We have been going to the Oregon Coast for the last 16 years. We started in Brookings, moved to Gold Beach, and went many years to Bandon. This year we decided to try Newport, mostly because we found this great rental. We had such a good time. The house was amazing, the views were terrific. We will definately come back here. Thank you for sharing your beautiful home.

Our stay at Spirit of the Sea was great. Large comfortable house with beautiful Views. The kitchen had everything we needed and the beds were really comfy. We had 4 adults and 4 kids and did not even need the lower level. Great comfortable house.

We just returned from a wonderful stay at Spirit Of The Sea. Our party consisted of six adults, three teenagers, one child and two dogs. We had so much room and didn't feel crowded at all even when we were all there at one time. We loved being able to cook most of our meals and all ate together at the large dining table. The view is spectacular. I wish you could have heard all of the exclamations as we drove up to the house. The beach is wonderful and so private. We had a hard time getting the grandkids out of the water to do anything else. We all enjoyed Newport, the aquarium, the lighthouse, and we even spent a couple of hours at the Coast Guard station. They give wonderful free tours and we were able to go aboard one of the boats. The home was stocked with everything we needed and we loved the master bedroom where we could sit and read or just look out over the ocean. The deck is wonderful and we enjoyed having a barbeque and just sitting, visiting and enjoying the view. You will love this home and the owners were so helpful while we were making plans for this trip. We can't wait until we are able to return to Spirit Of The Sea. Thank you so very much.

We were looking for a place where we could bring our dogs and big enough to hold our extended family as we celebrated our son's 27th and my mother-in- law's 80th birthdays. We were drawn to Spirit of the Sea by descriptions of previous renters. But it was more than we hoped for!! When we arrived, we were immediately struck by the incredible view! Just amazing! Huge windows on the main and upper floors facing the ocean. We were right there with the ocean just below the house. The house was very clean, and there was a bottle of wine and chocolate truffles waiting for us when we arrived. The interior on the main floor is spacious, open from the kitchen to the dining area to the livingroom, all one, yet separate. The dining table seats 10 but we were able to squeeze 12 around it the night we had a crab feed after a day of deep sea fishing. This home is just far enough on the outskirts of town that there were few people on the beach, mostly from the neighboring houses on one side; very private. There are small pines above the beach, and surrounding one side, and a hammock among them where I read my book and listened to the birds singing in the trees. There was even a nesting pair of bald eagles in the trees on a neighboring bluff. We watched them through binoculars from the wrap-around porch. There is so much to do in the Newport area also. The owners were helpful in recommending area fishing companies ahead of time ,so we could choose one and make reservations for those that wanted to go, before we arrived. Loved it. All of us caught our limits and we brought home enough dungeness crabs to have a crab feed that night. We spent an afternoon at the Newport Aquarium (I highly recommend this), toured the Rogue Brewery where the birthday folks got free beer and t-shirts, visited shops in Nye Beach the historic harbor area, and ate lunch at a few good restaurants. We even visited Agate Beach north of Newport to see the tsunami dock from Japan. But most of all we liked spending time at the house, listening to the surf while soaking in the hot tub, walking the beach below collecting agates; and where there was enough room that those that needed a break from family or to take a nap could find a quiet place, while the rest of us played games around the table or shared stories in the open main floor while preparing meals or just sitting around. We never felt crowded. It was quiet and peaceful. We would like to come back again. Thanks for a great experience.

Situated approx 35'above the beach, unobstructed view to the west and south, nearly so to the north, except for a few weathered pines which add to the sense of it all. Active Bald Eagle action, full-rich surf sounds . Turn off the house lights and the stars are everywhere (if the microclimate cooperates which it did for 2 of 3 nights) Fully satisfied with the online description..even more so. Everything is provided, however, remember to bring some extra towels if you have serious hot-tubbers in your party. ( or use the washer/dryer in the attached garage to renew the towel supply ). Books, puzzles, telescope, binoculars are all there. ( The Glow In The Dark Dragon puzzle has ALL of the pieces and it does glow) The owners are obviously dedicated to providing the best experience. There is even a Christmas tree stand in the garage when the time is right. Too Easy! Definitely a keeper.

Our party of 7 - two adults and five energetic teenagers - stayed here for three nights in November 2011. The sea was stormy but the house was great, and we enjoyed watching the 80 mph winds through the beautiful windows as a fire burned in the fireplace. The house is beautifully situated at the end of town - close enough to quickly get to restaurants, the aquarium, the glass factory (they give classes!), lighthouses, the old bayfront, etc., but remote enough for quiet beaches (when it isn't storming). There was plenty of room for all of us, and I enjoyed working in the well equipped kitchen. We accidentally locked the key in the house when we left, and Jeff was gracious and good to communicate with. We would definitely recommend the house to large groups, and can't wait to go back (in calmer weather!).

Owner response: Thanks, Lea! Love the fact that you appreciated the house and location even during one of the famous (but not frequent) Pacific storms. We do hope you come back, and when you do we'll have a new kitchen floor and a renovated bathroom.

This house was ideal for our family gathering - easy access to the main floor, privacy for the kids/young adults downstairs, and amazing views! Loved being able to lay in bed and watch the waves roll in - even better at night with the full moon! The owners were very helpful and answered all of my many emails. We hope to come back to Spirit of the Sea next summer!

We enjoyed the privacy, the great view, and the large dining table for eating and game playing. The owners were VERY easy to work with and returned the security deposit promptly. The hot tub has no roof but we didn't let that stop our enjoyment even though we had some rain while there. The steps down to the beach were fine for most of our group but not my 81 year old mother. My husband and I loved the master bedroom and the view from the windows. We appreciated that the bulk of the house (kitchen, living room, two bedrooms, one bath, dining room) are all on the main walk in level. This made it a house my mother could come to and stay at and still offered her a good view of the beach and sea. This room arrangement also made it nice for the younger family (granddaughter, husband, and two boys) to occupy the large family room downstairs and my mother to sleep comfortably in her main floor bedroom. A few minor repairs need to be made to the house but over all the house is a pleasure to stay at.

