Booking now for 2013!
Our property is not a typical rental -- it's a beach house that we have called home for 25+ years. But with the kids of 2 families all grown up and moved on -- we want new families to enjoy their summers here, just as we have. It's not a sand castle -- it's a family gathering spot -- ready to give everyone a place to relax, enjoy the beach, and settle down to share meals at our 'seats 14' dining room table -- the gathering place for all visitors! Check out LINKS TO MORE INFORMATION below for a link to our website about our home.
With 7 bedrooms and beds for 13, along with 4 full baths and a powder room -- it's an ideal place for grandparents to vacation with adult children and their grandchildren. With a living room, a family room and a porch and deck, there is room for everyone to wander off and read, watch the Phillies in HD, or just have conversation in the living room - time together AND time alone. We've got an indoor sun porch and a large deck on the 2nd floor -- with places for puzzles, quiet reading, and sunbathing. We've got DVD players and VHS players, with a pretty awesome collection of family-friendly films. The link for our home website is available below.
Our home is located on the beach block, and we are less than 20 'shore blocks' to town, on bike-lane lined Second Avenue. We are adjacent to the extensive acreage known as the 'nuns' retreat and beach' as well as the bird sanctuary. We are a short walk to a small community playground with swings and climbing equipment -- our kids all learned to ride 2-wheelers in this little bit of quiet at the shore. We believe that our 'Beach House' is truly a family-friendly retreat for your summer vacation.
And it's not just about summer -- with a fully-equipped kitchen, a large dining room and 4 full baths, it's a great off-season or holiday retreat for families or couples. Cook your turkey here, or spend New Year's Eve with a few couples -- the town is quiet and there's no need to drive around. (4 night minimum preferred in off-season). Call us or send us an email for more information. MAXIMUM OCCUPANCY is 13 of any age- no exceptions without written authorization in the lease.

Our best week of the year with our extended family

This was the second year we spent in the house (or the Mansion as one of our granddaughters calls it !) for our beach vacation. We could not wait for the week to start ! It was great to be able to come down on a Friday .There was very little traffic for any of us.We come from all over and evrybody said "no more coming down on a Saturday". We love the space the house gives for us all .Everyone is so comfortable in their bedrooms and with each family having their own bathroom. In the early morning the kids go out on the veranda to read or play games to wait for the adults to wake up. The kitchen is very well equipped and we cooked many great meals there. And the diningroom ! All of us sat together at mealtime .The kids at the far end occupying the same seats as last year . We had wonderful conversations between the adults and the kids. Times like that stay with you for a long time ! The kids spent their time of the beach in the den where they played games and watched their TV shows and us adults sat in the big livingroom with our TV shows , mostly the Phillies. The beach on 113th street is wonderful. Not very crowded and close to the house. Just a few minutes from the house which is so nice for both young and old. The owners have made it easy for us renters. There are beach chairs , umbrellas, shovels and buckets and beachtags. The kitchen has everything you need and more.Towels and sheets too. We love to go to Uncle Ben's for a pancake breakfast , Springer's ice cream ,the bead store on 3rd ave,Fred's tavern and the fudge store and Stone Harbor Pizza . We like to go to the inlet at low tide to look for shells and hermit crabs and little fish swimming in the tidepools. When we came to the house Elizabeth from Seven Mile Supervisors welcomed us and led us into a spotless house . All the beds were made with clean towels on each bed, the bathrooms had plenty of toiletpaper , Kleenex boxes and handsoap. She told us about the new washingmachine and how to run it and made sure we had her cell phone number to reach her in case we needed to. We had a wonderful time and are already looking forward to our week next year.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, age 55+, families with young children.
Owner response: Wow! Thanks for the wonderful comments. It's especially great to hear that 7 Mile Supervisors did a good job -- this was our first year of "by owner" and we really think we have found the best of all worlds. You were great tenants and we are thrilled that you are already booked for next summer. No mansion -- but glad the kids think so. A house with spaces for everyone -- sometimes together, sometimes not. Have a lovely fall! See you next summer!

Although we were cut short by Hurricane Irene - we had a fabulous week! Beautiful sunshine, white sandy beach, warm waters and dolphins putting on a show. Elizabeth was delightful to work with and all was as promised. The new deck will certainly be a welcome addition. Once again, many thanks for a delightful week.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, girls getaway, adventure seekers.
Owner response: Thanks for your feedback. Glad you enjoyed our home and Stone Harbor. Also appreciate your comment about Elizabeth. This was our first summer "by owner" and our first time using 7 Mile Supervisors for our "by owner" rental property management, and it's been a great one. Elizabeth and Ryan have been our eyes and ears on the island -- and they even closed up the house for the hurricane! Sorry your trip was cut short -- hope you are safe on Long Island!

