Jemez Springs cabin description

This is a beautiful, secluded log cabin nestled on three acres of forest land in the mountains above Jemez Springs at an elevation of approximately 8,300 feet. We have enjoyed this wonderful place and want to share with other friends, families and guests.

Located at mile marker 33 on Hwy 4, the cabin is 1 hour 45 minutes from the ABQ International Airport and 1 hour 20 minutes from downtown Santa Fe.

Upon arrival, you will find an array of amenities to enjoy during your relaxing mountain retreat, including:
- an open floor plan with exposed log beams;
- three bedrooms
- one king size bed on the main floor
- one full size bed upstairs
- one three-tiered bunk bed upstairs;
- a loft with 2 twin beds;
- a dining room with seating for eight;
- large windows to admire the beautiful vistas;
- two full bathrooms;
- a full kitchen, including a dishwasher
- an outdoor grill;
- a full laundry; and
- a wood burning stove with pre-chopped wood outside.
- if you need basic groceries, Amanda’s, a small general store, located 7 miles south on Hwy. 4, has groceries, bait and tackle, and fishing licenses;

There are books, board games, video games, and movies catering to all ages. There is a flat screen TV, Blu-Ray player and XBox 360, along with basic internet access. Cable and basic television are not available. The cabin has spotty cell reception, but has a landline with free long distance throughout the contiguous United States.

From the large front porch, which accommodates up to eight adults, you can enjoy incredible sunsets, star gazing and abundant wildlife.In the winter months, enjoy the view of the snow-capped ridge and sledding on the hill in the front of the cabin (two small sleds are provided).

Hiking is limitless, and the cabin is a perfect starting point for walks in the forest or strolls on the access road. The cabin is ten minutes from waterfalls and swimming at Jemez Falls to the south. Fishing and hiking at Las Conchas is 10 minutes away to the north. Within 25 minutes you can visit Bandelier National Monument, the Valles Caldera or Fenton Lake. Within 30 minutes you can be in downtown Los Alamos in the north, skiing in Pajarito Ski Area or be in downtown Jemez Springs to the south.

The Village of Jemez Springs has great shopping flavored by local artists. There are great restaurants, including a real saloon where you can eat, drink and meet the locals. Also located in Jemez Springs is the famous hot springs and full service day spa where everyone on your trip can be pampered after a long day of enjoying the outdoors.

Enjoy the wonderful cabin with your friends and loved ones in this beautiful mountain setting. Have fun, enjoy the views, the air, and the peace and quiet.

                        This cabin was perfect for an out of town weekend reunion of old friends. The kitchen held an impressing depth of cooking tools, the bedrooms and space slept 8 incredibly well, the DVD and game selection was more than ample, and the porch was a great spot to simply hang out. A hike to a peak via fire roads was right out the back door, and when there is snow, the sled in the shed allowed for some great rides down the side yard slope. The place is a good trek from ABQ airport but the drive through the Reservation, Jemez Springs, and the mountains is worth it. You really feel like you are away from it all. The owners were very responsive and provided a lot of guidance on how to plan for the weekend, including outlining supplies that we are already at the cabin. Would definitely come back again. And again.

                        This very nice, neat, clean and luxurious house was also centrally located for our needs. All amenities are there - nothing lacking, In fact we were not even able to take advantage of some. As impressive and fully satisfying as the house was, Jason deserves great credit for his understanding of our somewhat eclectic schedules and coordination's among our group. In the end, it was Jason that made this such a successful and enjoyable stay. His flexibility and understanding really set him and this nice house above the rest! We will definitely stay there again if at all possible, and would recommend it to friends and family.

                        Five guys; an amazing log house nestled in the pine forest; a cozy ambiance with an effective wood stove and plenty of logs, and, enough bedrooms to satisfy everyone. it turned out to be a great weekend! We hiked to Spence Springs and soaked in salubrious mineral waters; had convivial cocktail hours; enjoyed creative gourmet breakfasts and dinners; participated in wacky games that kept us laughing for hours, and to top it off, a four and a half hours hike on Sunday to a relatively unknown, and pristine hot-spring with more soaking. It was a winter weekend to remember, an eclectic gathering of men: artist; electrical engineer; elementary school-teacher; retired university human resource administrator, and a financial consultant. And, from my "cook's" perspective, the kitchen is a gem! I brought-up my sharp knives, never imagining that a vacation rental would have decent knives, but I was definitely wrong with that assumption. The owners have a fully equipped kitchen including sharp knives a variety of pots and pans, graters, colanders, and enough culinary gadgets that made me feel right at home. We plan to return again and again, and I would definitely recommend this particular "cabin in the woods."

