April 16, 2013 I was pleasantly surprised with this villa. It turned out to be the best part of our trip. We actually spent two whole days not doing anything but soaking up the views and relaxing in the hot tub. If I ever go back to St. Thomas I would be staying here.

“FABULOUS!!” Reviewed March 28, 2013 NEW My husband and I have been vacationing in St. Thomas for 25 years and have stayed in many places and villas there and on St. John. I have to say, Villa Fantasia was by far the best place we have ever stayed. The views alone are worth every penny of your rental! ?The bedrooms also have fantastic views and every night I could lie there and see the lights of St. John and the surrounding islands. ?The pool deck is spacious and again the views are to die for. There are decks all around the villa so you can sit in the sun, the shade, out of the wind - there's a deck for everyone. ?The hot tub faces west so you can relax and watch the sun set. The grill is on the same deck and is always available to use because Mike who is the caretaker at the villa makes sure everything is in working order. He & Hilary were great! ?The kitchen is huge and worked well with 3 of us cooking at one time! ?I can't say enough about this wonderful villa. I've already booked it for next year and can't wait to go back.

We just returned from St. Thomas where six of us stayed at Villa Fantasia. We all loved the villa and agreed that it's one place we would rent again. The views are out of this world. You're at the top of a hill overlooking St. Thomas, out to St. John and beyond to other islands - look out any window and the scenery is beautiful. I spent the first two hours circling the house taking pictures. The villa is perfect for couples. All bedrooms are about the same size and none have a better view than another and the beds were very comfortable. The kitchen is big enough for multiple people to cook at the same time and it's stocked with enough serving dishes, pots & pans, etc. Mike, the caretaker, was really friendly and helpful. The location was awesome - close to Red Hook for dining, bars, the ferry to St. John and the road up to the villa is not busy, so it was a good and safe spot to go running. We've already recommended Villa Fantasia to our friends! This review is also posted on tripadvisor.com

Amazing place.. house is not lockable, incredible view, Would go back even though house is not secure. We had a very nice time there and will go back again. House needs some updating, new sliding doors would make it secure. If you want to be a hero and show how beautitful the Caribbean is you can not find a better view.

    Recommended for: Adventure seekers

Owner response: The entrance to the property is secured with an electronic gate and security code. The sea air does cause some locks to work harder than usual but a little WD-40 and assistance from our great caretakers, Mike and Hillary, resolves the problem. The main living areas, pool, livingroom, diningroom, kitchen and Hot Tub are on the second level and are more open to the beautiful views of the surrounding islands. Yet all doors and gates can be closed and locked if desired.

Our dates would be more or less the same depending on the flight schedules. We do hope that this works for you. We seem to be becoming regulars (Renting Villa Fantasia for the past three Christmas Holidays.)The house looked great. Mike and Hillary had done a lot of work. Look forward to hearing from you. We travel with same friends every winter, this year we spent a week at Villa Fantasia on St. Thomas USVI. We wished it could have been longer. Service was good, Mike the caretaker met us in town and led us up to the Villa. The house is amazing, views from every single spot! Rooms large and airy, though we didn't spend much time in the house as the weather was great and the pool area and sitting areas outside were very comfortable. The house is atop Cabrita point and extremely private. There are panoramic views of St. John's and the British Virgin Islands and the harbor in Red Hook down below. The bedrooms are comfortable however it is strange how no doors seemed to be able to be locked. It was a little disconcerting the few times we left the villa to take excursions to neighboring islands not to be able to feel we left our belongings secured. There were safes in bedrooms, but no keys, which was strange. The town of Red Hook had some nice restaurants, however most evenings we BBQ'd at villa as we just wanted to relax and were not anxious to leave the views and drive the winding roads in the dark, especially if we had a couple of cocktails. The other fact that made driving a little difficult was that they drive on the opposite side of the road than we do in the States. The kitchen and bathrooms could use some updating, the appliances seemed old and tired, we had a problem where the dishwasher broke - which Mike took care of as soon as we let him know, but then the stove went down. For $4500 week that shouldn't happen. But all in all we had a wonderful time and would recommend this villa. Marilynn Taylor Williston Park, NY February 12 – 19, 2011 marilynntay@hotmail.com

Hi Tom, all I can say is wow!! My husband and I had an amazing time at your villa. We seldom left and when we did we would rush back to enjoy the beauty of the villa and its surroundings. The only thing I could mention as something to improve is the banging of the screens while sleeping or the banging of the outside shutters. When we mentioned it to Mike he came right over and put a fastner on to stop the rattling. We understand the wonder of the villa is its location. And therefore the wind which is truely a blessing and a curse. So one has to understand that the wind is something to embrace even at 2am when the screen is rattling. I know the constant up keep of the villa must be very overwhelming. We LOVED it and was so thankful to be able to enjoy a slice of paradise. We have adult children who are begging to go are you available for Christmas of 2011? Thanks again! Sheila and Kirk

