Piazzale Michelangelo apartment description
If you have ever wished to live in a style that only the rich and famous can afford this is your chance. This property was painstakingly restored in a building that is listed as a historical monument. It overlooks a valley towards the famous monastery of La Certosa. It is a five minute walk to Galileo's famous home Villa il Gioiello. The neighborhood is considered the finest in Florence due to the closeness to the city center (5 minutes by car or bike) yet being in the country at the same time. The gardens are also protected by the Italian government and are listed due to their importantance to the cultural heritage of the country. The property is flanked on one side by the famous castle Torre del Gallo, where it is claimed Galileo made some of his observations, and on the other by the famous Astrophysical Observatory Arcetri. There are simply too many important sites to list in Florence to repeat here. The apartment is a soaring monument and is filled with art by important Italian and international artists. There is not another property of this type anywhere in Tuscany.

My family and I were lucky enough to stay on this property for a week in May/June 2012. The restoration that has been done on this property is amazing. The entire property from top to bottom is 5 stars. In our opinion this is a much better choice than a hotel. After a long day of sightseeing, this is the place you want to come home to. You are really in the best spot in Florence. Close enough to the city to walk(downhill) to the city centre. You will want to take a Taxi back up unless you are up for a workout. We had a rental car, although you can easily use Taxi's, which was perfect to explore the countryside. Thank you for the great stay!

FANTASTIC FLORENCE ACCOMMODATIONS
FANTASTIC FLORENCE ACCOMMODATIONS
I was lucky to stay at this high end, capacious and beautifully appointed Italian modern townhouse in early July 2011 sometime soon after it was fully refurbished. It is in the centrally located Pian die Giulare area of Florence which, as we found out, was a popular destination of the Grand Tour in the late 19th century and that this place, in particular, was written about in E.M. Forster's Room with a View. We discovered that the adjacent castle on the grounds is the tallest point on the Southern side of Florence and that the property is on the street running along the top of a mountain with beautiful views for which the upscale neighborhood is named. Although quiet and secluded with its own pool the location is slightly more than a mile - hilly downhill view filled walking distance from the Ponte Vechhio. (You'll want a taxi on return - uphill is a challenge). In other words this place has the best of two worlds in the best of the Old World. When we compared the admittedly steep cost of staying here with the even steeper cost for a top end 5Star Florentine Hotel the value in space, beauty and tranquility of this location is clear. Although there is obviously no restaurant on the premises, for delightful dining we were 5 minutes from the famous Trattoria Omero. Maid service is provided every day except Sunday.

Year Purchased: 2001
About the owner: I have been living in Florence for the last 15 years. I have rebuilt and/or restored several historically significant properties around the city.
Why the Owner Chose Piazzale Michelangelo:
I decided to purchase the property because it was the nicest property in the best neighborhood in Florence. The history of Torre del Gallo called to me and was begging to be restored. I couldn't resist.
The Unique Benefits at this Apartment:
You have Florence just minutes away yet you are set in the countryside. It is heaven!
