We loved our time spent at Blizzard Run. Based on the reviews, I had no doubt that it would be incredible - yet it exceeded my expectations. Within minutes of arrival, the kids were catching frogs, salamanders and tadpoles. We had nice evenings by the campfire roasting marshmallows. We spent our days visiting the Historic Triangle and our evenings at the house. We arrived late on Saturday and left early Wednesday morning. We were able to accomplish all that we wanted at Williamsburg, Yorktown and Jamestown, but would have liked to have a full day to spend at the home just relaxing. There is nothing that I could add that would have made the stay more enjoyable, because Ella has thought of every detail. The size of the home fit our two families of four very well. We have already started recommending this home to our family and friends for their upcoming vacations.

My wife and I just got back from Surry and this rental met and exceeded our expectations. The owners thought of so many little touches that really made us feel cared about (handwritten welcome note, children's games in the game room, etc...). We LOVED our time here and spent half our time visiting the really neat historical sites nearby and the other half resting at the house with a fire in the fireplace or taking nature walks with the kids. I highly recommend this house and the owners.

We had a wonderful trip, thank you so much! The house was perfect for our group of 9, with plenty of room to spread out. The kids loved the playhouse and making smores! Ella went above and beyond making sure we had what we needed to prepare our Thanksgiving dinner. We will be back again soon!

We highly recommend this property for anyone. We arrived in early September and the owners had obviously worked overtime getting the place spruced up for us after Hurricane Irene! The home, grounds, and pool were beautiful. Our group of 10 - mom and dad, 6 kids, and Grandma and Grandpa - stayed here for 6 days and we all had plenty of space to spread out and explore. It was a perfect place to relax and unwind after our days of fun in the Historic Triangle, collecting shells along the James River, and a day at Viginia Beach. The owners have thoughtfully provided everything needed - plenty of dishes, cookware, and linens, comfortable seating and bedding, games and puzzles, even marshmallow and hot dog roasting sticks! The owner was glad to answer any questions I had. I think my kids will remember their adventures here at Blizzard Run as much (if not more) than anything else on our trip.

We stayed at Blizzard Run a few weeks ago, and it exceeded our expectations! My husband and I and our four children stayed here for a week. It was so spacious, we all enjoyed it so much, We especially enjoyed the pool (since it was 100+ the week we were there!), and the kids loved exploring the pond and the outdoor playset. The kitchen is well stocked with anything we needed, and Ella did an amazing job of anticipating our needs. There were four sets of towels set out for my kids, plus extra toiletries, hair driers etc. The kids also really enjoyed the selection of board/video games as well. We had some local friends visit while were there, and they also enjoyed it, and will definitely be referring friends and family as well. The next time we are up in this area, we will absolutely return to this home. Thanks again for helping to make our vacation memorable!

We had a wonderful vacation at this lovely house. As others have said, it was quiet and secluded, but it was very close to the ferry which made it convenient to visit Busch Gardens, Colonial Williamsburg, Jamestown and Yorktown. After a long ride on our first day, we were quite pleased when we arrived at the house. The house was clean and quite lovely, with large comfy rooms which made it very welcoming. After we unpacked, we enjoyed a nice Italian dinner at nearby Anna’s in Surry. After lengthy days spent away from the house, what a wonderful feeling it was to return to the privacy of a clean, crystal blue pool. The only bad thing about our visit was that it was way too short. I miss those early morning days by the pool! We would very much recommend this lovely home to other vacationers who are looking for a bit more than your average hotel room. The size of the home provided each of us with some privacy and it was nice that each of our children had their own bedroom. The house lived up to all of my expectations and proved to be lovelier than the photos. Thank you, Ella, for allowing us to stay at your lovely home. P.S. to future vacationers....take a look through the ample supply of coupons Ella makes available for your use. I looked at them after it was too late! Also, be sure to grab a copy of the ferry schedule which is available for the taking. You'll be happy you did.

This is a lovely house in a charming country setting. Very quiet. We had a great time vacationing in Williamsburg. Returning to this quiet country home every evening with all of it's emenities was always the perfect end to a great day. We would highly recommend this for a family looking for a very comfortable place to stay slightly off the beaten path but within easy reach of all of the Colonial Williamsburg attractions.

We arrived at The Farm after a long drive down the Eastern Shore from Annapolis, where we had spent two days. The house and property are even better than the photographs, and the location is superb for enjoying a bit of peace and quiet after long days of touring the Historic Triangle! The ferry ride might get old for some, if you go back to the 'Burg every day, but I found it peaceful and enjoyable. We stayed two weeks, and I would have asked to extend my stay, had the house not been fully booked for the summer. Two families shared the house beautifully -- there is plenty of room and space for all. The washer/dryer, gas grill, and appliances are all new or nearly so, and were so appreciated. And thank goodness, the air conditioning worked well, as we had exceptionally hot and humid weather (a nice break for this desert-dweller!). The kids loved the pond and the pool, and I enjoyed seeing all the wildlife in and around the farm. Just down the road is access to a private beach shared with the neighboring properties, and we enjoyed a lot of time there, as well. Had we driven to Virginia from home, we would have enjoyed having our bikes to explore the area a bit more. Be advised that this is true rural living -- however gracious -- and that there is no Starbucks or big box grocery store within 20 miles. So if you need those amenities at a handy distance, perhaps you would prefer the convenience of the Williamsburg side of the James. But as for me and mine, we'll take Surry! Thank you, Ella -- see you again in April!

This vacation was meant to be a time away, to combine two (future) families together, to get away from the heart ache the family has experienced for the past year. And this location was just want we needed. It was secluded enough where we had our peace and quiet but not to far away from activities. Spending the days sight seeing and being able to come home to a place where the kids were able to play, look for frogs (which their grandmother hates), go swimming, sit around a campfire, all while the adults were able to rest and relax. The house is beautiful, with plenty of room. This was truly a vacation that was home away from home. We look forwad to returning in the future for another restful vacation.

My family and I just came back from a wonderful week in Surry, Va. The house and grounds were beautiful and very relaxing. Our family had a difficult year after looseing my husband suddenly and this was just what we needed to be able to relax and grow closer together. I will surely go back to see things we didn't have time to see. Thank you again for sharing your home with us for a great week. We will return

About the owner: This was our home for many years. Now we live in another home with our 4 kids, 3 are home schooled and one is away at Liberty University. We still enjoy this home very much and enjoy spending time there.

                      Why the Owner Chose Williamsburg:
We built this house planning for it to be our forever home, we liked the location and the neighborhood for its peacefulness.

The Unique Benefits at this Chateau / Country House:
Our children love to explore around the pond, and find bullfrogs, salamanders and fish. We also like to sit around the fire and have smores. Front porch sitting is a favorite past time as well.
