This is relatively the most inexpensive unit you will find in DC that is close to the Metro and a broad variety of stores and/or restaurants. However, the unit was located in an old building and there was a problem with cleanliness and that, in turn, was probably the culprit to the mice problem. The management responded to my calls by putting mouse traps in the kitchen. Which, if you don't mind hearing them going off in the middle of the night or want an extra house guest, then no problem. Furthermore, an inexplicable odor was eminating from an unknown source...possibly a result of the old building but, again, the maintenance handyman didn't seem to share our sentiment or sense, so management felt we were probably being "particular" . Columbia Heights has other VRBO's for about the same price that had less problems. Management needs to solve certain key issues before renting out such units but if you don't mind furry friends that scuttle about in the middle of the night than I'd look elsewhere.Recommended for: Tourists without a car.

This is a small studio that is well equipped for 2 people. Description and photos are accurate. Property is clean and well maintained. Fast internet, satellite TV and full kitchen. Location is good - about 10 minute walk to Metro/Circulator bus stop and shopping. Be aware that there are two sets of stairs to this top floor unit. Owners have lower floor units available in the same building. Street noise and lights at night may disturb some. I recommend eye shades and ear plugs. The accommodation is similar to a Residence Inn studio at almost half the price for DC area - makes it a very good value for an extended stay. DC metro service makes car unnecessary altho parking is available on-site for an extra charge. Recommend visitors purchase a Metro "smart card' - $5 initial cost is quickly covered by avoiding new $1 surcharge on paper tickets, it also provides for discount and free transfers on Circulator buses. These buses ($1 per ride)are cheaper than the Metro and run about every 10 mins. They can get snarled in DC traffic but are convenient from Columbia Heights to DC Zoo and central DC (McPherson Square).Recommended for: Sightseeing, tourists without a car, adventure seekers.

Excellent location, convenient within walking distance to shops, grocery store, train station, and restaurants. The room is small but includes the necessary items for the purpose of the trip. I most likely do it again if I have to travel to DC. Overall a good experience.Recommended for: Sightseeing, tourists without a car.

Highly recommended! I would definitely stay here again. The rental unit is a larger, sunny studio with a full kitchen and bath, located on the third floor of a three-story walk-up apartment building. The place was very clean, quiet, and had all the conveniences of home. It was in a great location - within 3 or 4 blocks, you'll have access to the Metro, a large grocery store, Target, bakeries, restaurants, bars/pubs, and coffee spots. The neighbourhood was only 10-15 minutes by Metro to the Mall and was safe. Elizabeth and Jarek, the owners, provided great service - quick responses to questions, and provided lots of helpful information about the neighbourhood and DC.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, sightseeing, age 55+, tourists without a car, girls getaway.

This is a great place to stay in D.C. The owners are very friendly and helpful. The apartment is very well furnished especially the kitchen and well sized for 2 people. The location is great, just a few minutes away from the metro which brings you everywhere in D.C. in short time. Supermarkets, shopping places and restaurants are nearby. We could highly recommend the Heights Restaurant! We also enjoyed the free WiFi access. We felt very safe and comfortable. The only small point are the windows so you here the street noises - but this was not a problem for us. We would definitely recommend this place and would stay here again.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, sightseeing, tourists without a car, adventure seekers, girls getaway.

We enjoyed our stay here in Washington very much. The apartment was very comfortable and the location perfect. We were provided with detailed information on the area by the owners which was very helpfull in planning our time in Washington. It was nice to park the car in a safe area for the week and not to have to drive, as the stores, restaurants and Metro were all located conveniently close. We would definitely recommend it to friends and family and would stay here again.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, sightseeing, age 55+.
