We walked in the front door and were blown away by the gorgeous mountain view! This patio home became our second home, purchased in 2005, for a destination contrasting with our tropical home in Hawaii. Albuquerque is the perfect spot - dry and not too hot and not too cold, and lots of opportunities for the outdoor life we love. The 1,600+ square foot unit has two bedrooms with excellent mattresses, living room, dining room, kitchen, garage and two patios, fully fenced in. The layout is easy: Walk in the front entryway and turn right to go down a hall to the bedrooms. Farthest is the large master bedroom with a large bath and large walk-in closet. Choice of tub or shower, and a separate toilet room. Next, across from the second bathroom, is the guest room with a queen size bed. Moving back toward the living room is the office which has two desk areas, a computer table and Hewlett Packard printer. Choice of wireless or broadband to connect your laptop computer to internet. The Maytag washer and dryer are tucked in a little alcove before you get back to the living area. The living room has 12 foot ceilings and a set of sliding doors that look up to the Sandia Mountains nearby. The high ceilings, lots of windows, and white carpeting gave the area wonderful brightness. Outside the living room is an east-facing patio to greet the morning. That patio runs the length of the house with greenery and a big beautiful Aspen tree. Outside the dining room is another patio, also fenced, for sunset watching. The fully equipped kitchen is separated from the dining room by a glass brick wall, also adding to the bright atmosphere. Park one car in the garage and a second car just outside. The garage also has a long work bench with assorted essential tools. The house is also equipped with starter supplies of soaps, paper products, and condiments. We just ask that you replace what you use for the next person.
We love the time we spend in our house in Albuquerque, and are happy to share it with you when we are not there.
The neighborhood is very quiet, with the homes separated by fence/walls that provide great privacy.

Very clean, spacious, comfortable home with a view of the Sandia Mountains. We found the house conveniently located for grocery shopping and driving to locations in Albuquerque and Santa Fe. Our main goal was to attend the balloon festival and found we could easily drive to the festival within minutes.Owner response: Thanks, Mike. We're pleased you found it easy to get to the Balloon Fiesta.

My wife and I only have a few days remaining on our 1 month lease and as I sit on the east patio sipping my coffee, watching the sun rise and gettting caught up on my email I thought I better write a review so others may have the same opportunity if they come this way. The house is in a great location for anything you want to do from recreation to shopping. I lived in Albuquerque for 25 years and had many homes here and I can say with that background this is the place you should stay. The house is as advertised, open, bright with great views, clean and everything you need to just show up and start enjoying yourselves. While close to other homes it is surprisingly private and quiet. We come to Albuquerque often and will be staying here again. Thanks AbbyRecommended for: Families with teenagers, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, age 55+.

My husband and I are active seniours, we rented this home for the month of January 2012. The home was spotless, the owners commuication faultless, the listing photos are honest. What a great home away from home, a quiet location in an upscale part of the city, view of the tram, close to trails, restaurants, and the city. With 2 bedrooms and two full baths this VRBO fit our needs perfectly. We had occasional visitors while in Albuquerque so having an ensuite as well as a comfortable 2nd bath close to the 2nd bedroom was wonderful. The owners, Abby and Dave have gathered an extensive library which we used to find hikes, day trips, research kachinas, and even discover which birds were feeding in the courtyard outside our windows. The kitchen is fully equipped, the floors are warm, the gas fireplace is a button push start, the mountain is right there, the living in this home is easy and I would recommend it to anyone.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, sightseeing, age 55+, girls getaway.
Owner response: Once again, thanks for a great review. Glad our library is helpful to you. Come back if you can some day.

We'd highly recommend this wonderful vacation escape. The view of the Sandia Mountains is breath-taking and a wonderful bike trail is right across the street. This home is beautifully decorated, and the owners are exceptionally accommodating to make sure you enjoy your stay. Don't miss eating at Chow's Asian Bistro if you enjoy unique, quality food.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, adventure seekers, sightseeing, romantic getaway, age 55+, girls getaway, people with disabilities.
Owner response: Thanks for your kind words, and next time there we'll try your Chow's Asian Bistro. That's a new one to us! We would also recommend Padilla's, a great place with authentic New Mexican food. Having such great renters encourages us to continue to offer our home when we're not there.

