I absolutely was charmed by this little retreat which was tucked away on a quiet sidestreet in the Mesa area of Santa Barbara. The owners, Anna & Barry, keep it immaculate and have it decorated with simple elegance. I really felt right at home during my 3 night stay. The retreat is only a 5 minute walk from the beach, which offers long stretches of sun and sand, and an easy stroll down to Hendry's Beach where you can stop at The Boathouse Restaurant (?) for a meal or a refreshing drink while gazing at the enchanting ocean view. Only minutes by car from downtown, UCSB and dozens of other tourist attractions. The retreat is a real gem, and definitely worth returning to on my next visit to beautiful Santa Barbara.

Barry and Anna are so nice and are wonderful as I arrived at their Island View Couples Nest. I enjoyed the view and a cup of coffee (coffee maker in the room) from the amazing patio on the 2nd story of the patio. The place is BEAUTIFUL and relaxing! I loved the access to the beach cruiser bikes (free of charge) and was able to ride each morning to the beach and sight-see! I loved the warmth and cozy feeling from the fireplace! I am looking forward to another visit!

Anna and Barry were wonderful hosts. They provided us with information for hikes, restaurants, grocery, etc. They were there if we needed but gave us the privacy that we wanted. The apartment was nicely decorated and spotlessly clean. It was nice to have a small refrigerator and microwave. We enjoyed sitting on the balcony patio sipping the local wine that Anna provided as we watched the sunset. This was our first trip to Santa Barbara. It is a beautiful place to visit. We hope to return, and will definitely rent this lovely apartment again.

My wife and I stayed 6 nights while visiting family in the area. The facilities were wonderful and the owners were very pleasant and thoughtful. It's a very convenient location to stores, services, and downtown. And the neighborhood is charming. Good spaces, with drawers and places to hang clothes. Room to do what needs to be done. A generous bathroom and dressing area. Fine bed and a sweet little heater when needed. But the air is fresh. The unit is on the second floor, with fantastic views. We made coffee and our own breakfast on the outdoor deck. Convenient park. Excellent walking locations in the neighborhood. The place was very clean and well provisioned. You could enjoy just hanging around in this unit.

Great place, great hosts. This property is in the middle of a residential area and just a short walk to the beach. The upstairs unit has its own entrance and parking in the driveway make it easy to come and go. The owners gave some great restaurant suggestions which we took advantage of. Bottle of wine, great coffee, flavored creamers, bottled water, energy bars were there waiting for us. Would definitely recommend this for couples wanting to stay in Santa Barbara.

Excellent Mini Honeymoon Escape

The "Nest" was the perfect place for us newlyweds. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Santa Barbara and we felt right at home. We were only there for a few days and had a jam packed agenda, but we were always excited to return to the comforts of the Nest. It was very well kept and everything that you could think that you needed was provided by the hosts, including a bottle of wine! They were also very welcoming and provided us with a great overview of the area upon our arrival. Also the short walk from the unit to the beach, and then the beautiful walk along the beach to The Boathouse, was simply amazing. I will definitely choose the Nest again when we return to Santa Barbara. Thanks for making our stay so memorable.

We were in Santa Barbara to attend a friend's wedding and opted for a vacation rental instead of a hotel to be able to possibly be able to enjoy the town during the short time we were there. The location of the home is ideal and literally down the street from a private beach where there were only locals with their dogs and children. The accomodations were all neat and tidy and well thought out. Anna and Barry introduced themselves to us upon arrival and were very kind and helpful but not at all intrusive. Our favorite part was riding the Huffy bikes (provided) to the local market down the street to pick up lunch, then grabbing the Tommy Bahama chairs (also provided) and heading down to the beach down the street for lunch and some relaxation before needing to get ready for the wedding. We had a great time and would definitely return for a stay when we find ourselves back in Santa Barbara! =)

we stayed for 3 nights. Our host was so sweet and welcoming. The house was spotless and perfect for our adult get away. I loved the location, nestled in a cute older neighborhood, 1/2 block to the beach. State street was actually close enough to ride bikes to...or even walk if you are active. I was able to get my runs in! Every amentity you need is right around the corner. For the slightly alternative,I recommend taking a bit of a day and drivinb up to Cold Springs Tavern for some live music and atmosphere. Kudos to the adorable garden....I wish I could turn my Colorado garden into a succulent garden! When we come back to SB we will be staying again :) loved it

