Nestled in the woods looking up at Camels Hump is our cozy little cabin. A perfect getaway spot with unsurpassed views of the mountain. Camels Hump is Vermont's highest peak that is not developed by a ski area. It's all wilderness.

Feels like you’re a million miles away but it’s only a 15 minute drive from town and 4 major ski areas areas, Stowe, Sugarbush, Mad River and Bolton Valley are about 1/2 half hour away.

Camels Hump trail head is right down the road for access to awesome hiking, backcountry and XC skiing. Very rustic but with all the amenities.

It’s really not so little - about 1800 sq ft. with 2 bedrooms, large living room with massive fieldstone fireplace, spacious kitchen and well appointed bath and a toasty woodstove.

The upstairs master bedroom is huge with a king bed and large sitting area and frenchdoors leading to a small balcony.

The downstairs bedroom is large also and has a double bed and a twin. Amenities include washer/dryer, propane heat, all cookware and linens.

Although the roads are very well maintained 4 wheel drive is recommended in winter months or mud season.

I had the privilege of staying at the Camels Humb Cabin for ten nights, and I only wish I never had to leave and come back to work! The cabin far exceeded my expectations. Before entering inside, you hear the sounds of a roaring river while having a spectacular view of Camels Hump. The cabin has an open floor plan and utilized all of the space very well. There is wi-fi, a stereo with nice speakers and a blu-ray tv in the main bedroom (which is HUGE). The fireplace is enormous and the wood is plentiful. The kitchen is loaded with every amenity one might need, from measuring cups to coffee mugs. The cabin also has all one might need for a comfortable stay. Everything at the cabin was very clean. What made the experience even better was the owner's willingness to assist in anyway to make the stay more enjoyable. John lent me a snow brush, snow shoes and made sure that I had plenty of firewood. He also took me to the cabin upon my arrival to show me around and explain everything to me. The trip to the cabin is about 7 miles from the main road in Waterbury, but it is a peaceful scenic trip getting one closer to the entry to Camels Hump hiking trail! From the cabin, you can easily access plenty of hiking trails and the local ski mountains. If you prefer to stay in town, John runs the Old Stagecoach Inn which looks like it would be a fantastic place to stay. Overall, I really cannot think of a single thing which would have made the stay any better. I highly recommend this property and look forward to visiting again.

This cabin is beautiful!! Description and amenities were spot on! The cabin was clean and well maintained and all set for us when we arrived - including the fireplace set and ready - all we had to do was light it when we were ready! John couldn't have been more helpful - even leading us to the cabin the first day. It was the perfect Thanksgiving vacation! I cannot wait to come back, and in fact I've already discussed a "girls get-away" with my sisters. I know they'll love it as much as I did. If you are looking for an out of the way, relaxing place to stay, this is it! I know we'll be back again and again!

We had a wonderful stay at the Camel's Hump cabin. I was a little nervous about the location, four wheel drive was recommended, and would definitely be needed if there was snow on the ground, as there is about 15 min of driving on dirt roads. We had no problem though. We met Erol at the inn and we followed him to the cabin where he showed us around. The cabin feels like it has been there a while but is pretty much modern inside. It is very spacious as well. We loved the fireplace and all the wood, and spent a lot of time reading in front of the fire. The house is so private, my idea of a VT vacation! Overall, I would recommend this cabin and would return there in future trips.

We stayed at the cabin for one week in February. We were very happy with the house. It was very comfortable and had a beautiful view of Camels Hump. We were able to cook meals and also visited excellent restaurants in Waterbury. We skied at Stowe, Bolton Valley, Sugarbush, and snowshoed at the Von Tramp Area. The owner, John, couldn't have been nicer. He shared his knowledge of the house and the area and also gave us discount coupons to some of the ski areas. Wonderful master bedroom, washer and dryer, beautiful fireplace, and well stocked kitchen. We highly recommend this and would love to come back.

Great people to 'work' with, fantastic views. 15 minutes from town can seem like a lifetime until you feel the seclusion of the cabin feel. Went up with another family and it worked out wonderfully. Pet Friendly. I can't wait to return!

Camels Hump is only about 8 miles from Downtown Waterbury (Which has some nice restaurants and bars) and about 30 minutes from Stowe, Sugarbush, and Mad River. The cabin has extraordinary views of Camels Hump, is extremely peacefull and relaxing. The kitchen is well appointed, the cabin extraordinarily clean and there is a lovely firplace. The owner was both friendly and helpful. We will absolutely go back for mountain get away.

Outstanding location - wonderful cabin experience - spectacular views - away from it all and in the middle of it at the same time. 15 minutes to town, yet the secluded location makes you feel much farther out . . . 30 minutes to ski resorts or the capital city. Our family enjoyed retreating to the cabin each evening after a day spent skiing and sightseeing. Camel's Hump Cabin has everything you need (well-appointed kitchen, washer/dryer) - we even entertained family at the cabin and had everything we needed to do so. We awoke each morning with only one thing on our minds . . . "what will the mountain look like today?" . . . and then looked out the window to see . . . I would love to keep Camel's Hump Cabin my secret . . . but how unfair to keep this gem to myself.

I am a veteran New England cabin renter (mostly via VRBO) and give a hearty endorsement of the Camels Hump Cabin. Excellent space and hats-off to the owners. The photos and description available on VRBO are accurate. The cabin is well-appointed and very clean. The cut fire-wood is dry and ample for the true ambiance of the Vermont Cabin experience. Of particular note, not easily recognized by the listing: the cabin is very private. There is a dirt road which runs past the cabin, but at peek foliage weekend in October, only several neighbors from up the mountain cruised past. You have elegant and expansive views of the mountain without a single structure in your way or pressing along the property lines. The owner's hospitality is second-to-none. Save me some dates, for I shall return.

                  Year Purchased: 2007

About the owner: John is an Innkeeper - he runs the historic Old Stagecoach Inn right in town. He is an outdoor enthusiast: skiing, fly fishing, mountain biking, canoeing, hiking etc. He can provide a wealth of knowledge about these surroundings.

                  Why the Owner Chose Waterbury:
I had been intrigued by this property for years - the view, the proximity to Camels Hump trailhead and the feeling of seclusion while only being a short drive from town all made the cabin my favorite spot.
