1896 Historical Retreat Ranch / Pool Tennis Party Barn
- Minimum stay:2 nights

- Pets allowed:No
- Wheel chair accessible:No
This is a quite, private, maintained Historical Ranch House. A place to relax & enjoy family, friends, and yes of course the Facilities...
As you drive up the property you will notice an historical school on your left, This is when you realize your about to experience something very special. The road takes you across the cattle guard with 20 plus Oak Trees towering over you from both sides of the road. You will notice cattle grazing on the left but your attention will keep you staring right...
The right side of the road sits the Historical Home with the Texas Flag welcoming you into the Gate. The home is surrounded by wooden fence to keep the cattle out. The Barn opens into a Large Party Barn with walk around decks, inside has Pool Table, ping pong table, neon signs, 3 flat screen TVs, frig, music, etc... 'kids really enjoy it and it allows the adults to relax back at the main house'.
The trees light up at night around the pool and the Covered Terrace. The Terrace has a large outdoor grill as well as a fire pit for the kids to sit around at night. The hot tub seems to be a nice touch at the end of the evening as well. The tennis court is a full size court so be sure to bring your racquets. Horse shoes and washers are a daily sport as well as biking and walking the property. Bring your bucket to fill with pecans also...

We were very happy and pleased with the property. It's very beautiful and the house is quite charming, but we were very disappointed with the pool. The pool water was green and had quite a bit of algae. The hot tub was great and ended up being used quite a bit. The cattle was a highlight for the children, as well as the tennis courts and all of the land for them to roam around on. Everyone truly enjoyed the great fire pit where we spent each night with a nice fire. Harrison was very helpful and was so kind to let our children feed the longhorns.Recommended for: Families with young children, families with teenagers, girls getaway.

Marc, I wanted to write you a email and express to you what a great time we had this past weekend. Your house is amazing and the property is so beautiful. Harrison was outstanding and was so willing to help with anything. We have already talked about coming back with our families! =) Thanks again for everything! RyanDid you find this review helpful? We had a great experience at the Fredericksburg Ranch. The home was clean, Harrison (the grounds keeper) was helpful and available when we had questions about the pool, etc.) and the kitchen was a cozy place to hangout while we took turns making meals. Marc, the owner, was also very easy to communicate with and responsive. I would recommend this place to anyone and we've already talked about how it would be fun to bring our husbands/kids on the next trip to this beautiful spot.Recommended for: Families with young children, age 55+, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, girls getaway, adventure seekers.

Better than the web site shows. This property is ideal location, close to town, but one feels like you are in the country with the beautiful longhorn cattle for neighbors. Caretaker Harrison, was very helpful wih any quiestions and the property was immaculate. We loved the long dining table in the "dog trot". The porch area was in use every day, plenty of seating for our party of 7. We took an all day Wine Tour via Tx Limo's and it was great to come "home" and relax. We played a little ping pong, some pool and relaxed in the two livingareas. Owner, Marc was very warm, friendly over the telephone also, and we can highly recommend this property to families or just a couple who want some time to get away.Recommended for: Families with young children, age 55+, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, girls getaway, sightseeing.

Can not say enough nice things about this property. It is better than the website shows. Close to town, yet very private. Lots to do, we never even turned on the television. Everything was clean and well maintained. Harrison was helpful with any questions and took the time to let us feed the longhorn. We enjoyed the wonderful porch, plenty of seating for our party of 7. We enjoyed learning the history of the house and loved the long table in the old "dog trot". Owner, was very warm, friendly over the telephone and we could not ask a better venue to celebrate my 60th birthday. I can highly recommend this place for family or a couple seeking some downtown.Recommended for: Families with young children, age 55+, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, girls getaway, adventure seekers, sightseeing.

This place has it all; awesome house, kitchen, pool, barn full of toys, and all sorts of great grills to cook on. There is nothing better than a Texas sunset, and seeing one in this place made it even better. The house is immaculate, and you feel as though you are stepping back in time. I booked this place for business the first time, and can't wait to bring my family back here for a weekend. The property has all of your needs, but should you forget anything, downtown Fredericksburg is 5 minutes away, as is an HEB. I will be back for sure!Recommended for: Families with young children, age 55+, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, girls getaway, sightseeing.

In June, I organized a bachelorette getaway weekend for my sister and 10 of her friends. What a fabulous place I stumbled upon! My sister really enjoyed her time. In fact, Saturday, we were supposed to go to various wineries all day. After one tasting, everyone wanted to head back to our “awesome” house to just hang out. I really didn’t expect it to be THAT great, had no idea! The onsite maintance gentleman was super helpful and showed us how to turn on the hot tub and lights for evening pool time and left his phone number should we need anything. We walked in to the kitchen to find a sweet note left and a chilled bottle of wine. (Such an unexpected nice touch!) The online profile absolutely could not give this home justice. It is well kept, HUGE and has the most charm of any place I've ever stayed. I did not want to leave. It felt like home, all the way around....just one that sleeps a ton of people (With an amazing kitchen and living room)! Looking forward to booking this house again soon!Recommended for: Families with young children, age 55+, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, girls getaway.

We brought our 3 daughters and their families to this incredible historic farmhouse outside of Fredericksburg last summer for our annual vacation. We had an absolutely wonderful time and everyone enjoyed the pool, the barn with the ping pong table, flat screen tv, and we used the tennis court several times. It was just lovely and so secluded, yet 10 minutes from Fredericksburg and great shopping! They all would like to make this our annual summer trip because it is not too far to drive. The oinly thing that may have made it a little easier would be a 3rd bathroom. We are getting ready to plan our summer trip soon and hope to stay here again!Recommended for: Families with young children, age 55+, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, girls getaway, sightseeing.

This ranch house is truly fantastic. The space allows for wonderful memories and family time without being underfoot. The fire pit at night and my son's guitar was so pleasant and the STARS!!!! Oh MY! What a treat. Every morning the long horns wander over to the fence to say hello. Short drive to town allows easy access to market and shopping/exploring. Enchanted Rock State Park is well worth the visit-allow a few hours if hiking. Not fully accessible with stroller but can get pretty close and nice walk. Take water! The hot tub was nice and those not wanting to get wet can sit in the many chairs or loungers around the pool. The swings on the porches were nice early morning retreats.Harrison, caretaker, and Sandy, housekeeper, are readily available if you have any questions or needs. I highly recommend your family enjoy this complete diversion from routine life!Recommended for: Families with young children, age 55+, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, girls getaway, adventure seekers, sightseeing.
