Our cabin provides a great base for desert explorations, or just a place to get away from it all. Located on a dirt road (just a short distance from a paved road, and suitable for cars), on five acres with Joshua trees, creosote bushes, cactus and a variety of desert wildlife wandering through the property, you can relax here in between hikes and day trips, or just kick it on the back porch and look out at Goat Mountain to the north, or the desert night sky.
Perfect for a couple who wants to turn off the distracting gadgetry of everyday life, our cabin is rustic yet comfortable and equipped for a relaxing stay, whether for a weekend, week, or an extended retreat. The futon sofa pulls out for a bed for two more guests. There's an industrial-strength evaporative ("swamp") cooler for when it's hot (and a ceiling fan in the living room), and gas heat for when it's not. There's a color TV with DVD player, and a CD player with an I-pod dock and an eclectic music collection of desert music and bands with desert ties. We're creating a collection of desert reading and videos for the cabin as well, to stir the imagination.
The kitchen is set to prepare your hearty breakfast or evening dinner under the stars. From the cabin it's a short drive to the base of Goat Mountain where you can hike to the top and peer down into an old gold mine or two (be careful around mine shafts!). Nearby is the Integration with its legendary sound baths, Gubler's Orchids, Giant Rock with its amazing history, and, of course, Joshua Tree National Park. If you want day trip and hiking suggestions, we'll provide them, or you can just do nothing and enjoy the fresh desert breezes and delightful night skies.
If you have a special request or need more information, always feel free to contact us. It is our goal that you enjoy your visit to the hi-desert as much as possible.

Why the Owner Chose Joshua Tree
We live in the hi-desert, about 10 minutes from the cabin. We decided to purchase a vacation rental property in this area because it is such a great central base to explore the desert - near to so many things, while far enough out to be a great escape from "civilization."
The Unique Benefits of this Cabin
Our cabin is close to many hi-desert locations of interest. Whether it's hiking through old mining districts, or taking a scenic drive through Joshua Tree National Park, day-tripping out old Route 66, or heading up to the nearby mountains to go fishing, our cabin provides a great base for desert visits. Our cabin is close to the Integratron, a Thai Buddhist monastery, Gubler's Orchids, the hiking trail to the top of Goat Mountain, Giant Rock, Pioneertown, Joshua Tree National Park, the Johnson Valley Off-Road Vehicle Recreation Area, and much more. We explore the desert as part of producing The Sun Runner Magazine, so if you're looking for suggestions for anything from dining out to where to find wildflowers, whether you want to go shopping for antiques, or you want to hike to a real palm oasis, we can help make your stay as eventful and fulfilling as possible.
