Home was completely cleaned before guests' arrival;there is one hard water stain in bathroom but baths were cleaned with clorox.New Orleans does not have soft water so it's easy for plumbing to stain. Many people have loved the downstairs bed which is firm but that is a personal choice. Also,New Orleans uptown homes are 100 yrs.old with lots of character;they are not new and perfect. We feel customer was unhappy because she wanted to bring her daughter's dying dog and we can not accommodate pets. To compare New Orleans rates with Monroe, La. is not justified.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

The location and accommodations were adequate but the house was not cleaned before we arrived. Also the downstairs bedroom bed was so hard I had to get a foam mattress in order to sleep on it. Perhaps we are just germophiles and custom softer beds but I spent several sleepless nights and we were disgusted by the dust and dirt. The toilets were not clean, neither was the bathtubs and showers. We felt like we were ripped off by the price for the quality. We have photos of the dirt and grime but I do not see an option to upload them here.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

We cannot say enough nice things about this place. We were in town for the Alabama / LSU BCS game on 1/9, arrived to New Orleans on Saturday, 1/7. Our wives were pleasantly surprised since the guys are the ones who found and booked this place. Victory for the boys on this choice for sure. There was plenty of room for us, we loved the layout and location of the home. Very close to public transportation at St. Charles streetcar if you prefer to leave your car here at the house or if the group is going in multiple directions. Great restaurants and grocery stores nearby as well. Favorite parts of the home were the garden area (great place for morning coffee or cocktail hour), the kitchen, and the front porch. I appreciated having wireless access as well as all 4 of us were using iPhones, iPads, or similar. All electronics worked great. Thanks to the owners of this great home, they were fantastic to work with on this place. I would stay here again for Jazz festival or maybe a future NFL Super Bowl or college bowl game. Restaurants I would recommend are: Commander's Palace, Jacques Imo's, Mr. B's, Mother's, and Court of 2 Sisters. This was my first trip to New Orleans and it certainly won't be my last.Recommended for: Girls getaway, sightseeing, age 55+, tourists without a car, adventure seekers, romantic getaway.

My family (2 young kids and 2 adults) stayed for 3 days in March 2010. This house was 1/2 of a charming small duplex type house in a clean safe area of the garden district, very close to Audobon park and Tulane/Loyola university, and easy walking distance to the St. Charles streetcar line. There was a Rite-Aid drug store within 10 minutes walk to get any basic food or other necessities. We drove to the French Quarter each day, but you could easily take the Streetcar (for $1.25 pp) or a Taxi if you wanted. The house was very clean with an upstairs bedroom, full kitchen, formal dining room, formal living room, downstairs living room, and downstairs bedroom. Off-street parking for one car was nice as street parking was usually full. Owner was very nice and gave good suggestions on nearby restaurants. Only complaint would be the house was that the neighbors in the other 1/2 of the house were a noisy - not that they were loud themselves, but you could hear every time when they walked up/down the stairs on their side of the house. Definitely would be willing to stay at this place again if coming to New Orleans.Recommended for: Girls getaway, families with young children, sightseeing, age 55+, families with teenagers, tourists without a car, adventure seekers, romantic getaway.
Owner response: Actually our home is not in the Garden District but in the University area or Audubon Park area and near Riverbend. The Garden District is closer to Jackson Av. towards the CBD. Our neighborhood is like living in a garden with lush vegetation all around and historic homes also, same ambiance.
