We really enjoyed our stay here. It was a 5 minute walk to the Metro and then a 5 minute ride into the Mall area. The studio apartment was modern and clean. We were able to save a lot of money by cooking all of our breakfasts and half of our dinners in the apartment. There is a grocery store about a 3 minute walk from the place. Also there is secured parking available which was really important given that there is no other place to park in the neighborhood. Would highly recommend it!Recommended for: Tourists without a car, age 55+, sightseeing, romantic getaway, adventure seekers.

Nice neighborhood with a quick and easy walk to the Metro. The apartment was clean and well maintained and the owners were responsive to any requests. My only complaint was the sound from other occupants. The walls were thin. I slept with earplugs and that helped. Otherwise very comfortable.Recommended for: Tourists without a car, romantic getaway.

I booked this property from seeing the pictures and reading the information about the neighborhood; but when I saw the place I was disappointed. The furnishings were very uncomfortable. The bed was a futon with a very hard mattress, and it was too large for the room, which made it difficult to maneuver. Instead of a comfortable chair to sit in there was another futon folded up and pushed up against the bay window, taking up too much space in the small room. The floors were bare hardwood and you could hear every footstep, every move above you. The alarm kept going off in the foyer. The bathroom door didn't latch. It did have a great shower, though, and there was a large walk-in closet. The neighborhood was not as nice as I expected. The shopping area is very chaotic, with people just hanging out, and there was police activity on two occasions when we went to get groceries. The price was right, but I was looking for something cozy in a nicer neighborhood, so next time I'll know better and pay more for the comfort and security. I would recommend this to someone who is only concerned about price.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 3/4

We needed to find a place to stay that was in reasonable proximity to our son and his fiance's place so we were not spending more time getting to them than visiting. We also needed it to be pet friendly (3 lb dog in tow) and not exorbitant cost-wise. Not only did this Columbia Heights rental fit our needs, but it exceeded our expectations. We were within walking distance to everything, including our son and his fiance. The unit was clean, comfortable, roomy, and exactly as it was presented on the website. And Derek and Elizabeth were great to work with. We could not have been happier or more satisfied. We will definitely stay here again.Recommended for: Tourists without a car, age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, sightseeing, families with young children, pet owners, romantic getaway, adventure seekers.

The condo owners were very accomodating and easy to work with. The condo was in a great neighborhood and we enjoyed exploring the local eateries. Only 3 blocks to the Metro and 2 blocks to the grocery store. The condo had everything you would need, was clean, had free washer/dryer, and high speed internet. The tenants before us must have cracked the coffee pot, but we made do without. The Heights is a great restaurant with good happy hour. We also enjoyed Thailand and Meridian Pint. Thanks so much for the hospitality!Recommended for: Tourists without a car, sightseeing, romantic getaway.

The building is awesome and in a great neighborhood. I needed close access to the Metro system and this place fit the bill perfectly, as the Columbia Heights Metro station was a short 4 block walk from the building. My rental unit was on the ground floor and was larger than I expected. The apartment was clean, quiet and equipped with a good kitchen and a huge closet. The bathroom was a bit on the smallish side but had a well functioning shower with plenty of hot water and clean towels. The bed was comfortable, large and clean. There was a laundry room in the basement that came in very handy and they provided laundry detergent free of charge. All the equipment in the apartment worked very well. The free Wi-Fi was actually the only disappointing feature of the apartment - though it had a strong signal, it would cut out regularly every 5 or 10 minutes. It was not a problem with my computer but with the building network and it was frustrating at times. However, in the scheme of things this was a decidedly minor issue. No question I would definitely stay in this building again when I next visit DC.Recommended for: Tourists without a car, age 55+, sightseeing.

I spent a whole week in this studio during a conference. The studio is well described, the pictures show almost what you get. What is not shown, is the spacious walk-in cabinet and the iron equipment. As my purpose of the trip was mainly business, I was also happy to work with the free fast speed WiFi. A large Giant supermarket is only 3 minutes away, same are various restaurants and cafés. It is only a short ride to the Convention Center and Downtown Washington. The owner did a great job in preparing the stay with loads of information about Washington DC, and were very kind with arrangements to leave the luggage stored after the check-out. Had a great time and will definitely recommend this property to friends and relatives.Recommended for: Tourists without a car, age 55+, sightseeing.

I drove down to DC for the week with my son and we stayed at this Columbia Heights rental. The apt was better than described - was also much bigger than anticipated. There were no problems to complain about. A few minor things to note... I am not used to having someone live above me and there was a lot of nomadic walking around by someone above me -- the floor was a little squeeky which was the main issue -- did not keep me up, it was just somewhat annoying at times -- get some ear plugs and you will be fine. As unit 11 is on the first floor, other guests were not very courteous to first floor dwellers - meaning they congregated and talked (not softly) very early in the morning -- this was not too bad, but this is where ear plugs will come in handy -- these were not major issues worth complaining about to property owner/manager... You definitely do not need a car. I would love to stay here again if available when I travel and will definitely leave the car at home and take the train. The hosts provided great area information that was very helpful. We enjoyed our stay and DC and can't wait to return and stay at the same place... Thanks again!!!Recommended for: Tourists without a car, age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, sightseeing, families with young children, adventure seekers.

We visited D.C. for what turned out to be a very busy wedding weekend & loved the convenience & modern charm of the apartment. It was nice to be able to walk a few block for groceries & stash the fridge with goodies after a long day. Metro & bus stops are within easy walking distance & the apartment is secure, clean & has everything you need! We travel frequently & found this to be one of the better VRBO properties. I would recommend it to friends & family.Recommended for: Tourists without a car, girls getaway, sightseeing, romantic getaway, adventure seekers.
