This ended up being the perfect spring break destination for our small family. The beaches were clean and there were no spring break crowds. The condo is only minutes walk from the dunes. The property itself was clean, well-equipped, and quiet. There was plenty of privacy for our family of four. We found the owners to be delightful. There is a property manager of sorts at the pool who is a bit cranky, and we were disappointed when we first arrived and found the pool to be closed for repairs. After a day or so, the pool was reopened. If you enjoy fishing or birding, this is a perfect retreat.

This is our third year in a row to rent Condos 1 and 2. We bring our children and grandchildren and a friend. We like the relaxed and safe feeling the gated area offers. We love sitting on the deck in the a.m. and p.m. and have coffee and look out over the pool. We feed the seagulls from the deck and watch the turtles below in the lagoon. Flocks of pelicans fly overhead several times a day. The beach is clean and natural, complete with shells for collecting. There is good fishing nearby.The condos have lots of room and comfortable furnishings and a full kitchen. We also use the grills that are furnished with each condo. There is lots of privacy from the other condos.We have found everything we could need in the condos and particularly like renting ajoining ones.

Our family stayed in Condo 2 last August and had a great time! We loved the property, especially the pool! We also liked that we could bring our dogs with us, which was very convenient for all of us. We will definitely be going back and hopefully starting a tradition of bringing our family here.

5 ladies set out from the frozen tundra of Minnesota for a Girls Retreat. We wanted a quiet place where we could cook our own meals and just relax. We rented condo 2 and fell in love with Matagorda. We got fresh fish and shrimp to grill from Bubbas (best shrimp ever!!), we walked along the beach several times a day, we hunted for the perfect shells for our kids, we sat on the deck and soaked up the sun while sipping wine, and we laughed a lot. All in all, it was everything we needed! I WILL be bringing my son and husband down to experience Matagorda!! LOVE IT!

We had an awesome vacation at Matagorda. The accomodations were just as described. The weather was perfect and no mosquitos! A short walk or drive to the beach - my favorite place! Our favorite restaurant was Waterfront at the harbor. Palacioius Mexican Restaurant was worth the drive. K-2 Steakhouse in Bay City was very good. Very quiet and relaxing...just what we wanted.

We had a wonderful time in Condo 1. We had a teacher retreat and celebrated a 70 year old birthday, a recent marriage, a surprise pregnancy, and an anniversary. The view was great, the beach was beautiful and the weather cooperated. Our accomodations were everything we had hoped for. We will return. Thank you for everything!

Our family stayed for a week in Condo#2 in Sept. The children are still talking about what a great time we had together. The condo was wonderfully supplied with all the comforts of home. Except for dodging a few mosquitos, thanks to Hurricane Ike, everything was great. The beach was the most beautiful we have seen. We had a great stay and plan to come back. Thanks.

Me and my family celebrated my 17th anniversary here and we had a wonderful time. The condo was spacious and very accomadating. We had a beautiful view. Each morning was very relaxing sitting on the deck drinking coffee and enjoying the morning breeze. My children had a great time in the beautiful pool and loved to watch the turtles in the lagoon. Thanks so much for such a terrific vacation.

We were just looking for a quiet place to spend some family time. We stayed in condo #2 right after Labor Day. The condo was clean and comfortable and very quiet. The beach was also pretty unpopulated.

Hello, Well you cant go wrong with a stay in Condo #2! We stayed a week and it was the rainest in history but it didnt stop us from having a wonderful time- The condo has a great view and has everything you will need in the kitchen, bathrooms and WIRELESS internet! I was a happy woman- Didnt want to come home- You'll have a great time so go ahead and book your vacation- We stayed from June 29th to July 6th- Very comfortable- Thanks John! Regards CK

We arranged a week's visit here on the WEB, taking what we considered a big gamble in order to see young relatives who had just moved to TX; spent Christmas week in Condo 1 and found it just right for us, 2 small dogs, and visitors. The well-equipped kitchen made preparing the wonderful seafood available nearby too easy (!), good FM radio, PBS on the TV, a great table for jigsaw puzzles, amazingly nice weather, and the beautiful beach for great walks. Considerate and helpful owners (does everybody get a bag full of ripe avocados?). Definitely worth a second or third or fourth visit! Thanks!

Our stay in Condo #1 was stress free. All we had to bring was our food and our clothes. The pool was a refreshing alternative to the beach, and the kids loved fishing in the lagoon. The ice machine was a plus!

