Location: Mi-Wuk Village, Gold Country & High Sierra, California, USA (Near Pinecrest Lake and Dodge Ridge Ski Resort)
Accommodations: Cabin, 3 Bedrooms + Loft, 2.5 Baths (Sleeps 12)
Keywords: Cabin
Our cozy, yet spacious chalet is located where Mi-Wuk Village meets the Stanislaus National Forest. The chalet is on over half an acre and has three levels with more than 1600 square feet. Mi-Wuk Village is above the snow line, yet only 150 miles from the Bay Area.
The main floor opens into a cathedral ceilinged room that includes the living room, dining room and kitchen. Two sliding glass doors lead out to a large deck with a beautiful view of the forest and the sounds of a stream. This floor has two bedrooms and a full bath. Upstairs is a large loft bedroom with a half bath. Downstairs is a large family room with two futon couches, another full bath and laundry.
The Stanislaus National Forest is Hearthstone’s backyard. Discover great hiking at various difficulty levels or just hang out on the deck and enjoy the view and sounds. The cabin has games, puzzles, and a hammock. Pinecrest Lake, which is 15 minutes away, offers swimming, boat rentals (kayaks, paddle-boats, canoes, sailboats, and motorboats), and great fishing.
The small town of Mi-Wuk Village is one mile away and Twain Harte has great shopping just three and a half miles down the mountain. Enjoy wildflowers in the spring. And in the winter, Dodge Ridge Ski Resort is only 15 miles away. Cross-country skiing, snowmobiling, and sledding are nearby.
The cabin easily sleeps 12 people. Each bedroom on the main floor has a queen-size bed. The loft bedroom has a queen-size bed and two twin beds. The two full-size futon couches in the family room make into comfortable beds. Each bed has a warm, down comforter and soft pillows. There are plenty of extra blankets. While we do have linens for your use, we recommend you bring your own sheets and towels so you don’t have to do laundry before you leave.
The well-equipped kitchen is stocked with basic spices, oils, and condiments and has place settings for 12. We have sleds in the winter and iner tubes for the summer. A washer and dryer are in the family room. There is a TV , VCR and DVD if you wish to bring movies.

Owner's Profile
Owner Description
Year Purchased: 2004
Two families own this lovely retreat in the mountains. We go up as often as we can. Though not nearly as much as we would like. We all live in Berkeley, CA. One family has two teenagers. One has two preschoolers. They keep us busy.
Why the Owner Chose Mi-Wuk Village
We all love the beauty of the Sierra mountains. We chose to be at the snow line so we would have a lot of Sugar Pines and Ceders, but not too far up the mountain so it would be closer to home. We like that it is only 140 miles from the Bay Area.
The Unique Benefits of this Cabin
The two sets of large sliding glass doors that lead to a deck with a view only of trees makes the cabin feel so secluded. We love the three levels and the three bathrooms. It means that you can bring up a whole bunch of people and not feel crowded. The location makes it easy to get to stores in Twain Harte or Sonora, and equally easy to get to the Higher Sierras and Pinecrest Lake.

I rented this cabin for a week for my step brothers and sisters who were coming to California for a family reunion/birthday celebration. Communicating email with the owner was excellent and all my questions were answered in a timely fashion. My main thing was I needed private sleeping quarters for 4 couples and this cabin worked perfectly. The family just LOVED staying here and raved on and on about it. They said it was well stocked with everything they needed, the deck was wonderful--each morning they had breakfast there and each evening the star gazed. :) They also saw quite a few deer pass by the cabin. They also loved the peace and quiet the cabin offered. The layout of the cabin worked great for them, gave them the privacy they wanted, but then they could gather on the deck or in the very large living room downstairs and be all together. They also loved that each level had it's own bathroom. The info sheet the owner sent was wonderful...very clear instructions. Also their info sheet regarding local activities was TOP NOTCH! Would def. use this cabin again and would recommend to others. Thank you so much for a wonderful stay!

I have stayed here twice now and both times were just perfect. The first time we had 8 adults and 8 children staying there and while we were a tiny bit crowded, it actually worked out great. The second time it was 2 adults and 4 kids and it was a lot more quiet and almost peaceful (it's never actually peaceful with my kids around though). The downstairs space was great for getting the kids to go play and leave the adults in peace for a few minutes. The kids also loved going up to the loft to look down on the rest of us. The place was well stocked even for handling it when there were 16 of us there. The house was clean, extremely comfortable, and shockingly well stocked. Not only was it was well stocked with things we would want around while cooking dinner, but it was well stocked with tissues, toilet paper, napkins, extra light bulbs, etc. There was a folder filled with all sorts of great tips about where to get food, where to eat, where to go for all sorts of summer and winter activities. They even had extra sleds and extra winter clothes available. The owner was unbelievably helpful answering our many questions and making sure everything was perfect. The only down sides were that none of us had cell phone coverage there on either trip (AT&T and T-Mobile cell phones) and there was no internet access. They are fine with you using the house phone though.

This chalet is a beautiful place that is so clean and well laid out. We were all so pleased and felt right at home. I've been to rental houses where they don't even have salt or paper towels so we brought literally everything with us. It was a pleasant surprise that it was stocked with all the basics...it made us feel really welcome. We loved walking around the back of the property and playing on the rope swing. So gorgeous back there! The view from the large deck is priceless!

I had a great visit. There are so many things to do in the area. We went to Pinecrest lake and rented paddle boats-they have motor boats, kayaks, and canoes too. It was fun to see the Dam and go swimming in the the lake. My son went to a local skatepark behind the Sonora Hospital. We went to the movies and Columbia Park is a great day trip. It is a working town that dates back to the gold rush days. The cabin was very spacious, and had all the things we needed. The neighborhood is very quiet and relaxing. The time we spent together was very nice and enjoyable. We look forward to doing it again sometime. Pat Hogle

What a wonderful cabin! It was clean and comfortable. They layout worked so well for our family. It was great to have a place the kids could play downstairs. We found everything we needed - you really paid attention to all the details. We loved the sense of being away from it all... stargazing from the deck at night and hearing the babbling brook in the morning. Thank you for sharing this treasure with our family.

The house is very nice and homey. We enjoyed sitting out on the deck and enjoying the view of the trees and wildlife. The house is in a nice neighborhood for walking or taking a run.
