The condo was clean and well maintained. We could see one of the two pools from our lanai so we could get there when it was quiet. It took less than 5 minutes to walk from our unit to the beach. The office staff were pleasant and helpful and the pools, barbeques and grounds are kept in perfect condition. We would definately recommend this unit to friends who a looking for a relaxing vacation. The 808 Bistro was quite good and we have never been disappointed by our (several) meals at the Cafe O'Lei.Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, families with young children.

We spent a couple of weeks in Maui and enjoyed ourselves greatly. The condo was great, spacious and clean. There were a couple of nights where some folks above us were a little noisy but other than that we really enjoyed our stay. We especially liked having the beach chairs and toys for the kids. We went to a lot of beaches but found that Kameole II was by far the best beach. Spent a number of mornings snorkeling and actually got to swim with sea turtles in between Kam II and Kam III. We had a car for our first week and made great use of it as we went to Lahaina a couple of times. We also loved Nakalele Blow Hole on the north part of the island. Some great waves!!! We were able to see whales from the beach and on our drives. We loved the aquarium but found it a little pricey. Book online before you go and you can save $5 per admission. It was nice not to have stairs or elevators to deal with. It was great to sit on the Lanai in the evening and feel the beautiful breeze. The condo was close to shopping and restaurants. We recommend checking out Fred's for great Mexican food. One small issue for the complex is that the one pool was super cold all of the time but that was ok as we simply spent the majority of our time at the beach. We loved the location and would definitely come back. Maui truly is one of the most beautiful places on Earth. A great way to spend our winter vacation. Aloha!Recommended for: Sightseeing, tourists without a car, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children.

We enjoyed our stay at this property. It has been very nicely renovated and is accurate to the pictures. With two young children being steps away from our parking spot was definitely a perk. Very convenient location, close to shops, the beach and the most amazing cinnamon bun place ever. The on island manager was great and was very quick to address the minor issues we had. We appreciated the free wifi and recommended installing a landline (which is appearantly is going to happen in the near future). The lack of one probably isin't a problem for US residents, but for Canadians the roaming charges can get a wee crazy. Would definitely consider this property for a future vacation :)Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children.

On our recent (and first) trip to Maui, we encountered the friendly and helpful hostess to be so kind and generous in her help. The amenities were all so close, mostly within walking distance. The condo was clean and well appointed, obviously cared for. We came as a family, to celebrate our daughter's wedding in nearby Makena. Staying in the condo gave us access to beaches, of which we enjoyed Kamaole 2 best. We rented a car through National- again, top-notch service. With grocery stores nearby, excellent restaurants like Cafe O Lei and others, we had a great time. Driving toward Hana was fascinating, as was the road toward and beyond Lahaina. Next time we will definitely need more than a week! We would highly recommend this rental- the owner was super friendly and took care of our needs above and beyond!Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, people with disabilities, tourists without a car, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

What can I say...everything was near perfect. We were a group of 5, parents and 3 teens, so accomodation was fine, the kids switched off sleeping in the living room on the sofa bed as it was cooler out there...but overall sleep was comfortable except a wee recommendation for those who sleep lightly: take earplugs. Some of our "later sleepers" didn't appreciate nature. The birds are exotic and make loud strange noises VERY early in the a.m. "sometimes"..., very interesting but annoying to some I suppose...but other than that, everything was perfect. Best parking spot in the house, comfy beds and furniture, well-stocked kitchen and towel supply! Loved the walk-in open shower. Every a.m. ate a quick breakfast packed up cold and frozen water bottles and snacks and just headed down to the beach across the street, the earlier the better. Take masks and snorkels as we always saw big sea turtles to the left point (dividing Kam II and III) We bought 2 new boogie boards and left them @ the condo for others to enjoy! Lots of nice places to eat out if you tire of BBQ'ing. We found the menus cheaper if you do lunch, and Cafe O'Lei is a must! Just north a 5 minute walk or so....if you are brave and want the real breakers for boogie boarding head south to Big Beach. WOW! is all we can say....had a blast over all. One hint about Luau's tho....WE absolutely loved the Old Lahaina Luau....but IF you are not used to crawling along in bumper to bumper traffic from Kihei to get there, either leave in the afternoon, or pick one down in Wailea....the traffic won't be as bad. We left for a 45 minute drive there in 2 hours to spare and it was still crazy! Really, really nice tho....As far as BBQ'ing....the pool and BBQs are so convenient to Bldg. D it couldn't have been better. So clean and well maintained : ) Beautiful flowers falling everywhere so my daughter always had a nice blossom behind her ear ; ) If you are a tea drinker at all I already recommended a kettle for the kitchen, altho a pot did fine. And maybe a metal pan with sides in case of winter stays when you might want to bake something in the oven, there were baking sheets but nothing with sides we could find. Like I said, our stay was near perfect....great for a family of 4 or 5! If you are bored when it gets dark around 7:30 and aren't doing a boardwalk stroll, use that time to shop! Everything is open late-only 20 minutes or so back to Costco,KMart,Whole Foods. And Foodland and Safeway are just down the street!Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, people with disabilities, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