I had to write you and tell you how much we enjoyed staying at Villa Fantasia. We have stayed at several villas in the Caribbean but none came close to your view. All of us made sure we saw each sunrise and sunset and it was a total surprise to find our son and his bride right next door to us at your other villa. One morning we actually saw a whale and were glued in our chairs for at least an hour watching it pop up and down and afraid to move a muscle in case we missed anything :) I really thought your pictures on line had to be exaggerated, they were not. You will be hearing from us again because our whole family has decided Villa Fantasia requires another visit from us. We have told everyone we know what a fantastic place you have and I personally don't know how you can leave it (except for the roads). So glad we found you.

Hello Tom, We had a wonderful time at the Villa Fantasia. It is truly an amazing house! However, we did have a couple of suggestions. First, a better cleaning between guests. Second, making sure that doors out to swimming pool open and close properly and all sliding doors operate easily. Really, it is just a matter of maintaining the beautiful house that is Villa fantasia. The pool was great, as was the hot tub, the beds, the towels and the kitchen. We did our own house cleaning and even got into pool cleaning. The latter we did for the fun of it. Sooo, this leads me to saying that we would like to rent the Villa for next year, at approximately the same time period. If that is possible, how should we proceed? Look forward to hearing from you and Happy New Year.

With all those great reviews already posted for this Amazing Villa, I really feel I have little to add. So I am going to start off with the one and only negative; since this Villa has windows everywhere, it has some insects. not a lot of them, just enough to scare my insect-phobia wife once in a while. with that said, she seems to adapt after 2 days. so let's talk about the good things: - The new Jet Spa is amazing. has an amazing view of the harbor and city lights and sits 4 people comfortably. - ALL 3 bedrooms have amazing ocean view. all are very spacious with king size beds, TV, and sofas - The living room upstairs has a million dollar view. I am a real estate broker in Manhattan and I have seen multi-multi million dollar apts with park and city views. but Nothing, absolutely nothing come even close to Villa Fantasia. I was on a ferry to st. john and a couple of tourist were talking about the amazing view this villa must have just by looking at it from the boat. i didn't have the heart to tell them that i am staying there, but it did make me feel like a million dollars. - The pool is great, but we only used it once. we were out to the ocean early and came back late. -my parents enjoyed the sun rise on the deck. -the industrial size BBQ grill is amazing! and Mike changed even gave me a full bottle of gas! - the road is really not that bad! we had 6 people and a van, it was rocking a little. don't let the other review scare you. if you can rent a jeep, go for it; if not, a 1988 corola will still do the job fine. -the caretaker Mike is amazing. he changed the spa water for us and sprayed bugs when we were out during the day. he helped us connect to the internet and gave us direction on where to get catches of the day. so is it worth it? yes. absolutely. I strongly recommend this to any honeymooners and family travelers. I will take my kids back again to Villa Fantasia!

We absolutely LOVE this villa! The view of St. John and the British Virgin Islands is outstanding! We enjoyed many days just floating in the pool gazing at the view. The pool deck is huge and had more than enough room for everyone to lay out. We loved the back deck for the evening time with the hot tub to keep us warm when the sun went down. I had my one year old son with me so it was wonderful to have the common area upstairs and a nice, clean, cool, quiet bedroom to retreat to downstairs for nap time and early bedtime. The view from the bedrooms are equally as breathtaking so I never missed out! We truly had an incredible week there. Mike and Hilary, the caretakers, are absolutely fabulous and we can't thank them enough for taking such good care of us! We would definitely go to this villa again!!!!

What an absolute delight...sitting out on the patio late at night watching the stars was awesome...Mike, the incomparable caretaker, was great and a real delight. Jen Hall coordinated an island tour; an in-villa chef dinner; and scuba diving...thank God for the jeep...interesting roads...my daughter, who is training for the Baltimore Marathon, had me running down the hill from the Villa to the stop sign and back every morning...I nearly died...

My husband and I just returned from our vacation at the Villa Fantasia. The weather was great and the view from the Villa was the best on the island. We rented a Jeep Wrangler from Dependable and toured St. Thomas ourselves. The roads are not in the best shape but were bearable. Great places to eat were Duffy's Love Shake, Iggies and the Blue Havana. We also took the ferry to St. John which is a must. WE took a tour and I must say St. John is as beautiful as St. Thomas. We ate at the Waterfront Bistro which was wonderful. The only thing negative about the trip was the mosquitoes. It had rained the week before which I'm sure made them even worse. Overall our trip to the Villa was amazing. A big thanks to our caretakers.