Thank you for a great opportunity to stay in your lovely home. The house is extremely quiet, the views are spectacular, and the house is very comfortable. It felt like home away from home. Even though NM is hot in August the back patio had shade at most meal times and was a comfortable place to eat and enjoy the Sandia Mt. and tramway views. As previously noted the beds are very comfortable and everything was clean and efficiently laid out. We loved it.Recommended for: Sightseeing, romantic getaway, age 55+, girls getaway.

We were very pleased with the condo upon arrival. We enjoyed the view of the Sandia Peak through the wall of windows in the spacious living room. The changing sunlight and shadows on the mountain throughout the day and at sunset are beautiful to see. We had everything we needed in the condo. The king bed is luxurious. It was great to have the garage, washer and dryer, and computer hookup. The Tramway location worked out well for us for grocery shopping (love Trader Joe's) or eating out and sightseeing. Abby and Dave are good to work with and it was helpful to also have Dan available in ABQ.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, sightseeing, romantic getaway, age 55+, girls getaway.
Owner response: We are so pleased with our latest 5-star review. Thanks to all of our responders. It's interesting, each of you seems to highlight at least one of the features we also love: the incredible view of the mountain, the elegance of the house, the luxurious king bed, general cleanliness, the good underfloor heating system, quick access to the great hiking and biking trails, the nearby shopping (love Trader Joe's), and the ease of getting around town.

My Family visited friends and we stayed in this great house and perfect location. As we stayed at Xmas it was brilliant to wake each morning to see peak and the snow falling. The house is comfortable ad warm (underfloor heating). very roomy and so much better than a hotel. Everything you need is there and shops are only 5 minutes down the road. Abbey and Dave have been a pleasure to deal and everything was easy. Highly recommened Sydney AustraliaRecommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, families with young children, age 55+.

My month long stay at Dave and Abby's was absolutely wonderful. The photos and descriptions do not exaggerate. This is an elegant home very conveniently situated, close to stores, restaurants and all shops. If you are a bird watcher, you will be amazed by the birds that visit the patio and surrounding areas. The mountains form a spectacular backdrop and you are within minutes of great hiking trails. The owners make everything comfortable and welcoming for you. I highly recommend this home to anyone wanting to visit Albuquerque.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, adventure seekers, sightseeing, romantic getaway, age 55+, girls getaway.

I rented this beautiful home for 6 months. The views of the Sandias (and the tramway) are lovely. The area is safe and quiet. There are hiking, walking, and bike paths with in walking distance. It is close to the new railway and you can be in Santa Fe in less than an hour without driving. Albuquerque is a nice town with lots of culture and many things to do. I loved it here!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, sightseeing, age 55+, girls getaway.

We have rented this property for 2-3 months each year for the last five years and have had a very pleasant experience. The listing accurately describes the property and it is clean. We have excellent relations with the owners. As a bicycle enthusiast I would add that there that there are excellent bike paths in the city that I use regularly, including one right along Tramway Blvd. I can easily get to the city from here safely on bike. Also, the Cibola National Forest is minutes away, with its excellent hiking. One hour by car or train gets you to Santa Fe. There is a lot to do in Albuquerque and its environs. About the owner: As retirees, we wanted a new place to explore. Dave retired as a professor psychology at the University of Hawaii, and Abby worked in a creative health program for older adults. The Southwest holds great appeal for us with its wide open spaces, beautiful landscapes, exotic culture, and Indian art. From Albuquerque we explore Utah, Arizona, Colorado and New Mexico. When we're at home, we hike and bike in and around the Sandia Mountains. We're also serious recreational bird watchers and have found wonderful birding buddies through the Central New Mexican Audubon Society and the Bosque del Apache National Wildlife Refuge.
Why the Owner Chose Albuquerque:
The Sandia Heights area is both beautiful and practical in that you can quickly get to anywhere in Albuquerque via Tramway, Paseo del Norte, I-40 and I-25. We love that we're really close to everything but feel like we're in the country, away from the bustle.
The neighborhood is quiet and safe. Shopping and recreation are close and convenient.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
Besides our explorations, we love to eat and find New Mexican cuisine very much to our liking. Restaurants are 5 or 20 minutes from the house, and in an hour we can sample the great fare of Santa Fe. While our home is very private, we have met compatible neighbors as we walk around the complex and hike and bike nearby. There are several friendly churches nearby as well. A trip up the nearby Albuquerque tram is a great thrill as you can see the entire city, and once there you can hike in the clear mountain air. We love the cool dry air which gives us a change from Hawaii's warm days.
