5 Bdrm Country Home on 8 Acres, Riverfront, Convenient Location
- Minimum stay:Contact owner
- Internet:Yes
- Pets allowed:No
- Wheel chair accessible:Yes
This large 5 bedroom country home is situated right on the Stillwater River in the Flathead Valley and is accessed through its own private gate. The property has over 2,000 feet of river frontage on 8 acres and is located at the very end of a private dirt road. The Stillwater River wraps around this piece and creates a very unique peninsula which offers a private and peaceful setting. The property has plenty of trees, meadows and fenced pasture for horses, along with the river winding through on 3 sides. The Stillwater River is a slow moving river, very peaceful and is an attraction to a lot of wildlife in the area.
The deck encompasses quite a view of the river! The river creates a special mood on the property, it has a calming effect on one's soul. It speaks of nature, the simple joys of life and a constant reminder of what is real in life. I will also be leaving a few horses out in the pastures to graze and I have to say, I never get tired of watching them. The horses, the river, the setting it all creates is just plain nice.
The double doors from the living area of the house lead right out on to the deck which offers comfortable seating arrangements. The kitchen offers all stainless steel appliances along with granite counter tops, a 5 burner gas stove and a built in deep fryer for the cooking enthusiasts. It also has a detached coffee bar with a commercial Bunn coffeemaker and an additional sink. The dining table can seat 10 comfortably with 2 additional chairs for 12. There are also 2 log stools for additional seating at the breakfast bar.
The 5 bedrooms offer Montana made rustic log beds and consist of:
1 King bedroom/bed upstairs w/ attached full bath
2 Dbl. bedrooms/beds upstairs w/ full bath adjacent
1 King bedroom/bed on main level w/ attached full bath
1 Queen bedroom/bed downstairs 3/4 bath adjacent
There is also a queen hide-a-bed in the TV room and a
single twin mattress that can be pulled out for use.
Pac-n-plays are available.
The TV room offers a 60” TV, DVD player, Dish satellite channels and Netflix. There is a large laundry room for your use with all supplies provided, ample room for parking and a large circular driveway for any trailers or motor homes that come through. This would make a very nice location for a family gathering. I also manage my brother's vacation home, vrbo # 352040, which is 2 minutes away and when you combine the two homes, it is a great place for a family gathering, sleeping a combination of 20+ people.
We are located about 20 minutes from Glacier International Airport and right between Kalispell and Whitefish, 12 miles in either direction. Big Mountain is just 10 minutes outside of Whitefish and offers many hiking/nature trails. Glacier National Park (west entrance) is approx. 34 miles from here.
We are quite conveniently located, right in the center of the Valley, here in the rural Whitefish area.
Major Attractions within a 45 minute drive:
There are many lakes to recreate at: Whitefish Lake, Tally Lake, and Flathead Lake - all within 30 minutes. Tally Lake (which is off the beaten track) is a beautiful pristine mountain lake which is rarely crowded. It has a family atmosphere with swimming, hiking, wildlife viewing, lake and stream fishing, established fire pits, restrooms, a grassy beach area and campsites.
Glacier National Park - West Entrance
Big Mountain - zip line tours, alpine slide, scenic gondola rides, nature hikes, bike trails, mountain village.
Whitewater River Rafting Trips
Majestic Valley Arena, a multi-event center, which offers rodeos, motor cross events, car shows, and a variety of equestrian events.
Farmers' Markets - locally grown foods, local crafts, music.
Rebecca Farm puts on an annual international equestrian event in July of each year.
Bar W Ranch offers guided horseback riding for the day with experienced wranglers.
Shopping: Costco, Ross, TJ Max, Bed Bath and Beyond and other major retailers and restaurants is about 12 minutes away.
There are plenty of hiking trails, mountain bike trails and scenic paths in and around the Valley. Ask for details.
I have a caterer named Suzanne who is available if any groups would like to have some meals cooked for them here at the house. She is local and is a very diversified wonderful cook! She is separate and independent from the vacation rental.
There is a lot to experience out here in Big Sky Country and we would like to introduce you to just a little piece of heaven.
Keywords: Waterfront, large country house, end of the road privacy but very conveniently located with 2,000+ feet of river frontage.
Sleeps up to 20-24 when combined with
VRBO # 352040, which is adjacent to this home.

Place was everything that we heard it would be..Place was very secluded and quiet..Th e kitchen was well stocked and the folks who took turns cooking were impressed with the equipment..All in all it was a superb experience..Notice that we left a chair in our bedroom. Might consider placing one in there.Thanx for being such a terrific host....Recommended for: Romantic getaway, girls getaway, adventure seekers, families with teenagers, tourists without a car, age 55+, sightseeing, families with young children, people with disabilities.

