Brooklyn townhome description

Our four-story 1863 brick rowhouse is on a quiet, tree-lined street in a landmarked Historic District that is one of the most convenient locations within 'Brownstone Brooklyn' (see google streetview link below). This large apartment is a lovely, charming, furnished two-bedroom unit with hardwood floors throughout (~1100 sq. ft.) - the perfect combination of class and amenities.

This 2BR gem has a full modern kitchen, free WiFi, a shared garden with flagstone patio, wrought-iron table/chairs, and barbecue grill. There is an LCD TV w/ DVD player (over-the-air channels only: over 50 channels, including ABC, NBC, CBS, Fox, PBS, and many more), as well as a music docking station/speaker (compatible with iPod, iPhone, and other music players).

One bedroom is tastefully furnished with a queen-sized cherry bedroom set. The other bedroom contains a bunk bed with firm mattresses designed for adults (plus a trundle mattress for a youth). A sleeper sofa in the living room brings total accomodations to up to 7 persons. Perfect for families and children!

You can find everything you need in the neighborhood: outstanding restaurants (it's a foodie hotspot!) - a small sampling from our favorites: James (1/2 block away), Ideya (1 block), The Vanderbilt (3 blocks), and Franny's (3 blocks); cafes/coffee shops; boutique shops; gourmet groceries; beautiful streets to explore; Prospect Park; Brooklyn Museum; Brooklyn Botanic Garden; Brooklyn Academy of Music; Crunch gym; Barclays Center; and so much more!

There is plenty of free on-street parking (off-street pay parking garage nearby).

Given our close proximity to major subway lines (1 block away) and short 15-min ride to Manhattan, the apartment is perfect for those who want to explore New York while enjoying the charm of brownstone Brooklyn!

We know that traveling can be stressful at times and our goal is to make your stay with us a memorable and comfortable one. Get one of the best deals around in one of the coolest neighborhoods of New York!

We loved the charm of this property. A very easy and quick trip on the Subway to Manhattan. The 7th Ave Station is only a block and a half away. All of your cooking needs are at your fingertips. A big thank you too for helping us out when our daughter locked us out of the bedroom too. We loved Monday night Burger Night at James too !!! We will definitely be looking at staying here again should we return to New York.

Were sorry we did not stay here longer!! We stayed in this apartment for 3 days before heading into Manhattan to be closer to family who were also visiting NYC. We were sad we left. Our party were 2 adults, 4 teens and 2 children and this was very comfortable and homely for us. Although the subway ride was a little longer from Brooklyn to NYC Centre, it was very convenient; if we came back to NYC we would certainly stay here rather than being closer in. It was a refuge from the busy days out and much better value. The owner was wonderful to deal with; friendly, welcoming, efficient and accommodating. The pictures are a true representation. Although the apartment is in the lower level, there was plenty of light and you did not feel closed in. The apartment was tastefully decorated with extra touch additions including fresh poinsettias for Christmas. This felt like home as soon as you walked in. It was a great neighborhood and we felt safe at all times. Everything we needed was conveniently located. We wish to thank the owners for having us stay and for your extra touches. If we make it back to New York, we will certainly be calling on you first to ensure your apartment is available.

Our family of 4 (including 2 teenagers) stayed here for a long weekend. We hated to leave! Extremely clean, well furnished, crisp and comfortable apartment. Great safe neighborhood, simple to navigate in to the city from 2 nearby subway stops. Diverse friendly neihborhood feel - so much better feel for"real" NY than staying at a hotel. We appreciated the little luxuries, like plush, thick bath towels, high end bed linens, and beautiful simple furniture. We would highly recommend -- hoping we can return again some time.

You will feel at home. The owners have furnished the apartment as if they were living in it and not renting it out. Everything you need is there: all kitchen appliances, washer and dryer, TV, wifi. Close to the subway (Q train - major line), Brooklyn Botanical Gardens, Prospect Park. The neighborhood is friendly, people on the street said Good Morning as we passed by. We are a couple with two grown children. We stayed five full days enjoying NY and would come back each day in the evening to this apartment where we felt so comfortable. In short, I can't praise it enough.

