Our group rented this property to do some fall hiking in the West Kootenays as the days are too short for camping trips at this time of year. It more than met our needs. Mark welcomed our extra guests parking their camper on the property. The kitchen served 13 women well. The huge sitting room with fire place was wonderful as was the deck overlooking the lake. What a view!! The property could do with some upgrades but was more that adequate for our purposes. Would recommend it for any group or family gathering. The hiking was fantastic....even with the snow storm at Monica Meadows!Recommended for: Girls getaway, adventure seekers, families with teenagers, age 55+, sightseeing, families with young children, people with disabilities.

We just got back from a week at Dayspring Lodge where we shared the house with two other couples who are friends of ours. I can honestly say, this was one of the most enjoyable trips we have ever taken. The house is very large and has fantastic views from just about everywhere, especially the front deck, which became our favorite place to start and end the day. The serenity and beauty from that deck is priceless. The owners were also extremely helpful, and gave us all sorts of tips on trails to hike, places to eat, and things to do, and every one of those things proved to be just right. Jacqui is an avid hiker and knows the area better than anyone, so the first morning we were there, she showed up at the door with four pages of handwritten notes on all kinds of suggestions for activities. We ended up using it almost as a checklist and were able to complete almost the entire list. Mark offered to “drive” a large boat we rented and we all had a wonderful tour of Kootenay Lake, including a stop for a picnic lunch in a beautiful secluded beach on the other side of the lake. The entire Kaslo area is a nature lover’s paradise, so if you like hiking and having been there, you need to include it in your “bucket list.” The same goes for the town itself. It’s small, peaceful, beautiful, and friendly. Idyllic. I think about the only thing I could say that would have made our stay there even more perfect is that the upstairs floor needed another bathroom. There were four bedrooms on that floor but only one bathroom, and that bathroom was inside one of the bedrooms. So the other couple staying upstairs had to use one of the two bathrooms downstairs. Another thing to note: three of the bedrooms may be too bright for people to sleep in. One has no curtains, one has very light curtains, and the other has curtains on one window only. But even with these small inconveniences, we would gladly go back to Dayspring Lodge. Everything else more than made up for that. We are hoping to go back some time soon. Great vacation, great place!Recommended for: Romantic getaway, girls getaway, adventure seekers, families with teenagers, age 55+, sightseeing.
Owner response: Thanks for the great review. Your suggestion to block out the early sun over the lake has been met with new curtains! I look forward to showing you some more mountain trails with awesome views,

My wife and I celebrated our 50th anniversary here with the whole family. it was perfect in every way as there was plenty of space for us all to enjoy ourselves and still have lots of privacy. Dayspring has a gorgeous location and is beautifully designed. We especially enjoyed the walks along the lake to the waterfall and the nearby hotsprings. Kaslo is a real treasure!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

This was one of our very best family vacations. We enjoyed the big kitchen for our passion for cooking and the wonderful views. Jacqueline took us on two amazing hikes right up to the glaciers. Our teenagers were thrilledDid you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0
