We rented this estate for 4 adults and a 5 year old. Unfortunately it rained the entire 2 weeks we were in Aschau. This estate saved the day! The huge rooms provided ample room for our daughter to roam and play. The amenities were excellent and the housekeepr was readily available and superbly attentive. The house is within walking distance of 2 wonderful restaraunts called Brucker and Schlossenkehr...must eats if in the area. The city of Aschau is wonderful and has all amenities needed, even for a serious chef. The grounds themselves are small but this is irrelevant with most major hiking trails starting in the backyard of this estate! Beautiful views abound even when it rains. This is highly recommended by our family and we hope to come back routinely. A note for Americans (which we are): if this is your fist foray to Europe note that large screen TV's and Cable do not exist so dont expect "movietime". Also we couldn't say enough about the modern updates here...superb bathrooms, dishwasher, microwave, Wifi and a great heating system (It was 48C in June one night!). Thanks to the owner for letting us use this great property.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway.

This house is like a dream! Its nicely restored facade greeted us warmly and bas basking in the evening sunlight. We were three families from Grandfather to the grandchildren to have a family reunion. The housekeeper was helpful, showed us around and gave us the needed keys and beautiful starched and natural bedding. She was always around in case we had a question since she lived next door. The house is very big, very well equipped, very clean and perfectly designed with especially two truly grand rooms which are perfect for entertaining. The house sits at the edge of the alpine forest where there is so much to do and experience-we had a blast!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway, adventure seekers.

Owner info
Year Purchased: 2001
About the owner: I am an architect that has worked on many buildings in the US and Germany. This property has been my favorite project and was restored with great care and love. The building is a jewel in Bavaria that has received a lot of praise.
Why the Owner Chose Aschau:
I just love the area for its beauty, traditional charm and quiet retreat quality. The building itself was one major reason why I became involved. It is one of a kind you will seldom encounter. You have to see to believe this mixture of an 18th Century mill, an old theater and a small former electric power plant.
The Unique Benefits at this Estate:
The building is vast, very generous and comfortably can host 18 guests in an environment that features historical details, high quality materials and designer care.
