Dragonfly Vacation rentals (formally Cloudbreak Vacation rentals) is an artist built home over looking the Ocean on West Bamfield. We are just a 5 minute walk from beautiful sandy Brady’s Beach. Located on 3 acres of land, there is a forest in the back and a large grassy lawn in the front of the house, ideal for kids of all ages.
The house is 4000 square feet, with two separate rental suites. The house can be rented as a whole (7 bedrooms) or separately (5 bedroom upper level, 2 bedroom lower suite).
The upstairs suite has 5 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, large kitchen, large living room area with fire place, woodstove, a sauna and a balcony which looks out to the ocean. The house has large wooden beams with lots of windows and high vaulted ceiling. It is very spacious and there is a large solarium area and a sitting room which can accommodate more for sleeping in pullout cots.
The lower suite is a 1000 square feet, newly renovated 2 bedroom suite. It is self contained with one bathroom, a large kitchen and living room with a woodstove. It has exposed wooden beams, high ceilings and lots of windows.
About Bamfield
Bamfield is located at the northern end of the West Coast Trail on Vancouver Island and is renowned for its rugged West Coast beauty. East and West Bamfield are divided by an inlet, making it just a 5 minute boat ride to the west side to where we are located. Once you arrive on the eastside, we will pick you up by boat and bring you over to the Westside. Everything on the Westside is accessible within a 20 min walk. There is a grocery store located on the boardwalk, which stretches along the inlet, ideal for an easy walk. There are more challenging walks and hikes in the forest as well. For your convenience a car is available for your use to and from the dock or store.

We used the Dragonfly house (full house) as a launching point for a group of West Coast Trail hikers and it was well worth the short water taxi ride from Bamfield. A beautiful property and extremely helpful and accommodating owners who even arranged to come pick us up and take us to the house. The house is luxurious and beautifully (and artistically) decorated. Highly recommended for family or friends groups. Spacious and lovely.Recommended for: Tourists without a car, age 55+, families with young children, sightseeing, adventure seekers, families with teenagers, girls getaway.

My son and his girlfriend recommended the Dragonfly to me, and my stay at the Dragonfly was beyond my expectations, and then some. The property is sparkling clean, very inviting and cosy, whether for a family reunion, a vacation with the kids, or a romantic stay. The layout is very functional, conducive to get togethers, while offering much needed privacy. The owners did an amazing job decorating, keeping practicality as first priority. The downstairs suite is a super private option for couples/families who appreciate a quiet time alone, for "batteries-recharging". Getting to and from the property anywhere in the town is as easy as can be, while "staying in" is also a rewarding option. I personally loved the early mornings on the patio, with the lovely view of the ocean, while sipping my first coffee of the day, surrounded by the beautiful garden. I would recommend Dragonfly to my friends anytime, and I look forward to visit again soon.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, tourists without a car, people with disabilities, age 55+, pet owners, families with young children, sightseeing, adventure seekers, families with teenagers, girls getaway.

I lived in Bamfield for 6 years before moving away, but I have made frequent trips back to visit friends and enjoy the amazing atmosphere, and I always try to stay at the Dragonfly. The Dragonfly is not only one of the nicest properties in Bamfield, but also one of the best values. The house is huge, but it still feels warm and cozy, and the owners (Mandy and Mateusz) have obviously put a ton of effort into making everything just perfect. The place is always spotless. I have stayed in both the upstairs suite as well as the downstairs, and both are great. Upstairs is big, open concept and perfect for bigger groups. Downstairs is super private, filled with windows overlooking the garden and perfect for smaller groups or a romantic getaway. It really feels like a home away from home (except my home doesn't have a nice cedar sauna like this place!). If you have little kids, they will probably never want to leave once they discover the solarium/playroom :) The location is also a major bonus - close enough to the docks and the rest of town, but also right at the top of the hill leading down to beautiful Brady's Beach. The house is totally quiet, surrounded by big trees and lovely gardens, and the deck is perfect for sunbathing in the afternoon and catching the sunset over the sound. Last time we stayed there though, we kept getting woken up.......by whales in the bay down below! An amazing spot- can't wait to come back again.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, tourists without a car, people with disabilities, age 55+, families with young children, sightseeing, adventure seekers, families with teenagers, girls getaway.

Owners are so nice and so friendly! House is beautiful and so much homey. They just have us - 22 adults and 11 children- and wow everything was provided. That gravel roads to this beautiful place is worth the travel.Recommended for: Tourists without a car, age 55+, families with young children, sightseeing, adventure seekers, families with teenagers.

We were a big group of people, 4 adults and 6 kids (3-6 years), and it worked out perfectly well. The hosts are the most wonderful person I have met in years, so very accommodating, helpful and friendly. They picked us up at the Ferry Dock, let us use their truck if we needed it or were driving us to the store. If you look for a place to relax and enjoying nature, appreciate the warm-heartedness of very friendly people, this is the place to go. It is an ideal place for kids with a wonderful sandy beach in a close walks distance and a forest in the backyard for exploration. There is also a playroom for the kids that keeps them entertained for hours, even though the biggest playroom is outside the door! It has a huge terrace and everything is furnished so warm and cozy. I think back to this week we spend there as one of our highlight of last year, and I do hope so much that we can go back there very soon! Don't miss the Ferry ride from Port Alberni to Bamfield with the Lady Rose Services, it is such a nice way to get there, peaceful and quiet, slowly drifting into paradise.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, tourists without a car, age 55+, families with young children.

We stayed in the Dragonfly House this summer, after taking the passenger boat from Port Alberni. We got picked up at the dock on time and had our luggage transported to the house. We thoroughly enjoyed our time at the house - very clean, large, lots of bright windows, well stocked, and lots of open space. A short walk to the amazing Brady's beach. Mandy and Mateusz were very helpful, but also left us our own space. This was the first time that I had hiked the West Coast Trail, and I happened to run into this house on the Internet while planning our trip. I couldn't have lucked out any more! Mateusz and Mandy were so welcoming to our family, and they have mastered the art of hospitality. From the little things such as picking us up at the dock to carrying our groceries for us, and the more obvious things such as the cleanliness of the space, they have provided a cost-efficient experience that was worth far more than what we paid. We will absolutely be returning to Dragonfly on our next visit. I was amazed by the elegant and unusual architecture of this house in such an out of the way spot! Although very spacious - with room for a large group of people - it still has a feeling of cosiness and comfort. The big windows and surrounding patio provide lots of light and pleasant views when sitting round the impressive fireplace. We enjoyed the easy access to both the best local beach and the famous board walk. About the owner: The house was purchased with a partner in 2006. We did some vacation rentals under the name of 'Cloudbreak Vacation Rentals' between 2007 and 2010. My husband and I have recently bought-out the partners and are excited to be offering year round vacation rentals. We have made some exciting changes, from changing the name of the house to renovating the basement suite.
