We had a large family get together at Antebellum for our son's graduation from Gettysburg College. It made so much more sense to rent a house rather than 5/6 hotel rooms. The house was better than the pictures. It had everything we needed to make our stay there very comfortable. It is close enough to Gettysburg to get there in about 15 minutes. Having the corner market so close made life easy. Parking for our cars was not an issue with 2 driveway spots and parking on Main. There are a lot of stairs, so if you are traveling with anyone who has difficulty with stairs this could be tough....but there is a sleep sofa on the first floor with a half bath. Also the bunk house is on one level. Kitchen was nicely stocked the decor was so beautiful it seemed like we were living in a different time. At the same time the house was updated. Dana was easy to deal with, and her response to questions was very timely. I would definitely recommend Antebellum to anyone who will be in the Gettysburg area.Did you find this review helpful? We had a great stay and the accommodations served our large party of wedding guests perfectly. I would love to come back some day with my family and spend more time at the property. It's a great space in a quiet little town and would surely make for a relaxing and simple vacation.Recommended for: Families with young children, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, sightseeing, girls getaway.

Hi Dana: We had a great trip. The house worked well for our group. The location was perfect, close enough to sight see and far enough away for quiet evenings. We watched all your historic Gettysburg DVDs. They really helped put it all together for us.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Hi Dana: Our stay at your home was terrific. The space accommodated gathering to talk and eat as a whole group, as well as nooks and spaces to be quiet and separate. The weather turned out to be lovely. Everyone gave the weekend their stamp of approval.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

"We were totally satisfied with our stay! It worked out perfectly for us and we had everything we needed. It is well-stocked and felt just like home. The neighbors were great, too, and hooked us up with an Adams Co map. It was a huge blessing to stay in your home. Thanks so much!"Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

"Dana, thank you so much for helping us out. Trying to find a place for a group of 17 isn't always easy. Your Gettysburg place was plenty big enough for our group. In addition, the house is immaculate. Fine details in keeping the tradition and architecture of the house is apparent throughout. Nice updates though with modern amenities we are all accustomed to today. Between the customer service you provided to us from our initial email to the reservation process and checking with us throughout our stay and the physical property, I couldn't ask for more. If we are ever in the area again, you would be my first call. Thanks so much." -- Justin Sayre, Scoutmaster Boy Scout Troop 279, Reynoldsburg, OhioDid you find this review helpful? About the owner: Dana Wilkie lives in the D.C. area and is an editor and journalist.
Why the Owner Chose Gettysburg:
We looked at dozens of homes near ski resorts, but kept coming back to this singular property because there was nothing like it anywhere. It continues to enchant us, and we find some new feature every time we visit.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
While we primarily chose the home because it is two minutes from the ski resort, we also wanted a property that would keep us interested during the off-season -- the spring, summer and fall. We found that nearby Gettysburg and the surrounding wine country offered tons of activities all year long, including antique shows featuring dealers from six states, wine festivals, great downtown shopping, horseback riding, Civil War museums, exhibits and reenactments, hiking in nature preserves and more.
