Come to our home on the mountain and experience a magical time and place. It feels like the top of the world.

Rocky Mountain Heights is a 4,700 square feet three-level home with an amazing view from every window. Listen to the Big Thompson River from any of the bedroom balconies or windows.
Be sure you have a camera to get pictures of the wildlife that abounds in this peaceful natural environment. You could see elk, deer, fox, turkeys and big horn sheep that frequent the property that remains in its natural state - no manicured lawns or pristine flowerbeds.

Walk on our quiet 11 acres. Enjoy the wildflowers or go down the road and picnic by the Big Thompson. Only a short distance gets you to wonderful mountain trails, including Roosevelt National Forest and Deserted Village in Rocky Mountain National Park.

Minutes from Estes Park, you're close to the quaint shops, restaurants and multiple kids' activities. Get your pass to Rocky Mountain National Park and visit The McGregor Ranch and museum.

A short distance from our home, you can visit the unique little community store in Glen Haven. The cinnamon rolls, cherry cobbler and real ice cream sundaes are wonderful. The owner, Steve, will remind you of Sam Elliott. That is a treat in itself!

Just relax, take pictures of nature's creatures in your own yard. Shop, hike, try fly fishing. Come out in the winter and drink hot chocolate on the deck. Enjoy the hot tub while you watch it snow on our mountain top. (We do have 6 flat-screen satellite TVs and wifi for insiders!)

Because we use vacation rentals when we travel, we know that a clean home and wonderful clean sheets are a must. We provide both - and more. Come and see.

Welcome to a new world...

As other reviews have said, the property was comfortable, clean, and in a remote location with spectacular views. The house itself was spacious, easily accommodating our family group of nine adults and four children ranging in age from four months to seven years. The spacious deck with plenty of seating, two tables, a movable fire pit with plenty of split wood, a top-notch large gas grill and a newish hot tub (accommodates four adults) were well used and enjoyed by all. This vantage point allowed us to soak in all the fantastic vistas and occasional wildlife that wandered by (deer, wild turkeys and a foraging black bear one morning that looked at us for a minute and decided to wander off elsewhere). While everything about the property was as advertised on the fact sheet, there are several clarifications we would share with others considering a stay at Rocky Mountain Heights. The house has two showers, one shower by itself on the ground level and one on the third level in a full bath between two bedrooms. All other baths in the house were actually half baths, with the three in bedrooms also having a bathtub available, one being the Roman soaking tub and the other two having small claw foot type tubs (about a foot or so shorter than a standard bathtub). Not having air conditioning was also a bit of a surprise, but this is probably typical in the area given the elevation. The local property manager was very responsive to a couple of issues that arose during our stay. In summary, we had a fantastic time. The property location suited everyone well, whether some liked nature (nearby hiking trails and RMNP), shopping (Estes Park) or visiting the many craft beer breweries within an hour's or so drive. We all had a fantastic time and a memorable vacation.

Owner response: We’re glad the house was a wonderful family get together spot. Many families have enjoyed the cleanliness, comfort, and spectacular views. We strive to give each guest a 5-star vacation. We don’t mention air conditioning because not a lot of air conditioning is used at such high elevation. Estes Park has had one of the hottest summers on record and broke many daily records. This is the only time the mention of air conditioning has come up and we apologize for any discomfort. During normal summers, the many windows and calm mountain breezes keep the house nice and cool and allow you to hear the varied sounds of nature. We describe the house with 5½ bathrooms because we think of a bathroom as a tub or shower, a toilet, and a sink. That’s why we use 5½ on the property information sheet we send to all who inquire about renting. Sorry for the misunderstanding. We hope you’ll remember your fantastic time and the memorable vacation. Welcome back and come again if you’re in Estes Park!

We arranged a family reunion at the house mid July 2012 for four nights with members coming from all over the country. The home had the perfect number of rooms for all 11 of us, a deck for grilling, awning if we needed to get out of the sun, great kitchen, a fabulous internet connection and lots of space for everyone to do their own thing. The kitchen was well stocked with most every utensil we would need. Everything was spotless, the towels thick and owner very helpful in attending to whatever we needed. A huge bowl of fruit was provided for us when we arrived. The small store nearby in Glenhaven has cinnamon bread that's out of this world. For those interested in hiking, the trail up to Crosier Mtn is about a 1/2 mile from the house. Estes is a short 15 minute drive (and the entrance to Rocky Mtn National Park) and about 8 minutes from the house toward Estes, you can get cell phone coverage. We elected to cook and eat at the house rather than drive to Estes to eat out. The location is nice as it's very peaceful and private even though other houses can be seen. We saw the bear twice (at a distance) and a falling star one evening. I would return in a heartbeat.

