Bike to world famous Venice Beach from this charming 2 Bedroom Mediterranean cottage surrounded by Monet gardens. The front yard is made private by flowering trees and flowers. We wish to make your trip to Venice wonderful and have tried to think of everything that will guarantee it to be so.
The cottage has all newly refinished hardwood floors except for Saltillo tiles in the kitchen and bathroom. The spacious kitchen overlooks a large pergola-ed patio shaded by flowering trumpet vines and jasmine. If you like to cook, the kitchen is outfitted with a restored O'Keefe and Merritt vintage stove complete with pancake griddle. The newly renovated kitchen has butcher block counter tops with craftsman style cabinetry, and a new dishwasher. You can dine either in the formal dining room, or after BBQing, on the patio lit with magical lights.
The sunken master bedroom has blue pergola floors. You can keep extra cozy with the cast-iron/brass wood-burning stove. The wooden sliding glass doors open onto rose gardens. The second bedroom has a queen bed.
The large flat screen television is equipped with 100s of cable stations including the premium channels, Showtime and HBO. Wifi is throughout the house for your computer access to the internet. For your convenience, there is a full-sized washer/dryer.
Though located on a quiet residential street, you have easy public transit access to everywhere. On our new beach cruisers, we are 10 minutes to famous Venice Beach by bike or car; 10 minutes to Marina del Rey; 5 minutes to Abbot Kinney Blvd. with its fabulous shopping and restaurants. We had a marvelous time at your lovely home. We left about 11:15. Hope everything was left the way you like it. I would recommend your place to all my friends. In fact, I would enjoy coming back myself in the future. And the mattress on the bed in the middle room was so great that I would like to buy one for my home. Could you give me some information about the firmness? Thanks again for being so friendly and warm and sharing your home.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

We enjoyed using the Tuscan Garden Cottage as our base for the holiday we had in L.A. So cozy and bright, very convenient to beach and freeways to get around to places we needed to go. Loved the stove to cook Christmas dinner and evening meals. Thanks so much for sharingDid you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Thank you for a delightful stay. We found the house charming, very comfortable and very good value. The kitchen is better equipped than my kitchen at home, and I loved cooking on the vintage stove; sometimes I think they did build things better in times past. The neighborhood felt safe and friendly. We enjoyed walking round Venice and Marina del Rey, and it was only 20 minutes by car from our daughter in Cheviot Hills. We would highly recommend you to anyone wanting a home-away-from-home-experience in the LA area. Our grandson is of course the most adorable baby ever, and he and his parents are doing well. I attach a picture taken after his first stroller outing, when he was six days old. With very kind regards and wishing you many more successful rentals,Did you find this review helpful? Lemonade View on map
Fantastic French country style entrees, salads and desserts served cafeteria style. Coq au vin, braised short ribs, a mind numbing selection of delicious and innovative salads. Two can eat very well for under $25. We really like to split the pot roast sandwich with lemon greens. Try the peach-ginger lemonade!

About the owner: Michael and I are artists...Michael is a painter and you will find much of his work on the walls of the house. I am a writer...We have lived in this area of Venice for almost 20 years, and we love it. I have become so enamored with Venice and its history, I am working on Destiny's Consent, a quartet of books taking place in Venice from the years 1918 to 1970. We love to bike around Venice (I think it's the best way to experience the area) and we are big beach enthusiasts. (we'll tell you about the best places to go in Southern California for body surfing and snorkeling)
Why the Owner Chose Venice Beach:
We love the idiosyncratic nature of Venice and have lived in the house and in the studio for over 15 years, That being said, we love the location of our house -- there is easy access to the beach (Michael and I are beach fanatics and if you ask for beach suggestions, we will gladly supply them), but we can get out of the area when we want to.
Many people don't realize how busy Venice is--Venice Beach is the 2nd biggest attraction after Disneyland, and can be very difficult to navigate, both in terms of LA traffic, but also in terms of parking. From the end of our street, you can hop on the bus to the beach, and leave the driving to them. Or we love the 10 minute ride on our bikes down to one of two beaches. As we have begun retirement, it has been our pleasure to provide a home to so those visiting Venice, and we so enjoy meeting people from around the world and the United States.
The Unique Benefits at this Cottage:
Among real estate agents, Glyndon Avenue has been nicknamed, 'million dollar Glyndon Avenue', and while this nomenclature makes Michael and I laugh, we also understand it. While movie stars have lived on this street, more importantly for Michael and I, this is a neighborhood, where people walk their dogs and their children around the block every evening, and if we're working in the garden, we get to catch up on all of the neighborhood news. This is a very safe area of Venice--since we have lived here there has not been a break-in or robbery.
For us, the best part of this area, is that from our location we have all the convenience of the beach as well as Abbot Kinney Blvd., readily accessible with our bikes, but without the beach traffic. While Venice Beach Boardwalk is fascinating to stroll, it is the 2nd biggest attraction after Disneyland, and becomes jammed in the summer and during weekends. This is not only because of tourists, but because our fellow Angelinos come here as well to cool off. Meanwhile, the temperatures in Venice remain cool, especially at night.
Our neighborhood is amazingly easy to access to the rest of Los Angeles with all of its incredible places: Malibu, Hollywood, LACMA and the Getty Museum. But also the fantastic shops and restaurants of Abbot Kinney, as well as the Rose Cafe for breakfast
Right behind us, is a shopping center with an Albertson's and a Costco. Also Starbuck's and In-and-out-Burger. Or for affordable organics, a mile away down Lincoln Blvd. is Whole Foods. Gelson's is a mile away in the other direction.
