La Roque has five bedrooms all with en suite bathrooms.
The main bedroom and bathroom are accessed via their own private staircase. It has a king size double bed and floor to ceiling picture windows opening on to its own terrace from which you can enjoy the stunning views.
In the main house there are three further bedrooms with twin beds each with its own bathroom fully modernised in 2010.
There is also a separate gite very close to the main house which has its own bedroom, bathroom and kitchen/sitting room (with an extra sofa bed).
In the main house there is a large sitting room with three sofas and a real fire. There is a separate library with television (including freeview with BBC, dvd player etc), books and lots of games for your children. The kitchen has floor to ceiling windows overlooking the stunning views so is beautifully light and airy.
There is a separate utility room off the kitchen with a Miele washing machine and separate drier and plenty of space for drying clothes.
La Roque is situated in almost 2 hectares of land – with a small olive orchard and woodland. There is plenty of space and privacy to relax and enjoy the beauty of Provence.
Food, wine and markets:
No where in France beats Provence for the food and its markets. Markets can be found every day of the week. From the large market at Carpentras (Friday) to the smaller, more intimate market at Pernes les Fontaines (Saturday). Wines lovers have the full bodied wines of Gigondas, Vacqueyras, Seguret, Sablet and Rasteau to visit as well as the stickies of Beaumes de Venise and the more famous Chateuauneuf-de-Pape.
Tourism and culture:
La Roque is within striking distance of the main cultural and touristic sights of true Provence. Avignon, with the Palais des Papes and famous bridge (30 mins). Excellent Roman remains and amphitheatres can be seen at Vaison La Romaine, Orange and Arles. The wonderful university town of Aix en Provence is only 45 minutes away. Sault, the centre of lavender in France cultivation (30 mins). The Abbey de Senanque (30 mins) is one of the finest Cistercian Monasteries in France. Enjoy the antique market at L’Isle de la Sorgue (20 mins).
Activities and sport:
Walking and Cycling: The world is your oyster. If you have the fitness, do the assent of The Tour de France most famous mountain – Mont Ventoux (20 mins). Otherwise go into the Gorge de la Nesque (10mins) – see photo. Cycling is a passion in these parts. Canoeing: For younger children canoeing can be done at Isle sur la Sorgue or on the Ceze. For older children who want some white water rafting there is the Gorge de L’Ardeche(1 hour). Golf: Two good courses are nearby at Saumane or Avignon. Tennis: There are many tennis courts nearby – both hard courts and clay.

Thank you for a wonderful stay in your beautiful home! We feel lucky to have experienced Provence in such lovely surroundings. We leave very relaxed - we all managed to sleep very late here (even the kids!) Your 'guidebook' was also very much appreciated and utilized!Did you find this review helpful? Connecticut Family CT, USA Review Submitted: July 5, 2011 Date of Stay: June 2011 Just returned from 2 weeks at La Roque and it was heaven. House is spacious and beautifully appointed, grounds are private, views spectacular. The area has tons to do cycling, walking, wine tasting, exploring picture perfect hilltops villages - but our favorite was to bulk up in the local village markets, bring the most fabulously simple foods back and spend the afternoon at the house, eating and relaxing by the pool. The hosts take much care and attention to ensure a wonderful vacation. We will definitely be back soon!! CT, USARecommended for: Romantic getaway, families with teenagers, pet owners, sightseeing, age 55+, adventure seekers.

What a beautiful place, inside and out. Bedrooms and bathrooms are 5-star, but the view from the dining table under the cherry tree is 6-star. We did lots of cultural and sports activities but next time we go, I'll quite happily just sit under that tree, maybe do a few lengths in the pool, and then go back to the tree.Did you find this review helpful? Owner info
Year Purchased: 2010
About the owner: I've been going to this village for the last 40 years. My parents have a house at the other end of the village and in 2010 I had the opportunity to buy the house that I used to go and pick cherries and apricots at when I was a child. I am a publisher of restaurant guides and have always loved food and cooking and there is nowhere like provence for finding the freshest ingredients at anytime of year. I also love cycling and this is a cyclists paradise. Where you want a short half an hour or a more challenging stage of the Tour de France - they are both on your doorstep. Wine lovers will also be in heaven - and those looking for antique or flea markets, you have come to the right place!
