Owner's Profile
Owner Description
Leonard and Jeanne Cain were drawn to New Mexico and southwestern Colorado by the crystal clear skies, aspen and pine forests and rivers with their majestic red rock canyons. After working in rural health care clinics, they moved to the Cortez area where Leonard has retired from a medical practice. Mountain biking, backpacking, hiking, skiing, and fly fishing are a few of their passions. Their many years of zen study are reflected in the open quiet spaces where they have built and the sculptural ceramic and fiber arts they currently pursue. After 35 years of living in the southwest, they are eager to share their enchantment with this retreat setting and rich cultural crossroads of native american life, cattle ranching, and outdoor splendors.

What a stroke of luck we found this wonderful vacation spot! The photos don't do the Casa and the surrounding area justice. It is very clean and well maintained and Jeanne and Leonard have made sure you have everything you could possibly need for a great stay. The location is perfect, centrally located between all the area attractions, and so peaceful and quiet. You must do the trail on the property! We sighted many different birds, mule deer and the spring flowers were blooming on our visit! A definte four star pick!! Do make time to visit the delightful small town of Dolores and enjoy a drive up the lush, green Dolores canyon to the breathtaking vistas of Lizard Head Pass.

The casa cielo met perfectly our expectations for a short vacation week. Perfectly fitted to accommodate a family, the house provides everything making our stay even more comfortable. The location offers a large number of activities at driving minutes. Jeanne and Leonard warm hospitality was exceptional and their knowledge of the area so helpful to find the perfect spot we were looking for our visit. We did enjoy the daily visit of the elks (and deers?), birds as well as the trails in the property and I already recommended the casa cielo to my best friends.

We felt so at home and comfortable here. Had a great nights sleep( the best on our trip) In the morning we saw a coyote out in the field looking for breakfast. Close to many natural attractions and Durango. You will enjoy your stay.

We had an amazing stay at Casa Cielo and thoroughly enjoyed Jeanne and Leonard who are wonderful hosts. The property is perfectly located with fantastic views of Mesa Verde and Sleeping Ute Mountain. Enjoy the on-site mountain bike trail, pizza and beer at Dolores River Brewery, day trips to Telluride and Ouray as well as kayaking in Durango. Casa Cielo is only 20 minutes to the entrance of Mesa Verde National Park. The house is spacious and comfortable and was enthusiastically endorsed by our two teens (especially the Wi-Fi and Annie the dog). We want to thank Jeanne and Leonard for making our stay memorable for our entire family!

We initially booked this house only to save some money on food while on our adventure vacation with teenagers. We certainly weren't disappointed. The owners told us about a market in nearby Delores with amazing local/fresh food. The kitchen had everything we needed, even some spices. The owners made themselves very available and were generous, hospitable, helpful, kind and interesting (in a good way). I could tell they were not stressed by our use of their property. We had the sleeping space we needed for our three teenagers We thoroughly enjoyed the home and surroundings as well. It was restful and comfortable.

My husband and I recently enjoyed more than a week at Casa Cielo, and could not have been more pleased with the property or the location! The house is spacious and well appointed, with the best stocked kitchen I have encountered. It has a spectacular view and the hosts are friendly and helpful when needed. It is centrally located between the lush Alpine forests of Telluride and the high desert of Utah, Arizona and New Mexico, offering many entertainment opportunities. I would definitely stay there again...In fact, I wish I was there right now.

The property was beautiful, and in a gorgeous setting, but the owner's hospitality made our stay better than we had anticipated. Jeanne had a loaf of fresh-baked bread waiting on the kitchen counter when we arrived. :) The cabin is in a prime location to take advantage of the many things the Four Corners has to offer. Mesa Verde is close, and Moab is only 2 hours away. The owners made themselves as available as we wanted them to - offering to draw maps for us, or make phone calls if necessary. I can't say enough about what nice people The Cains are. Our stay was just perfect.

From the view of the Sleeping Ute to the cool and comfortable home Casa Cielo is a great place to get away from the stresses of life and enjoy some quiet time. It was a great location to launch our many day trips from and we had no trouble sitting out on the lanai and enjoying the sunsets that seemed to go on forever. Jeane was an excellent hostess and even baked us some homemade bread on the day that we arrived. She also had some excellent suggestions on nearby attractions like Mesa Verde and Hovenweep. Our trip was greatly enhanced by our time at Casa Cielo and having Betty Ann ( the massage therapist) all to ourselves for a whole day didn't hurt anything either. We'd stay again anytime.

This is a great place. The owner’s will give you a great deal of information about the area and they were very helpful and accommodating. You couldn’t ask for nicer people. The house is beautiful and CLEAN. You are centrally located with easy access to many area attractions, you’ll never be bored. Take advantage of Mesa Verde, Hovenweep, Telluride, The Million Dollar Highway, Durango, Silverton, and the list goes on and on. You won’t have enough time to see everything. If your not into sightseeing, take advantage of your accommodations. The house is warm and inviting. You won’t be disappointed no matter what your agenda is, you get it all here. Thanks again Jeannie and Leonard for a wonderful week.

This was so much better than staying in a Motel suite. The home is very clean, beautifully laid out and decorated. The views are great and it is oh so quiet! One doesn't need to pack much as everything is provided. The washer and dryer work great so you don't even need to bring a lot of clothes. The location is perfect for all the things to do in the area. Jeanne and Leonard are gracious hosts that will visit with you as much as you want or leave you alone as much as you want. I would not suggest that couples with young children stay here as the home is not child-proof and there is ruff terrain close by.