You can add our names to the list of happy vacationers who had the good fortune to stay at Villa Fantasia. When I called Tom Spruance about the VRBO listing I was in a hurry to book a house near the RitzCarlton where we would be attending a medical conference. I never looked at the reviews just the pretty picture. Well, we were delighted with the breathtaking view, the unusual style of the villa, ( we thought a cross between a lighthouse and a castle), and the helpful caretakers. The weather was great for the week with sunshine and cooling breezes, and we managed to take about 500 photos from the pool terrace. Our arrival night we had a caribbean lobster stuffed with seafood risotto dinner prepared by a local West Indian chef ( Lee Prager ) and served on the terrace by the light of a full moon. Lee is also a chef at Latitude 18 which is not to be missed. We rented a jeep ( Dependable ) so the road to Fantasia was not a problem. The road is a popular route for diehard runners. For the past 25 years we have stayed in St. John and this year we spent a week on each island. Fantasia is an easy ride into RedHook for restaurants ( recommend The Cellar and The East End Cafe) and the ferry to St. John. We had to extend our trip due to the snowstorm which closed our airport so we booked a few more days at the Ritz Carlton. ( Fantasia was booked ) While the Ritz is a great hotel, rooms, service, the overly crowded beach was such a let down after having a 3000 sq. ft. pool terrace all to ourselves. Fantasia has a premier spot on Cabrita Point and Joe and I can't wait to go back.

360 degree view of Cabria Point looking out to St. John and the British VIs. A three bedroom home complete with full kitchen, living space, laundry, pool and hot tub, for your vacation escape. We traveled with two other couples and the cost was comparable to staying at a resort hotel except we were not bothered by other guests. We had the place to ourselves and never had to worry about when the kitchen closed. It was always open. While you need to do your own cooking and go grocery shopping, it was no problem and worked out well. The Villa is conveniently located near Red Hook with its restaurants, entertainment, shopping and ferry access. It will be a vacation to remember and repeat! Go for it!

I went with my family over the Holidays this year and it was the best thing we've done in a while. The house has 3 bedrooms each with phenomenal views. The pool had a view of all surrounding islands and St John (right in front of you). Seriously, we saw the pictures and they almost don’t even do this place justice. The kitchen is fully functional, Hot Tub and BBQ situated on the side of the house opposite the pool, connected by a wrap around deck - everywhere you go, the views are gorgeous. We had a 98% sunny week, was just gorgeous. Location of the house is on a piece of land jutting out (a "point" as some would say), the house is on top of it. like on TOP, there are only a few other houses on the hill, you're pretty secluded. But, still only a short drive away from the local bars and great restaurants. Only advice is to get a jeep type vehicle on St Thomas, its more hilly than we expected. This place is lovely, the owner is very nice as are the caretakers.

A dream come true. Susan and I recently got together as a couple and when she found out that I had never been to the Caribbean, she insisted that I go on a trip she had already planned with her two teen-aged children so we could relax and get to know each other better. The flight was long from Portland but we arrived in good spirits and began with the adventure of driving on the left side of the road from Charlotte Amolie to Red Hook where we met Mike and he took us up to the hill to the Villa. When we got there it was everything we had hoped for. The views were breathtaking, the house spacious and clean, the beds comfortable, the water hot and the weather – coming in December – was more than we could ask for. The three bedroom suites were perfect – each of the kids had his/her own room and they were separate and private from Susan and me. There was plenty to do on the island – nightlife, shopping, dining, swimming, snorkeling and just relaxing. The ferry to St. Johns was right at the bottom of the hill in Red Hook and with Duffy’s, Latitude 18 and the Caribbean Saloon in town it was perfect. Our thanks to friendly Mike who made sure things were clean and easy but kept out of the way unless he was needed and to Tom Spruance who opened up his beautiful house to us. We can’t wait to go back!

My husband and I are in our mid 40’s and after 10 yrs of eye balling this villa, we finally booked it for our 25th Anniversary. I kick myself in the butt for not doing it sooner. This was totally awesome. This was our 10th time on the Island, 3rd time for a week and 1st time staying on this part of the island. Location is out of this world. Being just the 2 of us, this was more house then we needed, but loved it. We used the middle bedroom, as we thought it had the best views from the 3 balcony windows. I agree that Mike (caretaker) was great. Mid week he came in and tidied up the place and changed the bedding. Our last night we were invited down to Latitude 18 for drinks. We didn’t even know he was around all week, … Décor of the house is decorated very nicely. Kept up extremely well!! Coffee in the mornings by the pool, morning swim and hot tub ever night – couldn’t ask for a better way to start your morning or end the night. Each night we went for a night cap in the Red Hook area, 10 minute drive down the hill, lots of bars/restaurants…. Lobster dinner at The Blue Moon, wonderful. ….. I would 100% recommend this place again to anyone, and will without a doubt stay here over and over again. We spent a lot of time exploring the island and visiting different beaches … Thanks Tom for having such a wonder rental place and thanks Mike for all your help and Hillary for allowing us to use your computer to print our boarding passes. We, without a doubt, loved this place and location. We felt like king and queen of the world looking down at everyone. Can’t wait to go back.