I stayed here for 4 nights to visit my elderly Mom. Visiting my Mom had a few challenges as her 93 years are catching up to her. So, it was a godsend to come back every night to this property to relax. The bed was fabulous, the accomadations very pretty, with great views and lots of natural light, the wine the owners left was generous as the snacks and tea and coffee. Not to mention the tub and shower plus highly esthetic look to the place. The garden was also a pleasure to see. I also had several pleasant conversations with the owners, who were willing to please in anyway they could. I would highly recomend this acomadation.

A great first experience with VRBO

My fiance and I were in town for a friend's wedding and choose to stay at Island View Couples Nest rather than the hotel that our friend had reserved. Neither of us had used VRBO before and had no idea what to expect. I think it is safe to say that our experience has us hooked. Anna and Barry were so helpful and hospitable, provided fabulous recommendations and nice surprises (yummy Santa Barbara wine to welcome us). We highly recommend this place and on our next visit we can't wait to try out their new addition, kayak rentals!

A wonderful weekend in a relaxing home next to the beach

Owners are very welcoming and professional. The condo is complete and the patio is really nice. a 5 min walk takes to a gorgeous cliff where you can walk the stairs down to the beach. The beach cruiser bikes were also pretty fun.

Perfect in every way!

My husband and I both work with special needs students, so we need our vacations to be relaxing...and staying here made our vacation just perfect. We were close to a variety of beaches for surfing (his needs) and to beautiful places outside of the tourist hell of downtown Santa Barbara. The Nest was only a quick drive, nice walk if we want to explore around town, but was soooo conveniently located by the highway that we were able to get out and go to the places that we really wanted to see. We were also just a block from our own beach too, so yes perfect location. Our hosts, Anna and Barry had some amazing recommendations from places to eat (try Rose's for Mexican food and Mexico Fresh for the best fish tacos) to surf spots (Jalama beach). The rental was beautiful, and so light and airy. Everything was indeed perfect :) We'll be coming back to Santa Barbara, as we're actually hoping to move there in a few years, and we would definitely stay at this same place again.

Cozy, clean, private rental with inviting hosts! Just minutes to beach!

We stayed there for two weeks and had a wonderful time! The owner's were warm and welcoming! Our rental was the top floor of their house with only outside access. They were available when we needed anything but did not encroach on our privacy at all! The first night we got there just in time to check in and walk to the beach with some wine, cheese and bread to watch an amazing sunset! (make sure you check the tide times-when high tide you have to go to another area), Unfortunately, when biting into the Ciabatta bread, my boyfriend broke part of a tooth that was crowned many years ago. We knocked on the owners door when we returned and they were very helpful and caring! They made sure we had all information we needed in case the tooth needed to be repaired the next day. Fortunately it broke in a way that we could wait until we returned home to have it fixed. We loved riding the bikes down the Mesa to the Marina/Pier areas, Unfortunately someone cut through the bike locks and stole the bikes while we were eating! We called the owners to get information to file a claim with the marina patrol; the owner's came immediately to help with the claim and give us a ride back (We could have taken a bus or walked). Another little calamity we encountered and the owners went above and beyond to help. They were not upset and did not blame. Our third "calamity" was a flat tire, They saw it before we did and there was an air compressor near the car! The owner got it out for us and then helped with the tire so we could exchange the rental car. All minor incidents, but we felt almost like we had family we could call on if needed! The rental was very clean, quiet, serene, and the outdoor deck was wonderful. The weather was mostly great (even ubn Jan) so we used the patio a lot (Wifi, reading, sharing a snack, or just relaxing). We did a lot of hiking in the area, a couple days exploring the wine country, some time exploring the beach. I especially enjoyed taking photos of the sea life at low tide. When you go down the steps to the beach walk to the left and you will find our favorite spot! Seating indoor and out. We had breakfast there a couple times, happy hour one night, and dinner at least once. It is great and easy to get to! We walked down the beach (If tide low), one night we stayed too long and had to walk back on the road - but no big deal. It is also just a short drive. Overall, I would highly recommend this property and hope to return!