We were looking for accommodation for a last minute trip to NYC with our two teens. We loved this charming 2 bedroom apartment; the garden level of a classic brownstone. With a great kitchen, lots of room and wifi included, we couldn't have done better. The apartment is literally steps from the subway and 15 minutes into lower Manhattan. Street parking is at first a bit intimidating due to the city's street cleaning by-laws, but our host was very helpful and we were able to park conveniently for several days and see the city on foot and by subway without any concerns. The neighbourhood is bustling, friendly and felt safe. It was a treat to visit NYC and feel part of the city. Highly recommended.

This was my fourth trip to NYC and I have always stayed in a hotel in Manhattan. I wanted to do something different this time and this was perfect! It was great to come "home" to a quiet neighborhood after a day in Manhattan or exploring Brooklyn. Easy commute to the subway! The owners have the place well stocked and David is very helpful and friendly! I highly recommend staying here!

I just returned from a short stay at this property and it was everything described in the listing and more. I was traveling with a friend and two college age daughters and we enjoyed having a beautiful clean apartment to return to each day. This was our first visit to Brooklyn and we only wish we had planned more time to be able to spend in the area surrounding the apartment. We stayed here while going back and forth to Manhattan, which was a very easy commute, but we would have liked another day or two to explore the shops, restaurants, and the park in the immediate area. Everyone was extremely friendly and we always felt very safe. I look forward to returning and would highly recommend this property.

My challenge in finding a place to stay for our family trip to NYC was to find a way for the 5 of us (2 parents, 3 teen girls) to go from our usual 3000+ square feet and 3.5 baths to less than 1000 square feet and most likely one bath. When I found this property, I was immediately drawn to it because it had 2 separate bedrooms plus a pullout couch, a nice back patio and easy subway access. I was a little worried about only having 1 bath, but I wasn't finding a whole lot of options with 2 baths, and I figured it was worth the trade-off for everything else this property offered. Our visit happened to coincide with a heat wave. The apartment stayed nice and cool with separate bedroom wall a/c units and the living room window a/c. The bathroom did get very steamy, but we could live with that. There was plenty of room for dining in the apartment with a large table to seat 6 and 3 stools at the counter/breakfast bar. All the cookware and dishes we needed for simple meals was available and there were two nice grocery stores within three short blocks. Due to the heat, we didn't get to enjoy the back patio, but it would have been a nice place to sit and relax for a while. We were also really glad to have a washer and dryer available. The property was clean and well-maintained. It looks exactly as depicted in the photos and all amenities are as stated. This is a great area of Brooklyn. It seems very safe and has so many things nearby - 2 subway options, Starbucks, independent coffee shops, a great bagel place, good pizza places, other restaurants and shops, and Prospect Park. You have to visit Prospect Park. It is beautiful and more manageable than Central Park in Manhattan. My oldest daughter and I went to run around the loop at Prospect Park almost every day. It is 3.5 miles and isn't completely flat, so provided a decent workout. There were lots of other runners, bikers and walkers, but it was never overly crowded. There is a nice green market at the park entrance on Saturdays. The apartment has a great stack of NYC guide books to give you ideas on places to visit in both Brooklyn and NYC. It was great to spend a week seeing what it was like to be a local resident. It's a much different experience than staying in a hotel. Plus, it's nice to get away from the massive crowds in Manhattan. I would highly recommend this property to anyone looking to visit NYC. David is a great host and is available if you need anything.

                          Why the Owner Chose Brooklyn:
This building is our home - we live in a duplex upstairs from the rental unit. We chose to make this property our home because the neighborhood and location are wonderful - not only is the neighborhood itself great, but it is a quick and easy 15-30 minute subway ride to the key sites of Manhattan.

The Unique Benefits at this Townhome:
Close to major subways B,Q (1 block away); 2,3 (3 blocks); 4,5,N,R (6 blocks). It is about a 15 minute subway ride to lower Manhattan or Union Square. Within 15 minute walk to: Prospect Park, Prospect Park Zoo, Brooklyn Museum of Art, Brooklyn Botanical Garden, Brooklyn Academy of Music, Grand Army Plaza (farmer’s market), and Barclays Center. Close to market, pharmacy, and charming shops of all sorts. MANY great restaurants, cafes, and coffee shops in 2-15 minute walking range.