                        This was a great place to stay. It had all the conveniences listed, the views were phenomenal and we had a wonderful time there. It is remote, which is one reason we chose it. We brought food and also found lots of food other people had left there. The bottle of wine from our hosts was very appreciated!

                        This place was fantastic and exactly what we needed. The kitchen was well equipped for a lot of cooking at the cabin and the grill was a nice added bonus. Beds were comfy, plenty of bedrooms for the 5 of us to spread out, and great views from the front deck. We even enjoyed watching movies together in the evenings on the flatscreen tv. The kids' only complaint was that the wifi was too slow, but we didn't retreat to the mountains to play on our electronics, so it was no problem for us! The owners were also very accommodating and pleasant. Great place to stay, would definitely recommend to friends.

                        We stayed at the property for three days/two nights - and had a great time! The property is in very good condition, and everything you need is right there - kitchen was very well equipped. Owner was helpful, and answered our questions before we went up. It is clean and spacious - Internet worked well - beds were comfy. If you're going up with kids, or want to watch movies yourself - do take your own DVDs, as there were none there (although there were lots of games). Took the grandkids fishing at the kids pond (restricted to kids under 12) at Seven Springs Hatchery, about three miles past Fenton Lake State Park. They had a great time, and caught several trout. Fenton Lake is about a 30 minute drive. Quiet retreat, with great views of the stars at night. If driving up from the Albuquerque side, take note that the directions provided state that you have to turn on NF10. No such road on the map. It is FR 10 (stands for Forest Road). Also - in order to not have to track your mileage from San Ysidro - remember that you need to turn just after you pass mile marker 33. Also, if you have bad knees like I do - keep in mind you'll be going up and down quite a lot of stairs, outside and inside. Would we stay there again? ABSOLUTELY!!!

                        I am a graduate student, and my friends and I came up here for a weekend during spring break. It was great to get away from the city and from schoolwork. That location was nice and accessible for hiking, and the cabin was perfect (lots of amenities, space, and privacy). We had a great time!

                        The owner was friendly and very accommodating (he turned on the power, etc. before we arrived). The cabin was spacious and very comfortable. It felt like being at home! If we forgot something, it seemed as if that was not a problem—we made do with what was available. It was convenient to what we wanted to explore, so it made a perfect home base. We would definitely consider renting this cabin again and would highly recommend it to others. Thank you for making this available to people like us who were looking for something a little different for a family vacation for five adults! P. S. We enjoyed watching three to four bluejays enjoy their treats near the driveway.

                        We had a great time! The was not only beautiful but very clean and the location was very serene. We enjoyed our coffee and wine on the front porch as we watched the local wildlife. The cabin easily accommodates large families. We had eight in our party (two families). The kids enjoyed the location and to their delight they/we could access Netflix. The owners were gracious to leave DVD's, books, playing card and info pertaining to the surrounding area. The location is perfect for trekking to the Springs, Caldera, Los Alamos, etc.. We were surprised and pleased to find the kitchen well stocked. It has a crock pot, electric skillet, cookie sheets, coffee maker and grinder, and a mircrowave. There are plenty of dishes and utensils. I never had to pull mine utensils out, with the exception of a rolling pin. We were also delighted to find that there was a few itmes left in the cupboards to use, such a flour, sugar and some spice. This can be very handy if your forgot some items. The location of the cabin is on a slight hill, so a 4-wheel drive is helpful! I was able to get up the driveway without 4-wheel drive in a Toyota SUV. I had to give is some gas to climb the hill, but GO STRAIGHT UP! Do not try the other entrance without 4-wheel drive you may get stuck! For sleeping accomodations there is a king size bed that was very comfortable! One room holds a double bed. The other room has bunk beds (3 beds), and on the loft their is a single bed. There is also a computer on the loft. We brought our laptops and had no problems accessing the internet. We had an awesome stay and would like to thank the Foott family for opening their vacation home to us for our use! Heath Foott was great about answering any questions we had. We would definitely stay their again! Two thumbs up!!!! The Sanchez's and the Rosario's