We leased Condo 1 and 2 to celebrate the safe return of our son from Kuwait and had 12 people there ranging from ages 6 months to 79 years. The condos were spacious, very comfortable, and furnished with more than everything we needed. We had a wonderful time walking the beach, swimming in the adjacent pool, fishing in the surf,and reading on the spacious decks. Everyone enjoyed themselves.

We have the opportunity to rent this condo after the hurricane Rita. We enjoy our stay on the condo 2. The view is remarkable and the place is very clean. I also appreciate that the owner are pet friendly, we are going back again maybe this summer'06. The owners are also easy to talk to, i never had a problem.

This is a great spot for a family vacation. We rented both units and had family and friends down. We had plenty of room for privacy and balcony was a great place to sit and enjoy the view. The beach was very nice. There is plenty to do for the kids. We went crabbing almost every day and caught enough for dinner. The pool is a great spot to relax after a day at the beach. We look forward to returning this summer.

We really enjoyed our weekend in Matagorda. The condo was very clean and slept 5 adults very easily. We also appreciated the owners being dog friendly and allowing us to take our Golden Retriever. It is only 2 hours from Houston so we will go back again.

Our family had the pleasure of staying in both Condo 1 & Condo 2 for two nights a while back and we could have not been more at home. The Condo's were both clean, well kept, and we really enjoyed the pool. We will be staying in one of the Condo's again this June hopefully.

Our stay at Matagorda Dunes was wonderful. The proximity to the beach was terrific for our fishing expeditions. The condo has everything you need to be comfortable - just bring your food and you are ready to go! The rental process was very easy - everything was completed online.

We stayed in condo 2 two years ago. We had a great time. The pool area is a great place for children and families. Condo was very clean. Would have stayed in this condo again last Memorial Day, but it was already booked, luckly we found another one. We like Matagorda!

Our family REALLY enjoyed our summer break at the condos. A short walk to the beach, beautiful onsite pool and clubhouse and convenient laundry room made our stay comfortable. The landscaping is enjoyable and relaxing. Our condo slept all 6 (7 including our puppy) with plenty of space and the kitchen had everything we needed for home cooking. Restaurants and shopping -and fresh gulf shrimp!- are only 10 minutes into town. We would stay again.

We had a wonderful weekend. It was nice to get out of the city for the weekend. The beach was clean and the Condo was more than we could have ever hoped for. What a great place to relax. The distance from Houston makes it so ideal for a quick weekend get-away.. Our Grandson loved the surfing and is still talking about that weekend. Well I liked it when I stayed in Matagorda it was very nice and peaceful , and the surf was off the hook , I was the only surfer out there whats up with that ? It was very mellow can't ask for anything more !!!

Our stay in the condo was a very enjoyable one. You have plenty of room, everything is clean and neat and the beach is just a few steps away. The owners are very courteous and prompt to any needs that you have. They conduct themselves in a very professional and friendly manner. My husband & I can highly recommend condo #2 after spending 2 nights there. Spent a lot of time sipping coffee on the decks in the mornings and watching the birds on the lagoon. The beach is just a short walk over the dunes and was very clean and deserted (in early April). We brought our kayak and paddled around the marshes and bay for several hours, seeing many birds and very few people. We will definitely come again.

We were very happy with condo unit #2. The view from dining rm was even better than it appeared on the website. Clean, comfortable with well equiped kitchen in a beautiful setting. Only suggestion I might make would be a queen size bed in master bedroom. The beach was wonderful to visit, especially after a stormy day when swept clean. Impressed with the variety of birds just within the lagoon area and so many more nearby. Coming from Michigan we were concerned about booking without first seeing the condo, but were pleasantly surprised. Would love to stay again.

My husband and I spent 2 weeks in the Matagorda condo, 1 week in Condo 1 and 1 week in Condo 2. Both are highly recommended. We are birders and were thrilled at the number and diversity of birds in the area. The condo made a great base for various birding expeditions in the area. We had originally only rented the condo for one week but a trip to the emergency room at the Bay City Hospital required us to stay another week and we were fortunately able to extend our stay. We found that the owners were quick to respond to any questions we had and rate this rental a 10+ in our book.

I stayed in Condo 2 over the Labor Day weekend, and despite the weather, my guests and I had an amazing time. The condo was very, very clean. There were clean towels in the bathroom, clean dishes in the kitchen, and clean sheets on every bed. I would definitely recommend renting the condo for some fun or just some peace and quiet. Thanks to the owners for letting me rent such a great place!

08/12/03 We stayed in unit 2 right after the storm. We were extremely surprised how clean the unit and pool were. The satellite dish and everything else were all in working order. We had 8 in our group - there was plenty of space. We had a great time and did not expect such a nice unit.