The apratment was just as expexted. the pictures of the rooms and surroundings were very accurate. We had considered staying closer to the beach but couldn't justify the costs. This location was perfect for us as it's only a few minutes from the beach and super close to the pool and BBQ area which we used every night. What a great way to meet people. mostly they were form BC,Canada or Calgary. We even got a cooking lesson one night from a master chef who was also staying in the same complex. We statrted off each morning snorkeling at Kamaole beach 2 which is the beach that is directly down from the complex . Each day we went there were turtles and many tropical fish. After which we we travelled to other beaches everyday and came back at night to eat and watch the beautiful sunsets. I have stayed at the Kihei Akahi now 5 times and have never been disappointed it is very well managed. This was the first 2 bedroom and with 4 people it was plently big enough. Great access. You park your car and walk 30 feet and your in . No stairs no elevators. I have also stayed at some very classy places on Maui and those as well were wonderful but much more expensive. For the money this was great value. We hope to return shorty. Must see's are Ahihi cove for snorkling- La Perouse Bay before 8:00AM and see the dolpins. Favourite beach is D.T Fleming Beach and Slaughterhouse Beach(great beach if you want to get pounded by the waves) as well as Balldwin Beach, Makena beach and of course if you have small children the best beach is a 2 minute walk.Recommended for: Sightseeing, people with disabilities, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

This unit was clean, equipped with all necessary supplies:beach towels, shower towels, linens, dishes, utensils, salt/pepper, and is renovated nicely. I really like how bright the unit is and also how close the parking spot was to the entrance. It is a decent size especially for a couple and 2 children of any age. We enjoyed our stay and would consider renting this property again:-) Mahalo:-)Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, people with disabilities, tourists without a car, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway.

About the owner: I think Kihei is special because I love the ocean and swim every morning if possible. I live in the Seattle area, grew up in St. Louis and think the west coast and Hawaii are a a great place to live and vacation. After working for Bellevue Police Dept for almost 30 years (staff support) I retired and became interested in painting. There are quite a few of my paintings on the walls at D-115 - hope you have a chance to see them.
Why the Owner Chose Kihei Akahi:
My parents vacationed at the Royal Mauian for many years - great place but I couldn't afford a condo there. Kihei Akahi's 2 bedroom has a much larger kitchen, beautiful grounds and 2 pools. Very quiet compared to the Mauian. SO - I'm happy I bought D-115 and hope you can enjoy it too.
The Unique Benefits at this Condo:
This is the best spot in Kihei. The pristine beach is close by, just a few minutes from the condo and across the road. You can spend your entire vacation without a car. Restaurants are within walking distance; also shopping. A grocery store with many organic products is within walking distance and Safeway, Time Foods & Foodland are about 10 minutes away by car. Bars, ice cream parlor, Cinnabun, manicure/pedicure and more. The complex is in a quiet location with 24 hour security on site.
