozen but would have been prefect for cross country skiing otherwise. The views are gorgeous with beautiful lakeside sunrises seen right from the house. The girls enjoyed great shopping close by at the Maine Mall in Portland as well as at many local specialty shops. The outdoor fire pit was a bonus for those that wanted to brave the cold and hang outside at night by the lake and enjoy the winter nights. The indoor fireplace was great too. There were several seating areas so people could gather in different spots doing different activities. The listing is very accurate but the photos here on VRBO don't really do it justice. I would recommend trying to post additional photos as it's a great home - you should show it off! The owners were available and responsive to the one small request we had. I would absolutely highly recommend this home and would return here again. Thank you for sharing your lovely lake house!Recommended for: Girls getaway, adventure seekers, sightseeing, families with teenagers, families with young children, age 55+.

We can't say enough about the wonderful week we spent at this location. The owners obviously take great pride in their rentals. The property was immaculate, the accommodations comfortable and the location on the lake was perfect for boating, swimming, waterskiing etc..as well as being quite convenient to local shopping. A perfect spot for our family reunion. (The firepit added an additional gathering spot in the evening.) We were able to rent the cabin in front ,as well, which allowed for a smaller retreat for four of us. Very quaint, clean and fully furnished. We look forward to many more stays at this location not only in the summer but this fall also! We highly recommend it.Recommended for: Girls getaway, sightseeing, families with teenagers, families with young children, age 55+.
Owner response: Thanks so much, Nancy! I appreciate your quick response!!!,

We rang in the new year at this lakehouse and it far exceeded expectations. The great room with fireplace was warm, cozy and spacious, and the kitchen had no problem accommodating our party of 12. There were two large tables in the kitchen and we actually had no problem fitting everyone at one of the tables so we were never split up for eating or playing cards. Bedrooms were all good size and with the 2.5 bathrooms we never felt crowded. The fire pit was a ton of fun at night- seems like an amazing place for a summer stay as well as the grounds were huge. Skiing at Sunday River was only an hour away and there were great local places to eat - I would highly recommend this house!Recommended for: Girls getaway, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, age 55+.

About the owner: Our young family enjoys the lakehouse on a year round basis. We use it as a base of operations for winter activities (3 ski resorts within one hour), hiking in the fall, and of course, summer fun. We just spent our third summer here and its been my husband's and my best summers since childhood!
Why the Owner Chose Little Sebago Lake:
Throughout my childhood, I spent vacations and weekends at my grandparents' lakehouse. Many of my happiest childhood memories are from the lake. My husband and I really wanted to give our children the same opportunity and had been searching for a lakefront property since we were in college. Although our 7 bedroom lakehouse and 3 bedroom guesthouse is much larger than we ever anticipated buying, we've managed to fill it with visits from family and friends on a regular basis. It is a great location for a family reunion or a vacation with multiple families. The land and beach frontage were the primary reasons for us choosing this property. It is a double lot with lots of usable lake frontage, plenty of sun, and it also has a large grass lawn. All great for kids and entertaining.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
Our lakehouse is on the west side of Little Sebago. Since we have a large open lot, we enjoy the sunshine all day. The yard is very large, providing ample space between the neighbor's beach and ours. The property is part of the Little Sebago Lodges Association. The Association is in a cove surrounded by very nice, well kept homes. All of the abutting landowners take good care of their property and respect their neighbors.
