Cottage with Lake Michigan frontage, acres of wooded area with home on large grassy well-maintained yard, fire pit, patio with tables/grill, two large decks. There are about 30 steps down to the beach, approx 100 feet from shore - all private, sandy beach waiting just for your family or romantic secluded getaway. Enjoy a beach fire with beautiful sunsets, miles of beach to stroll to the north or south of the cottage. Located on Scenic Drive north of Muskegon Lake, south of White Lake. 2 hours north of Michigan/Indiana state line.
Amenities: Large kitchen area with slate floor, snack bar area and dining room adjacent. Kitchen and bath areas updated, glass top stove/oven, dishwasher, refrigerator/freezer, microwave oven, laundry off kitchen. Charcoal grill available. Ceiling fans in dining area and master bedroom. Gas furnace and electric baseboard heaters for cooler summer evenings. Large picture window from living room overlooking lake, TV/VCR available. Tiled bathrooms, dining/living and carpeted bedrooms. Linens and towels provided, kitchen fully equipped.
Activities: State parks nearby with numerous hiking trails, Muskegon State Park; Blockhouse, channel walk, fishing, boating. Miles of sandy beach for walking, swimming, large outdoor fire pit for campfires, biking.

We were looking for a private, relaxing place where we could just enjoy the beach, lake, woods - perhaps some festivities in the surrounding area. We did not want to leave all weekend! We kept the fire going in the firepit for four days and nights, it was a little cool so the fire was perfect. During the day, the sun at the deck was found to be a perfect napping location in the breeze and sun. Inside the cottage was cozy, warm and well equipped for any cooking (group of six ladies!) It was raining lightly when we arrived, no matter, we sat out by the fire anyway. Going back again in 2013, same group of escapees from work.Did you find this review helpful? Perfect stay, highly recommend this location. We arrived and met the owner, toured the cottage and property and were given information about the area and home. The kitchen was perfectly stocked, the bedrooms and bath clean and fresh linens and towels provided for all of us. With the extremely warm weather it was the nice breezes off the lake we enjoyed, had the option of the firepit or grill to cook outside. Everything was clean and appeared well maintained, even the lawn was beautiful. We were looking for privacy and a quiet setting for much needed relaxation and we found it. We arrived at the Cottage and were blown away by the views. The setting and beach were great. The house on the other hand was another story. The plumbing backed up while we were showering and feces from the septic system was floating around in the shower while we were still using it. Not something I've ever experienced or thought would happen while paying a premium for a vacation rental. We were also charged a cleaning fee and told a cleaning person had come just the day before. This was not true as the floors were not swept, corners of rooms had cobwebs and bathroom cupboards contained mice feces as well. Some honesty about the houses septic system and condition would have been great. We didn't expect to be lied too and charged for a service that was not performed. We unfortunately do not recommend this cottage to Rent. Jeff R.Owner response: As of January 1, 2013, two new septic tanks have been installed and tree roots removed from the surrounding area. Recent guests have indicated everything is working great. July 2012 response: Extremely unfortunate and avoidable. We caution all our guests to not flush sanitary items nor place drippings and food items in the sink drain as the septic system cannot handle these items. Issues can arise following one guests departure and anothers arrival. Had a phone call be received the problem would have been taken care of immediately, however notice was received days later. We are certain this was not the fault of the guests staying at the time. The cleaning fee is part of the rental and not an additional charge, however a guideline. Due to the unfortunate incident during their stay, the guests have been issued a refund accordingly and correspondence sent directly to them.