This was the best vacation ever, so far. The flight was stellar. The rental car from Dependable Car Rental was flawless. They picked us up at the airport. By the way, rent a jeep, they're fun. Driving on the left side of the road was challenging yet envigorating. Thank goodness one of our party was a true lefty so he adapted well to the driving thing. The road to the villa wasn't that bad and we navigated without difficulty. The villa's caretaker, Mike, we loved him, met us in Red Hook and lead us to the villa. When we crested the hill into the world of the Villa Fantasia, we could not have been more pleased. We ran through the beautiful front entrance, up the stairs to the beautiful living space and directly out to the amazing pool deck. Our jaws dropped as we took in the unbelievable view. A view like no other. We eventually ventured back into the wonders of the villa and picked our bedrooms. All of which were fantastic. The week at the villa was beautiful, stress free and outright amazing. The wildlife was fascinating. Mike, the caretaker was great. We wanted for nothing. We all tried to figure out how we could just stay there and not have to go back to the real world. We will definitely go back and recommend it highly to others. Wish we were there right now.

My husband and I usually travel to St. Thomas once a month on business but at the beginning of October we planned a week-long family vacation (with his parents and sister) and decided to stay at the Villa Fantasia. … What we weren't prepared for was the spectacular lay-out of this property! Not only is the property COMPLETELY private (it occupies the very summit of the eastern-most peninsula so there are no other properties to block your view or look down on you - … but the upstairs common rooms and the pool all also feature full 360 degree views. The photos do not do it justice. The whole house opens up and remains breezy and sooooo relaxing even during the hottest parts of the day. The unique circular lay-out of the property allows you to leave your bedroom windows completely open and still be guaranteed full privacy - the shower in our room was nothing but window! We are all runners so another perk of this property is that you can take ocean-view jogs (starting right from your front door) all along the peninsula without having to worry about traffic.!" The house also features a BBQ and hot tub. Nothing compares to unwinding in the hot-tub with a glass of champagne after a "hard day" at the beach! … The caretakers were lovely and were on hand to greet us, familiarize us with the property, and answer a couple of questions that came up during the week.

Just returned from a 10 day trip to Villa Fantasia and it was awesome! It was our second visit, the first was in 2007 and we are already planning our next visit. I have traveled all over the Caribbean and can say without a doubt, the view from there is second to none. As with all small islands the roads leading up to Fantasia can seem menacing, especially when you are "staying left" but it becomes second hand in no time. We rented a van as there were 6 of us and it worked out perfect and inexpensive too. The caretakers who live on site were wonderful and saw to all our needs... and then some! There were several renovations done since our last visit making it even nicer...remodeled kitchen and bedroom and new flat screen televisions throughout (not that you have much time to watch TV) and they had wireless internet for those who needed it. Most of our mornings were spent by the pool looking out at St. John and the evenings in the hot tub looking out over St. Thomas. The days were filled with snorkeling, boating and shopping. What a life, I hated to come back to reality. I would highly recommend Villa Fantasia to anyone but especially those who want to share a little piece of paradise.

This was our third visit to Villa Fantasia, and, again, we found it to be home base for a most relaxing vacation. … You definitely want to rent a vehicle when you go. I would recommend Dependable Car Rental. They will pick you up and return you to the airport. … From the villa at the top of Cabrita Point, you have a 360 dgree view,.... Most of our days were similar. Get up, have coffe on the pool deck while reading and watching the sun come up over St Johns, have breakfast, pack a lunch, go to the beach, come home (the villa feels like "home" immediately) … The boys found plenty of night life in the Red Hook, but I couldn't tell you where since we were always asleep when they came home. Because we have been there before, we didn't require much of Mike, the caretaker, but he stopped by several times to make sure everything was meeting our needs. The laundary was well-stocked and Mike kept the bottled-water well supplied. The boys met Jen, the concierge. and appreciated the suggestions she gave them. The only negative was the mosquitoes. This was the first time we went during the rainy season. It didn't rain on us, but it had earlier, leaving standing water for mosquito-breeding. Mike helped up by supplying repellent. One last suggestion - pack light; swimsuits, shorts, shirts, sandals, and, most importantly, snorkeling gear. Leave your worries and cares at home. The Virgin Islands offer a great place to vacation and Villa Fantasia is the perfect place to stay while there. We are already looking forward to our next visit.
