Fishing, Boating, Swimming, Hiking, Kayaking, Museum, Reading, Writing, Relaxing. Butterfly Cottage has something for everyone. The ultimate in family vacation or just for the two of you and guests. It is located on Useppa Island which is nestled between Pine Island and Cayo Costa Island in Pine Island Sound. It is a private island only accessible to those who are invited to come by homeowners or members. It is exclusive with 24 hour security. It features the Collier Inn for lunch and dinner, the Tarpon Bar for more relaxed atmosphere, the Joseffa Boutique for ice-cream and snacks and forgotten items, and the Useppa Island Museum. Travel on the island is by foot, golf cart, or bicycle. Golf carts can be rented by the owner. The island boosts beautiful palm trees, bromeliads, orchids, gopher tortoises, and many varieties of birds including the white pelican and osprey. Civilization on Useppa Island dates back 10,000 years to the Calusa Indians.

Butterfly Cottage has pine floors, bead board walls, and beach decor. The Southwest views take you across Rum Cove and Pine Island Sound to the setting sun over Cayo Costa. Your yacht and boats can dock right at private dock just steps from Butterfly Cottage.

Boating: Transportation to the island is by your own boat, the Useppa launch, or by local captains.

The owner is a U.S. Coast Guard captain. Captain Cathy will take you beach combing on Cayo Costa, Gasparilla (Boca Grande), or North Captiva Island. She will also take you to famous Cabbage Key for a cheeseburger in paradise!

Golf cart rental.

Cayo Costa: Cayo Cost is just minutes away by boat and is a pristine Florida State Park. The tram will take us to the beach. The beach is immaculate, white and shining, with shells, shark's teeth, and a spot for your toes. Float in the clear pristine salt water. Umbrellas available for protection. Small gift shop with cold drinks and candy bars.

Cabbage Key: Cabbage Key is a funky, fun, dollar bill wall-lined, Tarpon fishing legend of an island and restaurant just five minutes from Useppa. You must have one of their key lime pies or mud pies! Or of course the famous Rum Runner! By the T-shirt that answers the ten most asked questions about Cabbage Key!

                Useppa Island is a mystery to most people....even those who live just 20 minutes away. It is that private. It is an island whose history began with the Calusa's and the Silver King. The Tarpon. We are just minutes from Boca Grande Pass and Captiva Pass where the Silver King migrate in the spring and early summer.