We spent a week at Spirit of the Sea and we could have spent much more time. We had a group of 10 people, three of which were children. There was so much for them to see and do. The House is large enough we never felt like we were on top of eachother. The basement worked perfectly for the children. The hot tub was a fantistic addition as was they easy beach access. We felt as though we had a private beach which is very unusual in this area. I would go back in a heartbeat. Thanks!

We were thrilled upon arrival and it only got better! The location and views were amazing, the home spacious and well-appointed. The beach access was easy and deserted two of the three days we were visiting. The weather cooperated and we were able to BBQ, dine and enjoy the hottub in the privacy afforded by this home. The serenity and absolute beauty we found on our retreat will definitely have us returning again and again.

We spent the weekend here for my 30th birthday and had a wonderful time. The house has amazing ocean front views, especially from the master bedroom on the top level. We had a total of 14 people and there was plenty of space for everyone. The furniture and beds were very comfortable and the house was equipped with everything we needed. We loved having a hot tub, ping-pong table, and plenty of board games to keep us occupied. I really liked the fact of how secluded the property felt. There are a few neighbors, but we felt like we were the only people around for miles.

Thanks you so much for letting our family stay at this unbelievable beach house! You can't beat waking up every morning to a spectacular view of the Pacific Ocean in a spacious, comfortable, well-appointed home. The beach is just steps away and we only saw a handful of other people on it the whole time we were there. We loved our stay at “Spirit of the Sea”. The beds where so comfortable and there was enough space for 10 of us, could have easily had more really. The kids room was fun with the bunks and many games and puzzles. The location was absolutely perfect and the beach access could not have been better! It really felt like we were on a remote, private beach yet we were only a couple of minutes from downtown Newport and all of the attractions it has to offer. We were welcomed with a very clean house, chocolates and a lovely bottle of wine. The kitchen was well equipped, as well as many other household items available to make our stay there pleasant and comfortable. Plenty of towels... which was handy with many children. The hot tub is a must, and well worth the fee to know it was cleaned before and after. The view from the house was spectacular... even saw some whales. We would definitely recommend this property to anyone looking for a relaxing vacation in a beautiful setting. We look forward to returning soon.

My wife and I stayed here at the end of September and the weather was beautiful. The house is very clean, incredibly bright with sunlight, and the beds provide great rest. We loved cooking in the lovely kitchen overlooking the sea. The dining at the table is romantic and ideal as we watched the sunset each night. Lunches were on the deck unless we were out on one of the many hikes we took at nearby sights (all within 30-45 minutes). There is a lighthouse, Newport is a darling town to shop and eat, Seal Rock is spectacular, and we took a hike to some incredibl falls in the forest at Drift Creek. Evenings were spent luxuriating in front of the hearty fireplace -- followed by a soak under the stars, to the sound of the surf, in the hot tub! We shall be back!!. The Owners were great to work with -- very helpful. Everything works too!

My wife and I had a marvellous and thoroughly relaxing stay at this vacation home in Newport. It overlooks the Pacific, the beach being just a few yards away. The view of the ocean from the master bedroom on the second floor is unobstructed and breathtaking, while a few trees shade the view from the rooms on the first floor. It is a most comfortable and spacious house, which can easily accommodate large families and groups. It is well-appointed and maintained with all the amenities and facilities of a modern dwelling. We were fortunate with weather. That together with the beauty of the house and its location in a very quiet area made for a truly memorable holiday. We would happily go back and recommend it most highly for others. Joseph

Spirit of the Sea is the perfect choice for a relaxing vacation. It's secluded and quiet without being isolated, spacious and open but still cozy, and the view is absolutely stunning. I stayed here with some friends in mid-August and we had an amazing time catching crabs on the pier, touring the Rogue brewery, barbecuing on the deck and huddling around bonfires at the beach. The house was clean and slept seven people (and two dogs) with beds to spare. We were often the only ones on the beach, the kitchen was perfect for cooking and grilling, and the wrap-around deck offered a great view with my morning coffee. My absolute favorite amenity was the hammock situated beneath a canopy of trees and overlooking the beach. I will definitely be staying here again in the future and have already recommended it to friends and family.

Coastal Oregon is one of the most magical, beautiful places I have ever been. I love its rugged cliffs dotted with wind-blown lighthouses, and the smell of pine forest mingled with salty sea air. South Beach and Newport are such quaint fishing towns, with surprisingly good beer (Rogue Brewery is located in Newport- take a tour!) and warm, friendly locals. I vacationed in Newport twice in the past four years, and have stayed at Spirit of the Sea both times. I can't think of a more perfect house to compliment a relaxing, but active vacation. The home itself is very cozy and comfortable, with really glorious windows facing the sea, a nice big kitchen, and plenty of bedrooms. It's a great road trip destination for a big group of friends, or for a multi-family vacation. There are bunk beds downstairs for kids, and large bedrooms upstairs for parents. Indoor and outdoor dining tables, and a huge outdoor deck provide plenty of room for everyone at meal times. What really keeps me coming back to Spirit of the Sea is its easy beach access, and the amazing hammock and hot tub area. A short flight of steps separates the house from the beach, so I can go for a run along the ocean, and then literally run right up the stairs into the hammock, or hop in the hot tub for a warm soak. There's nothing like a week of reading, fishing, running, eating, and drinking in the company of great friends to put everything right in the world. Hope you enjoy this place as much as I do!