The answers to the questions in the review tips and guidelines are all positive. The National Park was the big draw. Our party included family from both coasts and north and south, teens to octogenerians, and people with diverse interests. We all felt like the chalet reached out to us with welcoming arms and folded us into family space. The place was so well provisioned and so welcoming that I felt like I had just swapped homes for our stay. The isolation was grand! The owners seemed to have thought through every detail that their guests might anticipate. Thanks! We'll come back!

A beautiful home with beautiful views! It was immaculately clean as well. I love taking pictures in Colorado and had plenty of opportunities. We saw bears on at least 4 or 5 different days. One morning, one strolled across the driveway as I was on the balcony! I got a picture of another bear down a ways crossing a wooden bridge! We saw deer and plenty of birds. Riding into town we saw elk, coyote, deer, and even a small fox. I also got to photograph a mother owl and her two babies in Rocky Mountain National Park. The Big Horn Sheep were out too with their babies as well. The pleasure of returning to such a beautiful home was the icing on the cake! We very highly recommend this as a wonderful vacation spot! Sincerely, Tracy McNeely

House was at least as nice as expected. Beautiful surroundings. Very clean. Owner was exceptionally gracious and we were most pleased to find it was well stocked with cooking utensils, condiments, and other kitchen needs. All we had to bring was our food. Bedrooms and baths were immaculate. We plan to rent next year.

My extended family booked a stay in early August. The home is so spacious you will have trouble finding each other. There were 11 of us but it could have accommodated a few more. We spent most of our time on the deck, as the weather was perfect and the views divine. The photos are very accurate. Every room has a view and all or most have a balcony. The appliances were all new...I wish I could take the laundry room home with me! There are two kitchens which came in handy when cooking for a crowd. The home is about a half hour from Estes Park, which is a downside when you are driving to Rocky Mountain National Park or the grocery store, but an upside when you are seeking quiet and privacy. There are quite a few nice hikes a short drive from the house. One is the steep rocky climb up to pretty Gem Lake. For an easier stroll go to the Dunraven Trailhead and when you get to the river turn right.

Our family of 13 had a great time. We had a four year old, teenagers and the adults. We found the listing to be accurate. We were not disappointed! The owner is careful to make sure everything is OK. The house and grounds were clean and neat. The WiFi works fine but cell phones don't work at all. There is a house phone that can be used. We had a good time visiting the area and playing games at night. There are plenty of TVs but they were seldom used because the kids wanted to play games at night. We spent one day in Estes park and one day driving through Rocky Mountain National Park. We saw lots of big elk and snow up above the timberline. We had a picnic on the western side of the park. In Estes Park there are plenty of places to entertain the little ones while the shoppers check for bargains. We enjoyed hiking the trails and just sitting on the deck. We had one die-hard fisherman who enjoyed catching and releasing the native trout from the stream near the house. Four of our group enjoyed riding horses one afternoon. We took two of our 4wheelers and used them a couple of days but it was to far to get to the trails. We would not take them again. It was unusually warm in the afternoon but it cooled off at night and one day we had a nice shower. We saw the deer and saw bear three times. Nice place to stay and lots to do! A great family place.

Enjoyed our stay with nice accomodations for our group of 14. Seeing wildlife out the kitchen window was an added plus. The deer came down to feed early morning and in the evening and we saw a young black bear on the last day of our stay.

About the owner: Our family works together and vacations together. We own a home health, hospice, and private pay health care agency that serves central Oklahoma. We're also a 3rd generation farm and ranch family raising registered Angus cattle. We all love open spaces, mountains and wildlife. Rick and Billie

Why the Owner Chose Estes Park:
Estes Park has been a favorite vacation destination for our family that includes 9 grandchildren. We've visited during all seasons and have always had plenty for everyone to enjoy. The wildlife in the Park is incredible but when we saw the wildlife on this property, we decided to enjoy our own private wildlife viewing area. The best thing about our location is our location! It's close to town, too. Come, relax. Be amazed. Rick and Billie