We spent 4th of July week at this wonderful beach house! LOVE the Friday - Friday rental!! I spent summers as a kid in Stone Harbor - & this is like a slice of the good old days.....the house is spacious but not stuffy - you can really spread out and enjoy your whole family. The deck and screen porch are the best way to end your days at the beach. This house has EVERYTHING you need (linens included - which is huge when you are trying to pack up on your last day!) I love the south end because you literally don't ever have to get in your car - Clark's Market, Bradley's, Donna's - all within walking distance! The Nuns are great neighbors! This truly is the perfect Stone Harbor beach house!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car.
Owner response: Nothing makes an owner happier than a tenant who really enjoys the house the way we have. It's been our family retreat since the kids were born, and now that they are grown up, we're sharing the house with tenants to keep it affordable :) Thanks so much for your comments. Our property managers told us you were wonderful, and we look forward to renting to you again next season!

This is the house we have been looking for since our family became extended. We have rented for many, many, years at Stone Harbor and had been looking for one close to the beach and large enough to give us all some space to find some private time if we wanted that. The walk to the beach is safe for children and older folks alike. The parking is more than adequate, the kitchen well-equipped, and the dining table for 14 the ultimate. The house is well built and everything operates as it should.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car, people with disabilities.
Owner response: Thank you so much for your kind words about our home. We enjoy ownership so much more when we know that people get as much joy from staying there as our families have for 25 years. Like you, we think the dining room table being able to seat your whole family makes it all so special!

Owner info
Year Purchased: 1985
About the owner: Our beach house is not only family-friendly, it's family-owned. Bought in 1985 by our parents, aka Mimi and Poppa, along with their two married adult daughters (the current owners) -- it's been a family center for more than a generation. Now the grandparents are great-grandparents, and we've got another generation lining up to 'use the beach house.' 3 families peacefully coexisted in this home -- each family had a bathroom, the dining room table was big enough for everyone, and Springers Home-made Ice Cream has filled our freezer and our imaginations from the beginning. You'll see generational pictures taken in front of Springers from the beginning when there were 3 grandchildren to modern times when the number reached 8, and the oldest is almost 30 now. Oh - a great grandchild too! We would love to share our beach house with you -- it's our home and we are pretty careful to make sure our tenants think it can be their home too!
Why the Owner Chose Stone Harbor:
Our family vacationed 'at the shore' from our earliest memories. In the 1950s we would come to Cape May and stay near the beach -- wherever we could find a spot. We switched to Ocean City in the 60s, and Avalon in the 70s. It was in the 80s that our rental search landed us in Stone Harbor .... and that's where we put down roots. With the family spread across the country, we all came to Stone Harbor in August each summer, looking for a rental that would fit our crowd. In 1985, we decided that we could pool our resources and stop talking about how hard it was to find the right place....When we found this house, we knew we had found our beach home. Our kids have grown up with memories of this house and this town -- and hope to bring their own children here. We chose Stone Harbor because we all love the ocean, and the crowds are so much more manageable...there's room to play frisbee on the beach! The small town feel of the community around 96th street freed up our kids to experience summers the way we had...riding bikes, doing soccer camp, working at Springers, and participating in the local community theater (Avalon Players in the early years -- Seven Mile Stars in the later years -- our family was part of founding that organization in Stone Harbor!) We play golf too -- and there are so many courses within 30 minutes of the house that we never ran out of options. The kids can ride bikes -- anywhere -- and the walk to town is so easy that we rarely use our car once we arrive. The Boardwalk at Wildwood has some awesome amusement rides (and water parks) -- and provides that authentic beach experience once or twice each summer.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
One summer at our home and you'll be sold on the joys of having a dining room that will seat everyone -- and a kitchen that is made for 'many cooks' in the kitchen. Conventional cooking equipment, convection and microwave ovens, a full freezer to bring food from home, lobster pots and crackers (and a great source for live lobsters if you're game!) The hot water heater never seems to run out of hot water, which is a joy when a house full return from the beach and want to use the 5 showers (one outdoors). The Air conditioning is nice, but sea breezes and the sound of the birds in the Bird Sanctuary, along with ceiling fans in the bedrooms means you can enjoy the summer the way you remember it growing up. We're just a short walk to the beach, and we've got chairs and beach towels and umbrellas and games....whatever you can imagine. We've got a house full of books -- we promise you can all find something good to read! Because the beach is shared with the Summer Retreat for Immaculata's nuns, it's a quiet guarded beach that's adjacent to an active boogie-board guarded beach. If you have little ones, you'll find you can relax while in the sun because the beach isn't filled with day trippers....but your own teens can pop one beach south and party with the crowds!