We had such a lovely time staying at this property. The owners were very sweet. It is nice and private even though you are staying in a part of the home, you have a separate entrance. The accommodations are beautiful, the deck nice to sit on, and nice touches, like bottled water, snacks, wine and coffee maker. We wished we would have had more time to enjoy the beach being so close and the use of the bikes, maybe next time. You won't be sorry when you stay here. It is much nicer than a hotel, and in a very convenient location.

Escaped to this beautiful home for three nights and what a treat. Enjoyed the mesa area of Santa Barbara, from going on long runs, to long bike rides or simply walking to the beach and the nature preserve all close by. My wife and I stayed here for only 2 nights, and we wish we could have stayed many more! This is a perfect place for a couple to stay in Santa Barbara.. with the entire private upstairs suite of the house. The jacuzzi tub is a great amenity, & there's a great view from the balcony. The owners, Anna & Barry, really go out of their way to make you feel welcome with a bottle of local wine & snacks. Their landscaping is beautiful with an orange and lemon tree in the yard. It was great to stay in a residential neighborhood, where we could walk to the beach and even ride the new bikes they provided. Downtown SB is a 5 to 10 minute drive from the house. We would definitely stay here again!

so loved spending a luxurious, relaxing, and peaceful stay for my husband's 40th birthday weekend! as soon as you arrive, the quiet calm and perfect quaint little setting of the island view nest will fill you with serenity and bliss-only to continue for the duration of your stay! our hosts, anna and barry were so thoughtful-leaving a little 'happy birthday' balloon as a surprise, and also insisting that we move our car into their secure, private driveway for convenience, as well as suggesting some sights and restaurants for us to be sure and try! (we did, and loved them all!) there are bikes to ride, a jetted sunken tub to unwind in, and even coffee, wine, and pastries too! the location is steps away from the beautiful beach, and super close to town as well. we are planning to find a way back just so we can take advantage of everything there is to do at the island view! love love love it, and you will too!

Here are a few noteworthy items we discussed during our stay: We arrived very late, but the owners still came out to meet us. It was so generous letting us use the driveway to park, making unloading the car easy. Wine and snacks were complimentary. The bed was perfect to sleep on, the linens and towels were exceptional, high quality. The TV had a wide selection of channels, which we watched during stormy weather. How wonderfully close was the beach access, just a couple minutes’ walk under aromatic eucalyptus trees. The shopping center and barber shop were so handy, yet downtown was only a short drive. The heat came on just as we were feeling chilled at night—perfect. The shower was nice too, and I felt guilty enjoying it a bit longer than necessary. The refrigerator was very handy as was the microwave; closet space was generous. A nice carpet to walk on, and a great idea to leave shoes downstairs for cleanliness. Ample lighting, clean mirrors and glass, beautiful artwork very appropriate for the setting. Wonderful quiet, always thought we were alone in the house. No words are adequate to describe the beauty and variety of the outside plantings and yard. We will never forget our stay in Santa Barbara and we will come back, if we can stay here again. We were treated like family.

We had a great time at the "nest". We rode bikes, walked on the beach, and had a great time sitting out on the balcony with a bottle of champagne. The view was amazing! It was the perfect little romantic getaway for us.

What a delight it was to stay here! Everything about this place is beautiful, immaculate and with attention to detail you don't often see in a vacation rental. The photos are on VRBO are nice, but really don't reflect how lovely it is. The weather was gorgeous during my stay so the view of Santa Cruz Island from the bedroom window was such a treat. Don't miss out on this one!

What a lovely place to get a way for a couple days. The room was charming, very, very clean. The owners were very thoughtful and had done many nice things to make you feel welcome. We loved the Santa Barbara wine and the bikes. My favorite part of staying in the couple's nest was feeling like a local, We rode our bikes around the neighborhoods, walked the beaches, and had a lovely time. THANK YOU for opening your beautiful home up.
