My family (4 adults in our early thirties and 2 babies (18-months and 7-months-old)) spent 4 nights over the New Year holiday at this house. We were looking for a comfortable, relaxing home to spend our vacation and found all of the other reviews of this home to be spot-on. I wanted to add some additional information on the house to help my fellow, potential renters. The house is indeed one story, but there are several steps on the walkway leading to front door and there are a few very steep steps inside the house leading down to the outdoor kitchen. The house has 3 bedrooms (2 queen beds and one full-sized futon), 3 bathrooms (two showers, one tub) and a very open floor plan. The house is very well appointed and is decorated with an Asian-inspired, tranquil nature theme complete with several Buddhas and numerous house plants. The many large windows and French doors produce an abundance of natural light during the day and let in the moonlight at night. There is very little bright centralized lighting and mainly lamps and decorative lights for mood lighting at night. We spent most of our vacation in the home, enjoying each other’s company, cooking and playing with the kids in the living room/dining room/kitchen area. The house, its decor and amenities definitely feel more like a friend’s home than a rental. We were a bit worried that the babies would break something or fall down the steps, but managed to avert any incidence. We would definitely stay here again, though perhaps when the kids are a bit older. My husband cannot wait to go back during the warmer months to fully utilize the outdoor kitchen and to take advantage of the trophy fishing spot. We were pleasantly surprised how close and accessible Durango was to the house and would highly recommend this property to anyone looking for relaxation, outdoor fun or a gorgeous view.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

Our family loved the home and the property. Beautiful house, and lots to see and do outside. Wildlife everywhere, the kids loved seeing the wild turkeys stroll by at least twice a day. Great location just a short drive south of Durango.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

Our family of four spent a week in this lovely home in August 2012. It is peaceful with wildlife nearby that we all enjoyed. The river is a short walk from the house. The owners were responsive and friendly with our questions. The home is beautiful and we used it as our home base for our day-trips around Durango. The yard has lovely landscaping with little "fairy bridges" that our children (ages 12 and 9) loved. The location is private and quiet yet an easy 15 minute drive to Durango. The kitchen was well equipped with everything you might possibly need. The patio is great for having your morning coffee or chilling after a day of fun and watching the wildlife. Our kids want to return and so do we. We recommend staying here if you are looking to relax and enjoy the beautiful Durango area.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway.

We stayed at this beautiful home and property for 10 extraordinary days. I can honestly say that this property is the best by far that we have rented through VRBO. The home itself is very spacious, beautifully remodeled and tastefully decorated. The views from all the rooms look out onto green pastures which conveyed a feeling of serenity while you read, write or just contemplate the surroundings. The outdoor area is excellent for barbecuing and playing games. The Animas River is a short walk through the field. After receiving lessons, we spent several days fly fishing which we just loved. Most of our vacations are fairly active but this property is one that allowed us to feel so comfortable about just taking time to relax. And oh the hot tub! Chris was very helpful with all our questions. I would recommend this rental to anyone without reservation. My family of 6 enjoyed this Durango property very much. It was our first experience using vrbo and the descriptions and photos of the property were very accurate. Chris was very helpful answering all of my questions. My son in law is an avid fly fisherman and really enjoyed the close access to the Animas River which he fished at least once a day! It was also fun seeing the wild life around the house; deer, wild turkeys and racoons. The house has a beautiful fully stocked kitchen and an open concept family room so you can spread out in different areas but still be together in the same room. Another highlight for us was having 3 bathrooms! We were able to get ready for our adventures on time-which is pretty impressive with 6 people! You do need a car as downtown is a good 20 minute drive. I would definitely recommend this property to anyone looking for a quiet spot to relax and enjoy nature!Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, pet owners.

We stayed here for a week with our three young children (3, 7 and 9). This is the nicest vacation house we have rented. Very beautifully remodeled and well maintained. We loved the spacious, open floor plan for family time, but there was still plenty of room to spread out when we wanted. Our favorite part was the outdoor living area, WOW! The property next door has friendly horses, and the kids loved going out to see them every morning. This was easy access to so many activities in the area, major highways accessible. You will need a car, unless you just want to relax at the house (which we could have done if we were there without kids!). We would absolutely recommend this rental house.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

Our family of four loved being in this artistically designed, comfortable home close to the Animas River. It was the best of both worlds as we retreated to the country each evening, yet were only minutes from historic Durango and other wonderful destinations. The bedrooms are comfortable, the kitchen is extremely well equipped and spacious, and the indoor and outdoor living areas made for incredible meals in the cool air. We stayed for 5 nights in August 2011. The photos don't do it justice - the very nicest vrbo home we have ever stayed in. It is spacious and nicely laid out for maximum privacy - beautifully decorated and very comfortable. It is away from town, very quiet, but convenient to Mesa Verde Natl Park, Silverton-Durango Narrow Gauge Railway and great restaurants. The grounds are cool and inviting. Chris and Bob are very nice and accommodated us on very short notice, answered all our questions and made us feel very welcome. This property worked great for our family of seven vacation. The floor plan is ideal to get everyone together for meals and social activity but just enough privacy when needed. The outdoor patio was a huge hit for us! We enjoyed the home's beautiful setting as well. It is convenient to Durango for everything you need and far enough from Durango to enjoy the peace and quite we were looking for. The Animas River is within walking distance if fishing is on your list of activities! It was a pleasure dealing with the owners; they were very responsive. Suggest you try this property if you are planning anything in Durango.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

Amazing! That pretty much sums up this property. It is a gorgeous house tucked into the Animas River Valley just a short drive into Durango. We were very pleased with the accomodations. The kitchen was very well stocked. The house clean and spacious. The outdoor area was absolutely our favorite place of all. Each night we had a fire in the outdoor fireplace and made smores as we listened to the night sounds around us. Just like the description says, it is a very peaceful place to be. Perfect for just lounging about. We would highly recommend this property to anyone who is vacationing in the Durango area. My husband and I stayed with my parents in March, 2011 and we really enjoyed the house and the patio (perfect for sharing a meal and bottle of wine by the fire)! The location of the house is perfect - far enough away for peace and relaxation, but close enough to Durango for shopping trips, restaurants, etc. And it was great that is a pet friendly property. Our dogs were in heaven with all the space to run around & play. Hi Chris, The moment I walked into the house we felt at home.. The relaxed, "good energy" of the home is so lovely. Thank you for renting it to us as it really made our stay in the Durango area so wonderful. We stayed an extra day due to the storm (16 " of snow). Chris, your home is truly beautiful and peaceful. This property was perfect for our family of seven reunion. The home's setting is relaxing with a great floor plan. You can get everyone together for meals or socializing, and still have plenty of room for privacy. There is plenty of activity in the Durango area to keep you busy and the Animas River is within walking distance of the property. After playing all day, we spent the rest of our time on the exterior patio enjoying afternoon breezes.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.