My husband and I had the pleasure of staying at this Whitefish home with three other couples, celebrating my husband's 40th birthday. We have rented other homes in the past and this home was by far the cleanest and most well stocked. Convenient location, close to every activity we wanted to partake in: hiking in Glacier, zip lining, rafting, and fishing. We greatly enjoyed evenings on the deck, grilling out with our friends. Jennie and Dan simply could not be more pleasant and helpful. They recommended the sweetest young ladies to babysit our children, on top of securing pack and plays and high chairs for them, We felt more like family friends than renters. Just a wonderful, wonderful experience!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, families with young children.

Pictures and written testimonials can only touch on the fun and enjoyment of the property and area around it. It has everything a vacation demands and the owners go the extra mile to ensure your stay is an exceptional one. The property is well stocked for every event (life jackets, tubes for floating down river, fishing equiptment...ect). I highly recommend the property and we will be going back in the near future.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, adventure seekers, families with teenagers, families with young children.

We enjoyed every minute of my husband's retirement vacation with our children and grandchildren at your vacation rental home. What a picturesque setting with the river surrounding the perfectly manicured property. Our sons and grandsons enjoyed canoeing, walks around the property and fishing. Our eight-year old granddaughter adored Levi and Toby (the horses) and now looks forward to riding lessons this Fall! Thank you so much for sharing your beautiful home with us. We would love to have stayed longer.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, adventure seekers, families with teenagers, age 55+, sightseeing, families with young children.

A dream vacation... what more can I say. Montana is one of the most beautiful states in the US, and this rental home allowed my family to fully enjoy its beauty. We spent many mornings and evenings on the porch watching the deer run and the fish jump in the river below. It was also a perfect place to allow my one year old to run around. The house was extremely spacious and very well stocked. We had a large family, 9 adults and one toddler, so the two living spaces and the fully equipped kitchen was fantastic. The location of the rental property was smack inbetween Whitefish and Kalispell and only about 35 minutes from Glacier National Park. Working with Jennie was also a dream. I've used rental homes in the past and I have never had such an accommodating and helpful owner. I would highly recommend this property!!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

My family of 12 spent seven marvelous days at this Stillwater River vacation home. This wonderful and fantastic vacation home was all that was indicated on VRBO and more. What wasn't covered in VRBO was the beauty of it's location, all of the many niceties that were provided with the home and the wonderful owner (Jennie O'Neil) who was always available and made sure that we were happy with everything. The home was clean to perfection, the furnishing were not just ordinary but premium in quality and all the needs of our vacationing group were met. We had brochures and information on every possible activity in the Flathead Valley and Glacier National Park. We were spoiled far beyond our expectations. We hiked and rode horses in Glacier. We took pictures of bighorn mountain sheep and deer. We fished in Flathead Lake and took the gondola to the top of Big Mountain. We also enjoyed Lake Whitefish and the lodge on the lake. What a vacation!!! I highly recommend this home to my relatives, my friends and to anyone looking for something unique and very special. Hopefully,we can return one day to Montana and to this beautiful home on the Stillwater River.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, girls getaway, adventure seekers, families with teenagers, age 55+, sightseeing, families with young children, people with disabilities.

What a delightfull experience. Deck with comfortable furniture and a soothing view. Horses which are fenced in and all of us enjoyed. We were about 35 minutes from the West gate of Glacier National park. We were 15 minutes from Whitefish and the Big Mountain has all kinds of fun activtes to do. The owner of the house is Jenny who is most helpful. The property was kept up very well and her flowers in the yard were so pretty. I would recommend this rental to anyone.Recommended for: Pet owners, families with teenagers, age 55+, sightseeing.

This home was perfect. Large, spacious, comfortable and well stocked with staples. Sitting on the deck in the cool morning air while drinking a cup of coffee was a major treat for this Florida girl! - It gives a chance to see wildlife - and enjoy the beautiful horses on the property. The proximity to Whitefish and Kallispell is no problem at all. I would highly recommend this home to anyone that asked!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, families with teenagers, sightseeing.

Owner info
Year Purchased: 2004
About the owner: Dan and Jen O'Neill - Owners and Managers. We have lived out in the country for over 20 years, we are in our fifties now. Danny is originally from Ireland and myself, Seattle, WA. We both love the outdoor life. I enjoy horseback riding on the country trails and Danny is an avid fisherman. We have lived in the Flathead Valley for 11 years now. We are offering this vacation rental with the hopes that you can and will make yourselves at home here while you experience the beautiful Flathead Valley in Montana.
Why the Owner Chose Private Homes:
We purchased this property for it was one of the most unique settings we found in the Flathead Valley being that the Stillwater River has such a special influence as it winds around the property. We are private but still very conveniently located; 10-15 minutes from town.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
Enjoying the river, wildlife/bird viewing, the horses grazing and just the perfect amount of privacy down our little dirt road. There is no traffic here at the end of our road and no immediate
neighbors to disturb. But yet, town is only 10-15 minutes away.
